any news about NPT?  Grin

It seems that the dev is a school kid/student that does this in his free time when he gets home after class. Unfortunately there is no future in cryptonite coins currently as it needs skillz and lots of effort to make a success of cryptonite. Only a few exchanges can accommodate these coins and you have to be able to walk on water if you want to get a cryptonite coin listed in the current environment. The same goes for the biker coin launched the other day. Only a highly skilled dev with lots of time can make a success of it and I dont think that those attributes exist in this case.

The best bet for NPT holders is a swap to another coin that requires less skillz but with some differentiating factor like a new algo, but at least something that smaller exchanges can accommodate. Unfortunately that is also not a game changer so I wouldn't put too much of hope on anything. Just play it by ear and if anything happens it is blue-sky.
1362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LOC]UPDATE V1.4.5 OUT!! LOCO|Quark|PoW/PoS|HiPos|Masternodes|Tor[LOC][ANN] on: June 12, 2016, 07:27:15 AM
I have yet to see any donation campaign that generates any significant funds. 99.9999999% of such requests ends op with 0 donations. Even people that make wallets and do work seldom get anything. The virtual currency world seems to be a cut-throat place where everyone is out for himself and cryptonians will sell their own mother for $5. No, asking for donations is not the way to go because it is unrealistic to expect any donations. This is not a reflection on Loco or nightz because the same rules apply for any coin and any person involved with virtual currencies. Dont take it personally, it is the norm.

The best way to make it in this hostile environment is to make it happen yourself. People will only get involved if there is a realistic chance of them making money themselves in a project. A community grows when people in the community have coins and then get involved not because they feel anything for anyone else but because what they do could make their own coin holdings be worth more to sell later at a profit. There is no love in this game and no free meals.

The only way for nightz to sort out his issues is if he takes his head out of the sand, face what happened and move on. I have watched him and it seems like he can code which immediately places him in the top 1% of cryptonians and places his coin in the top 1% of coins that have a dev that can code. How many coin devs can take out 2 days and come back with working masternodes? it is a skill to code a current chain and most devs just opts for a swop because they cannot code. He has the ability to create his own fortunes. The reality is that no-one else can do anything for him unless he does it himself. There will be people that can support him with his coin and they will do that as soon as there is a possibility that those people can profit from their own holdings. Nightz has to realize that any emotions from list of self-pity, depression, negativity or just lying down and feeling sorry for himself will only lead to his own demise.

It is therefore unrealistic to expect any donations and nothing will come of it. So nightz if you read this, you can 1) feel sorry for yourself because of the bad blow that life gave to and in the process waste your opportunities or 2) you can stand up, start over and apply your skillz to make yourself some money (and for the others that will support you)

PS: Never slaughter the hen that lays the golden eggs. Train yourself to take a step back and identify those hens and strategize to get them cheaply, or if you have the skillz then make them. In the process, surround yourself with people that can help you achieve your goal and make it worth their while so that they stick with you.

1364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: www.gamebet.gg Launches GameBet Coin (GBT) eSports -- SALE OVER!!! on: June 09, 2016, 10:17:17 PM
Since I mentioned on this thread that I had trouble getting an issue with my perks resolved, I thought I should now mention here that I got most of my perks and that support did in fact eventually respond to my email to collect the rest about a week ago, but it is an email I rarely use and had missed it. So that said, I just wanted to state that Gamebet has honored their end of the deal as expected.

Good to read that everything worked out well. People here who cry and scream and are impatient are only going to lose out in the long run both in gbt and crypto in general. I invested in gbt for the long term, like 1-5 years. So having small issues now, as long as they get resolved is not a big deal for me. I just sit back and watch the thread, watch the charts, and believe that in the long term this investment is going to pay off well.

I think I was one of those people. I didn't yell or scream because I'm an adult but I did sell for a loss  Sad. I was hoping the price would continue to drop and possibly I could get back at around 300 sat but that's not looking very possible and now I want to kick myself.

ur stupid. don't sell gbt, buy gbt. when gbt explodes its going to be huge.

I think GBT will be one of those coins where it will just happily trot along with a relatively flatline graph and if the dev team cannot sort their issues will just fade away to the graveyard. However if the dev team can sort their things and deliver it can do very well and become one of those graphs where if you view it in "all" timeline you see this long flatline that suddenly goes up sharply after an announcement and you think, mmm imagine I bought right there just before it went up. It is difficult to say which way it is going but it would be better to just hang in there and wait it out. Iv put a slightly more optimistic outlook on GBT than some of the others due to 1) there is a concept and 2) the concept has good potential if they can land it.

Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.3 Beta accepts only XMR/QCN/BCN/FCN/Aeon/Duck/Dash/OEC/MCN/ORION addresses, and the miner does not accept my address from the wallet and will not start.

If you have an Nvidia card you can use ccminer. Just make sure that you have msvcr100.dll in the same directory as ccminer.exe. This comes with visual studio or you can download the dll manually.

I like the dev commitment with this coin. IMO it is the coin name and brand that is holding it back. If the coin goes through a re-brand with the same commitment, things will progress much faster.
1368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Human minable coin on: June 08, 2016, 10:25:37 PM
I would not be so hasty with writing this off. I would give the dev a while still.

I agree.  There were commits to the github repository within the last couple of weeks.  There has been significant changes made to the bitcoin codebase.  More than just a copy paste and create a new genesis block like 99% of the crap coming out on a daily basis that people jump all over because of some recycled graphics and a fancy logo.  Everytime I see a post about "Sweet graphics" or "I like the logo" I want to cringe.

I am going to stick with my gut on this one.

People were slamming Bitmonero now Monero in the beginning because it was all command line, had a sparse ANN without any graphics, and wasn't hyped by a bunch of shills.  Only a few of us were mining it for well over a week before anyone gave it a second glance.  It was new tech and that's what interested me.  It payed off.  I'm not saying that will be the case here but there's more future potential than the latest x11 clone, masternodes, pos, ICO scam garbage, etc...

True.  Sometimes the rough diamonds are the ones without the fancy bling.  I like the devs plans, the million dollar question (like every other coin) is if he has the skills to land it. If he can land it it will be big, if he bails it will be dead in the water.

I like the idea of a new algo such as x11evo, x13, blake2s, and others. However, there's not wrong with Cryptonote and what held me back was my lack of knowledge.

I can definitely consider a new coin with a new algo with a premise to be distributed to previous Neptunium holders. However, can also provide basic support for Neptunium and get thes nodes back up and running.

Tell me what you think.
I support your ideas to develop low temp algo and swap NPT .

If I pursue this goal I will probably start working on the new coin in a month or so and the distribution won't be that big. I don't want to release an ICO and have the premine under 10%.
So I was thinking 3% distributed to Neptunium coin holders based on their amount of NPT. 3% for free distribution (Maybe a signature campaign or just first come first serve). And the last 3% to go towards bounties so we can have reasonable incentive to build services around the coin.

That is 9%. Is 3% for NPT holders not a bit small?

i can not sync  the wallet anymore, someone has the blockchain or node?

My AWS server went down. I'll try to get it started again if you are still interested. I stopped working on Neptunium because there was a lot of unanticipated issues coming from being Cryptonote coin that I didn't have the skill or time to address and progress came to a halt.

So can you confirm then that NPT is officially dead until you make a swop of some kind to a new coin?

maybe you can think about changin the algo, on something new like x11evo? with a good relaunch, or upgrading it to hodlcoin algo

but it would be worse in that case i think, no gpu miners for now

I would support an algo change. Nothing wrong with a CPU coin. When GPU miners become available they can hop on board.

It would be a good idea to create the new wallet and chain using a recent wallet as base and add in the new algo if you can. Then you can arrange a swop.
1375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] QT Wallet Compiler for Linux on: June 05, 2016, 06:00:24 AM
Where do I get these from ?

sudo apt-get install   libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++-dev libboost-all-dev libqrencode-devqt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev    libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev    libssl-dev automake

The libdb4.8++-dev libdb4.8-dev missing

The missing libraries refer to Berkley Database 4.8. Version 4.8 has been removed from later versions of Linux and replaced with version 5.3. Many coins require bdb4.8 in order to be compatible and move your wallet.dat file around to other computers, however it is not impossible to use bdb5.3. In the later types of wallet configuration scripts you can for example configure with the incompatible bdb and it will compile. If you compile with bdb5.3 and you only plan to use it on that computer it is perfectly fine. If you use a later Linux version and you have to use the older bdb then you have to download the source for 4.8 and compile it yourself or add the special repository per the previous post. You wont fine ready-made bdb4.8 libraries in latest default repositories to install and hence your error.
