1341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ▒▒ANN▒▒░░░░░░ECCHI░░░░░░░▒▒FOLLOW THE T*TS▒▒ DISTRIBUTION OVER on: June 20, 2016, 09:05:02 PM
Here are the ecchi Raspberry Pi wallets (headless and Qt) for Raspbian Jessie (v8) as well as a bootstrap.dat file. The wallet has been tested on both a Pi2 and Pi3. Since ecchi is a full POS coin, it makes sense to stake full time on a Pi at low electricity cost.

Important:
1) Always backup your wallet.dat first before you do anything
2) The wallets were built on Raspberry Pi2/3 (ARM) running Raspbian Jessie (v8) and the instructions and scripts assume you are running as user "pi". It is a pre-requisite to have Jessie installed on your Pi micro-SD card. You can find instructions of how to do this on https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ by either installing n00bs and selecting your OS or by downloading the image of the OS. NB! It is important that if you do a fresh install from a Jessie image, that you first expand your file system with raspi-config. It is the first option in the menu. The default image they provide installs a partition of about 3.5GB and it needs to be expanded to 8GB or you will not have enough space for the installation. It is furthermore always a good idea to select the boot options in raspi-config to boot to a command prompt with authentication. You can then start the graphical desktop with "startx" manually. This helps with issues during upgrades.
3) The installation script installs the required dependencies automatically.
4) Installation directory where the binaries are installed is ~/opt/ecchi or /home/pi/opt/ecchi
5) To run the wallets after installation go to the directory with the wallets and run the wallet file - ./ecchid for the headless wallet at the command line or click on the ecchi icon on the desktop or run the ecchi-qt wallet file.
6) An Internet connection is required for the installation
7) You need at least an 8GB memory card for the wallet.
8.) The installation itself takes about 30-45min on an out-of-the-box Pi.
9) You cannot just download the dynamic wallets, you have to run the script to get the dependencies as well else it will not run.
10) The installation script enables the ufw firewall by default, but does not force any special rules. The wallet still works this way with the port blocked. If however you want to enable it to become a fully functional node, uncomment the ufw lines in the script and add the ports you want open (default 35788 for ecchi) and run it again or enable it manually by running the ufw commands as in the script with the correct port numbers from the command line.
11) Always verify the checksums when you download files to make sure it was downloaded ok. To verify the checksums on your Pi, go to the ~/opt/ecchi folder and execute sha256sum <filename> and md5sum <filename> and compare the values with the values in the checksums.txt file.
12) The installation script also installs a bootstrap.dat file up to block 24874 that is compatible with the Windows wallet.

Instructions to use the headless command line daemon wallet:

1) The installation script creates an ecchi.conf file with the startup settings in it. Go to the folder with the binaries ~/opt/ecchi and enter ./ecchid in a terminal window or at the command line to start the server
2) After the blockchain has been downloaded (it might take a while, just be patient) you can enter the normal wallet commands that you would as in a Windows debug console preceded with ./ecchid eg. ./ecchid getinfo.
3) Remember to always make a backup of your wallet.dat file before you do anything like encrypting it
4) To encrypt your wallet run the command ./ecchid encryptwallet <yourpassword>
5) Once you have the wallet running, blockchain downloaded and your wallet with coins on the Pi, then you can kickstart staking by executing ./ecchid walletpassphrase <yourwalletpassword> 99999999 true

Instructions to use the Qt wallet:

1) The wallet works exactly the same as the one in Windows.

To kickstart the installation execute the following commands at the command prompt or in a terminal window on your Pi.

Code:
wget https://bitbucket.org/jc12345/ecchi/downloads/ecchi_installation_pi.sh && chmod +x ecchi_installation_pi.sh && ./ecchi_installation_pi.sh && rm -f ecchi_installation_pi*

Let me know if there are any issues.

1342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: New Bikercoin (BIC) CryptoNight based crypto currency on: June 17, 2016, 09:27:19 PM
There is a way to exchange BIC without exchange ?

I am willing to buy @ 100 sats. I dont think it is worth more than that because:

1. Money supply is growing very fast @ 47 per block
2. No exchange
3. No block explorer
4. Inactive dev
5. It is Cryptonite and the future is dim for Cryptonite
6. BTC halving nears and alts drop

PM me if you are interested.
1343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 17, 2016, 04:36:02 AM

Valid points in my opinion.  While there's certainly a lot of whining on this thread which I have pointed out time and time again, the 2 comments above are right on the mark.  As for AhmedAshraf's snip about selling your coins if you have any, I have 25 BTC worth and asked to buy another 20 BTC in the trading thread. I'm obviously invested to some degree before you try to pull the same bs with me.

Development might be fine, but your team has a WAYS to go in public relations. I can't believe that was your response to him.  The Waves team needs to hire seasoned community managers, that type of behavior is uncalled for.  Would be happy to verify my investment if THAT's your concern AhmedAshraf.

Just because I believe in the project doesn't mean I feel the community managers are doing a good job. 2 very different beasts. Brewins is right.

I completely agree with TravelAsia and Brewins.

For a 30K BTC coin We need better PR people than AhmedAshraf who are professional and diplomatic. And Dev team really need to improve their communication with investors. Doesn't matter if you cant meet the deadlines but just show up your face every now and then on Bitcointalk and to keep the spirit high. Devs may be busy in slack but they didn't do their ICO in slack channel. Bitcointalk is where they raised the 30K BTC (because this is the most read blog by any new/existing investors) so they should not abandon this forum like they have been.

I think everyone should take a chill pill. I prefer if the devs post less because if you analyse coin after coin after coin you will see that for every word a dev says here, ten fud posts happen for each word taking those words apart. It is like whack-a-blob, eveytime you whach the blob it splits in two and soon afterwards there are too many little blobs to manage effectively. If they post less, then they can only be fudded with not posting enough which is one blob to deal with. This will help them with spending their time focusing on the critical stuff like to get everything ready for an exchange. Very little complex projects land on time and even if a project lands after a week compared to the project plan it is still a superior effort for such a project compared to project statistics in general over the world.

Unless something critical and material is being hidden, if there is no new news then there is no new news. The listing on exchanges will happen when everything is ready. What more do you want to hear? Slack was open until the troll posts flooded the slack channel. If everyone behaved then everyone could join. Real time chat channels will always have quicker information flows and is a superior method for communication with only critical info flowing to more asynchronous methods - that is how the Internet works.

Just relax. Everyone is in it together.  Wink

That is a dumb thing to say. No-one will buy that now knowing of your dumping risk.

is there any ring for rental on this algo?

I have to admit I got a reality check with Neptunium.  Dont waste your time with Cryptonight.

Cryptonote isn't a waste of time.  There are two Cryptonote coins in the top 25.  One with a $6 million market cap and one with $16 million.  There are tools that make it very easy to launch a cryptonote coin so they're now being pumped out like bitcoin clones.  It's a very simple process with detailed instructions on how to do it.  Expect to see more.  The ones that have added features or made significant changes to the code are the ones to watch for because they will be supported by a person/persons with actual coding skills.

Coins like Monero is already on exchanges. If you dont get a cryptonite coin on Polo or at least Bittrex then the coin is dead. Devs in general refuses to pay the money to Bittrex and the chances of getting another cryptonite on Polo is like 0.0000001 %. It is fun to mine though because in general I like coins where you can mine with powerful CPUs ans still have a chance.

The odds are just heavily against a new cryptonite and as Neptunium showed if you add to that the general lack of skills with cryptonite devs it is the perfect storm for failure. If this coin has to succeed it has to 1) not be any of the cryptonite wannabees that you mention will start to pop up, 2) the dev must be willing to pay at least Bittrex, 3) the dev must have the skills to maintain a non-mainstream code base to add new stuff.

At least the dev still posts in the thread in comparison to NPT where the dev just bailed.

It is extremely rare that a larger type of IT project lands on time. It is the norm for IT projects to run over, it is just by how much. A few days would still be ok because project timelines are in many cases just estimates and there are always unforseen implementation issues with IT projects. Look at case studies and maybe your own companies' IT projects and IT implementation metrics to see how many sticks exactly to the project plan. You will find there are not many. Those IT projects that do meet the implementation deadline exactly are many times rush jobs where availability comes first and other things like security etc. comes second and bugs to be sorted later. Devs in cryptoland can take no chances.

How to get coins everytime I come here airdrop is ended

I think it is the same reason that when you arrive at the station at 06:02 for the 06:01 train the train is gone. It is difficult to say, but I think the solution is that you must arrive at the station at 06:00 at least for the 06:01 train then the outcome would be different.

This coin is 1 satoshi coin. There is no community behind. Just when airdrop comes people is writing here.
Useless.
just wait and see, and after shh, dont regret

Imagine the dev has an ace up his sleeve...

My thought now is to delay this distribution, I'm not seeing interest in it, not the interest I'd like to see anyway...few post and always the same people....you have 2 hours to bring some people here and make this place more exciting, or surely this round will be delayed! You're really bad boys! You want ecchi but you don't make this thread crazy! Isn't fair  Roll Eyes

Now dont spoil the friendship.

Morning Wavesters, Today is the day, withdrawals will be processed.

sasha35625 [10:04 AM]
Final tests! launching mainnet block explorer and proceeding to payouts.

What about these "incorrect accounts" You guys mentioned something about addresses not being correct for some people.

How would anyone know their address is not correct in the lite wallet?

I think people were writing in strings that were not valid Waves addresses, e.g. Phoney Street 12, Scammetown. or something similarly invalid Smiley
Or possible trying to write the Waves address by hand and missing out a character or 2-3-4 etc.

There are formulas to check if the address is valid. I think the protocols are robust enough to identify the incorrect ones. It is possible to make a typo and still have a valid address but most of the time a simple type would be rejected.

The desktop lite client, does it need to be turned on to receive waves? It does not work like usual crypto wallet that have to sync blockchains right?

I cannot talk on behalf of the devs, but generally a blockchain exists on its own and keeps track of the transactions on the chain just like a ledger. If your wallet (any type) is not on it makes no difference as the wallet will interpret the blockchain when you turn it on and "catch up" on the blocks since last time and credit you with coins linked to your public key for those private keys in your wallet. A lite client simply means that the full chain is not stored locally on your computer. There is still a blockchain somewhere but the dev' server side will post the transactions to you while you were sleeping and the chain keeps track of any transactions they make.

Therefore it is not necessary to have a wallet open for you to be credited with coins.

To those concerned about dumps etc. In life if you have lots of money you will make much more and if you have little money you will either lose it or make just a little.

People with little money that are desperately looking for cash will sell quickly because they have to and that is fine and nothing wrong with it. They make a little profit and go on with their lives. Many people fall in this category. Then there are those with lots of money that do not need to sell. They will see the long term potential of an opportunity and hold on and buy the coins sold by the first category of people. The will reap the long term profits and become many fold richer which is also fine. In order to go from category 1 to category 2 you have to find a way to not have to sell quickly. Unfortunately it is not easy and most will fail to do this. Some opportunities are better than others that can bootstrap the process - spot the opportunities of which Waves is one imo, and try at least.

Once you bridge the gap you build your snowball and this is how life rolls.

WOW, very well said at least
i saw you are only of a few could see the potential for this.
imo could take 3 to5 years to get behind the king btc.
what you think ?

When you build a brand you can 1) link it to another brand and compete with that brand for position, attempting to do the same things or 2) you can create your own playing field with a niche market where you are the leader focussing on at least 2 aspects that makes you unique from other coins. It is much harder to be successful with option 1. Option 2 gives you more scope and that is where the marketing needs to happen. The brand you create, as well as how how close the functionality you provide satisfies an existing need or perhaps a need that people don't yet know they have but you can make them aware that they have the need, will have a value attached to it.

I think your question refers to if in 3-5 years the value attached to one coin of Waves will be close to the value attached to a bitcoin. That depends on too many factors including how disruptive Waves can be, how innovative, how well the marketing is, how well management performs, how well Waves is received in mainstream public and business etc. Waves will already surpass Bitcoin functionality-wise early on and would be king in its own niche by definition. It is difficult to compare the 2 coins because imo Waves has a different focus than Bitcoin. If Waves ends up being used for the same purpose than Bitcoin over time it would be incidental.

So you're saying go long on Waves?

Unless there is an unforeseen catastrophic tail event, then yes if you can.

PS: I also have to add though that a failure in management controls can also scuttle the ship so my view assumes that management applies good management practices and internal controls to absorb day to day issues.
