1161  Economy / Speculation / Re: The BTC deep continues for the next SIX Months. on: February 24, 2023, 06:58:52 PM
There is no saga of bitcoin's price, it's just the regular market movements, which is expected in a volatile asset like BTC.

This is because a good number of BTC has been taken from the system and no further reliable investment coming in to the system.
This does not make any sense. Bitcoins are not taken out of anywhere, they can only be moved from exchanges to personal wallets which boosts the price in the long run.

BTC will continues going down if the major shareholders did not turn up to increase the strength and volume of BTC
Bitcoin is not going down, it's experiencing sideways movements. And there are no major shareholders, this is not a public liability company, we only have holders.
1162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I gave investment advice to my grandfather. on: February 24, 2023, 05:36:23 PM
That's good advice. An important rule of investing is not putting in more than you can afford to lose.
Your grandfather putting all of his wealth into Bitcoin is a very bad decision and one that could have negative consequences.

Much better to buy slowly and spread over multiple purchases, DCA.
1163  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What bitcoin can do on: February 24, 2023, 08:58:00 AM
If you have an network issue, how's possible you can send your Bitcoin to the seller? Roll Eyes
I am also from Nigeria and I believe the OP was referring to network issues when making bank transactions. Due to heave traffic of transactions or some internal issues, some Banks were experiencing issues with their mobile apps and ussd code option, making transaction impossible.

This does not affect any alternate means of transacting like Bitcoin.
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big businesses, corporations also influence the price of cryptocurrency market. on: February 23, 2023, 07:56:11 PM
Any major headline would surely have an impact on the market price. Big companies, like Tesla, PayPal or Microsoft accepting Bitcoin as a payment option is definitely a big news and would sway trader sentiment positively, increasing the price.

This does not mean Big companies can constantly impact the price or influence how it moves up or down. Elon Musk tried to test the extent of influence he has and eventually lost a significant amount of relevance.

Are there other factors that influence the prices of cryptocurrency? Let's discuss!
Demand and supply are the main market factors. They in turn are affected by other secondary factors, such as;
• Major headlines.
• A breach or hack.
• Halving event.
• World economies.
1165  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the motto of bitcoin? on: February 23, 2023, 07:40:58 PM
Bitcoin does not have an official motto, but based on how it operates, there would be some unofficial options;
• Decentralized, unregulated,
• Not your keys; not your coins,
• Do your own thing,
• 2 is company, a third party is a crowd.

That being said, we don't need a motto, imo. You make out what you want from Bitcoin and use it the way you want.
1166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - is the bottom in? on: February 23, 2023, 05:14:14 AM
We have had a good start to the year but I expect at least one more crash as I feel it is far too early for the bull run to start considering the Bitcoin halving is still over 12 months away.
One thing to point out is that the market dynamics of Bitcoin has been changing over the years. While market cycles still operate fairly similarly, there is a difference in how far we drop and the response from holders to crashes. This means that we cannot put off the possibility of a bull run to beyond the halving; it's very possible the price starts appreciating before then and tops out after the event.

Also, there doesn't have to be another drop leading up to a bull run.
I expect that the bottom is in and we would have more sideways movement before a spike.
1167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FIX THE MONEY - FIX THE WORLD #Bitcoin on: February 23, 2023, 05:01:00 AM
We do not live in a utopian society, never have. This should help meter our expectations from the government and the way global economics work.
Bitcoin is a futuristic technology and would impact lots of lives and to a mild extent some country's economy, but it is not a "one solution fixes all problems" kind of situation.

The world is largely run on debts, both within governments, businesses and individuals even. Removing the concept of loans would negatively impact the way things are run, the ability to scale business enterprises or find capital to start up and also the effectiveness of a government to run.
1168  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie account got a username change ! First one in my eyes on: February 21, 2023, 05:32:50 PM
If you have a pretty good, privacy related reason for wanting your display name changed, theymos usually sees to it fairly quickly, regardless of rank.

There was a user last year or two, IIRC who used their email as their username. This put them at a huge privacy risk and necessitated theymos to change their username.

If you want a a change for some other reason besides privacy concern, byhat usually requires some type of recommendation.
1169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know more about bitcoin and bitcointalk forum on: February 21, 2023, 05:20:29 PM
Go through this thread; Newbies; Read before posting. It contains all the information a new member would need about the forum. Your emphasis now should be on learning about the forum rules, so as not to violate anyone and getting aquatinted with using the forum resources like the Search option.

The Help section would help you in discovering how to navigate the forum.
1170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a safe practice sending Bitcoin and accessing Bitcoin wallet? on: February 21, 2023, 11:42:20 AM
Can an unauthorized party gain access to your router connection? Yes.
Can that party use that access to influence devices you connect to the same router? Highly unlikely.

For better security, your electrum device should not be connected to the internet, but if you must, running it through your personal connection does not pose any additional risk.
1171  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Everyone Eventually Buys at the Price they Deserve on: February 20, 2023, 09:34:54 PM
I screamed, I shouted, I appealed, and I persuaded all my friends and colleagues to get it.
Do not compel anyone to invest in Bitcoin, regardless of your motives. There is already enough easily accessible information for anyone who wants to try out how it works that you don't need to shepherd anyone into investing.

Fast forward to February 2023. Bitcoin is now worth more than $24,000. They're highlighting my messages on Bitcoin from last year and wanting us to meet and talk about it. "How can they get in?" they'll wonder. "Is it too late?" they have X dollars they can spare.
Try to question their reason for wanting to invest now. Anyone who hasn't picked up any real interest in Bitcoin or how it works probably is not fascinated by it and if their reason for wanting to invest is cause the price has moved from point A to point B, with point B being a higher price, then they would likely panic if the price moves back to point A or lower.
1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've invested around 450 dollars into bitcoin and I am 16 years old on: February 20, 2023, 09:16:18 PM
Focus on relevant issues, like your means of storing your bitcoins and how best to set up your investment plan, not your age. It doesn't matter how old you are and anyone who matters does not care.

• This is an online forum and there e bound to be trolls and users who tick you off. Grow a thick skin and learn how not to be affected by what anonymous people tell you online.

• Keep your investment private. Do not expose to anyone how much you invested as it's not relevant public information.

• Avoid non reputable platforms for storing your bitcoins.
1173  Other / Off-topic / Re: Caution on: February 20, 2023, 07:57:32 PM
You're spreading the link inadvertently to newbies by posting it the way you did.

If you want to post suspicious links for people to be cautious of it, include it within code tags. Like this;
Code:
https://5010.org/#/pages/mine/register?invite=6UG678

If you get an unsolicited message, it's bag to avoid it than to try to humour the sender. You could end up downloading a malware or getting outsmarted.
1174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is currently the best crypto to invest in? on: February 20, 2023, 07:19:26 PM
If you really don't want to do the research yourself, then just still with good 'ol bitcoin.
If they do chose to blindly go into Bitcoin, they would still need to research how it works and how best to secure themselves. To avoid talking victim of scams or making some costly mistake that costs them their stash.

An investor who doesn't know how to research and learn things for themselves is soon parted with their money.
1175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transferring BTC on: February 20, 2023, 07:06:28 PM
is it really necessary?
It is a minor privacy suggestion and not a necessity.

There are many users on the forum who are registered to different campaigns and receive their weekly payment to the same address every week with no issues.
If you can change address when receiving and sending, it's advisable to do so.

Reusing addresses can make fees cheaper though too
Can you walk me through how reusing addresses makes fees cheaper.
AFAIK, the most important variable in tx fees are the inputs, then you can have the outputs, wallet type, etc.
1176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real-World Use Cases for Bitcoin in Agriculture? on: February 20, 2023, 06:43:31 PM
+1 to the reply by Fivestar4everMVP.

Bitcoin has about three major usecases;
• As a store of value
• As an investment, and
• As a currency.

The first two doesn't factor into the agricultural sector. This leaves us with using it as a means of accepting payments for agricultural produce or making payment for equipment or other necessities.
You can try to think outside the box and figure out a way to create a totally redundant coin which runs on the block chain tech and aids agricultural purchases or some other garbage that devs sell to market their shitcoins. But this would not in anyway be linked to Bitcoin.
1177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tournament gave 25 bitcoins as prize to last places on: February 20, 2023, 09:46:18 AM
Instead of looking at situations like these and wondering if the winners had held on to their bitcoins, it should rather show up our how far Bitcoin has come over the years and the level of adoption that has been attained in less than two decades.

It should also motivate you to hodl. Bitcoin enthusiasts today look back with regret if they had bought Bitcoin earlier and held on for 5-10 years to reach the ATH they aspire to sell at, but they struggle to hold for a few months or years even with the knowledge of the historical price chart.
1178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does this platform operate? on: February 19, 2023, 03:38:06 PM
First go through your learning journey before you attempt to teach Bitcoin to others.
Trying to teach someone about Bitcoin without understanding it yourself could lead you to give wrong and inaccurate information which could cost them funds.

guide me through to achieving it and making my stay here  meaningful in contributing my quota of existence on this platform.
Keep to the rules and you would have contributed more than 90% of users here.
As for guidance; read through the plethora of posts available here and pick topics that interests you.
1179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some important threads on: February 12, 2023, 07:04:57 PM
Theymos, we are yet again soliciting for the Newbie welcome message to be implemented, as it would make a huge chunk of the new threads redundant and hopefully discourage the repeat threads.

There are more post for us to benefits from and I will try to update this also you can add others you find here
There are comprehensive guides which are available on the forum. You can bump them up to educate other users.
1180  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid Scam Projects on: February 12, 2023, 06:56:59 PM
Doing your research could work to an extent and save one from some scam and shit projects as well as those that start off relatively well, but eventually lose direction.

Sticking to Bitcoin however would save one from 100% of them. You do not need to diversify within the crypto space.
Buy and hodl Bitcoin and avoid keeping altcoins in your stash and more so, do not risk your money on new projects.
