hi jc ...

did you get your account back? ... or is this 'still' the 'hacked' account? ...

because the one that i spoke to prior - couldnt help me with the compile of the original mtr code ...

My account was not hacked lol. I use Ubuntu and not Cent. The compile with the code as is works well on Ubuntu and hence the quick turnaround time on getting an Ubuntu node up. You seemed determined on Cent (which is fine) where the compile bombs out at some point and Cent is not my thing and I dont have an appetite to look into that. Rather ask a master programmer to dig in the code and fix it to work on Cent. I dont know why you wanted to use Cent if you can just use Ubuntu on a VPS. I figured it is because you wanted to expand the landscape of Linux flavors on which the compile works. The compile of the code as is also works fine on Raspberry Pi.

I was one of the biggest supporters of MTR from the beginning because I felt that the goals what the project wanted to achieve is something that is needed on the scene. I still feel the same way about the project goals, but I sort of lost interest when certain people entered the thread and I perceived that to have become the focus point of the project and the project seemed to be derailed. You cannot blame me for that. I still watch the thread, what is posted and what is delivered and if I perceive the project to be back on track Ill get involved again. It all depends on management actions. The goal is good but execution can be improved.

Anyways, Iv uploaded a dynamic binary that I compiled in June that you can try. If you create an Ubuntu 14.10x64 VPS, do an update and upgrade and install dependencies then run the binary and it should work. You can just apt-cache search for the deps that it is looking for and install until it works if it does not work for your installed deps. I have not tested it recently to see if any OS upgrades causes it to fail and you know how compiled Linux binaries go from system to system and they sometimes fail.

Link to binary (rename to MasterTraderd to feel familiar although it is not really necessary).

Quote
all the stuff on nodes...

Nodes are important but not a breakthrough accomplishment. At one point I setup about 10 MTR nodes on Ubuntu over several VPSes and it takes about 5 minutes to setup one node. With identical setups you can use the same compiled binary on all and just create an up to date bootstrap.dat that you replicate over all nodes to import.

Anyways, when the spat started between MT and 8bit I just killed them and switched to another coin as they were just sitting there eating up BTC while the project changed focus to bicker with 8bit.

Thank you for emphasizing the word promise

and thank you for giving a psychologist answer and sidestepping the real issues. The chances of getting a listing is small until you fix the critical stuff although I hope that I am wrong. I checked 1.0.3 and it still says pre-release experimental test build. If I remember correctly the guy whose code you copied posted some of the issues to fix earlier in the thread. Maybe you are lucky and a listing will happen - you never know.

I am extremely patient so I dont mind about exchanges or waiting until you do some concrete coding or delivering something substantial or changed the code from being experimental to fully productionalized. There are also not that many CPU mineable coins around. I am a strong believer in price as a lagging indicator so I would like to see what price the market attaches to your performance so far. Iv turned my miners off in any case as there is no way to tell what the cost of mining is.

I am just revving you for the sake of the others as it seems that there are many people posting that are anxious about exchanges.

So, there is no exchange succesfully compiled?!

They haven't tried, except C-CeX, who just arent installing the GMP Libraries

Why is the compile so complex so that the people struggle? Surely you can make things easier for the exchanges?

I put a guide in the readme, how much easier can it get

What does the exchanges then have against the coin that they do not want to list it? There must be some reason. If you can identify that then you know what to fix to get it listed.

Have you fixed for example the message that says it is experimental code that should not be used for mining etc? If not then maybe exchanges dont trust experimental code?

Maybe if you start doing something and show everyone that you are a real developer and not just a copier of experimental code, then people and exchanges will take you seriously.

It is not fud, just straight questions and recommendations because nothing is going to happen if you just sit back and wait for a listing. I too would like to see a listing.

You could for example start building trust by listing concrete things you did so far except for:
- change algo
- changed makefile
- promises of future features (I repeat - promises only)

The problem is the dev that isn't doing anything to add the coin to any exchange... this should raise a warning flag about the trust we could have to the coin

The problem is that code is having sum bugs and exchanges can't compile the wallet

Isnt that the same problem?

I've told them TIME AND AGAIN to install LibGMP

How about improving the code so that the github source code is top notch, no more experimental code and that everything works properly. You can then also make the installation instructions clear to install LibGMP as a dependency. The problem is that the installation instructions, maksehift makefile etc are all over the place and differs from github. Github should be able to stand on itself. No exchange wants to look all over the place to complete a puzzle of how to compile code. They want to go to github and get everything there including proper code.

Do this and everything will be sorted. Is it too much to ask these basic things? Your non-action to do these things are playing in the hands of your critics and if it remains like that much longer will prove that your critics are correct. Every day you do nothing significantly reduces the chances of this coin surviving.

Now go and fix the experimental code and productionalize it properly. (unless of course if you do not know how to) but then you should admit that here. Also, unless course you had no intention from the start to improve experimental code and was just hoping to get a listing for obvious reasons - am I correct or am I wrong? Choice is yours but remember that actions speak louder than words.

It is very interesting to see the BCT cancer spreading and the toxin doing its work in the thread of yet another alt-coin.

Anyways, if the Fantom dev fixes the code and gets everything sorted out, Dark Silk becomes obsolete. I think that this is the biggest threat to the original coder and probably the motive driving all the posts which explains the hostile behavior. The decisive factor is not if the Fantom dev is 10 or 14 or 20 or 60 years old, but if he can make the code fully productional. It is long overdue to have a proper CPU mineable coin and this could be it if the Fantom dev delivers the goods. There can be arguments for and against the code being released in its current state. A lot can be said for going to market first even with buggy code. It is not a foreign concept with even well known software companies going to market quickly with unfinished code and sorting out bugs and flaws later.

FUD continues...
If this coin is working after fixes why to spread FUD here? Jealous? Someone used your opensource? Cheezus.

It is the typical cancer of BCT - nobody can do anything without being fudded by someone else for whatever reason. This place is toxic in this regard and one of the big reasons why no alt-coin has made any significant progress. Sometimes it best to not post anything or face certain death by fud.

Without blockexplorer, no one want
to list this coin. BE is crucial step for
listing on exchanges!

Oh, I was wondering what BE is, yes, I would like to have a Block Explorer.... from the Block Experts

Contact chainz.cryoptoid and pay for one. It can be done very quickly.

1851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fantom | Hybrid | ZeroSend | BlankNodes | CPU Only | Update NOW! on: November 04, 2015, 08:38:59 PM
My i7 is running 90w per hyperthread so that's 720w

Can you elaborate?
1852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fantom | Hybrid | ZeroSend | BlankNodes | CPU Only | Update NOW! on: November 04, 2015, 08:31:32 PM
200 watt? Are you serious? it is more like ~100 watt maximum when mining. You are not loading iGPU, so i7 2600 consumes around 60 watts on 100% load. So your system needs 100 maximum 120 watt at peak if you using at least 80+ PSU.

You can get a rough theoretical ball park idea of power consumption based on your rig specs at this site http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

You can then calculate a rough Watt at the wall by dividing your consumption by your PSU's efficiency rate.
1853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fantom | Hybrid | ZeroSend | BlankNodes | CPU Only | Update NOW! on: November 04, 2015, 04:20:33 AM
Actually make that over 1000... And I didn't even count all of the stakes of .0333333.

Not everyone is experiencing your problem of disappearing coins. However, since you know that some of your coins are disappearing, why do you continue to stake then? You should have turned staking off the moment you noticed that coins are not returning. Staking is very small atm and not worth losing 1000 coins over. The problem will probably be fixed over time and then you can turn staking on again. POW is also active so the chain will still tick over in the meantime.

Where's my Member's piece of pie ?

I sent premine to dev. I think he is sleeping now. So need to wait when dev confirms received premine.

You sent it on the right chain?

Of course. I did check blockhash.

Just checking  Wink

Its been a while:

Code:
In file included from bignum.h:11:0,
                 from chainparams.h:10,
                 from alert.cpp:7:
uint256.h:15:19: fatal error: gmpxx.h: No such file or directory
 #include <gmpxx.h>
                   ^
compilation terminated.
make: *** [obj/alert.o] Error 1

Any ideas on the compile error?

There is soooooooooo much more to FLY , you have no idea. But if I told you everything, then it doesnt keep it exciting now does it? Wink

Vegas

After observing Fly for a while from an economics and sustainability point of view, for the sake of the Fly community I hope there is more than the current price and profit model. It is not possible to have a model just based on profit - for every winner there must be a loser.  The winners and losers state do not necessarily have to happen at the same time but the respective cycles can be asynchronous or deferred. Currently the coin seems to be in the "winner cycle". There are winners as more people join, stick to the rules and people are willing to hold off from selling. The model will work as long as there are people willing to buy into Fly (stake or from the fund), which means that when the market gets saturated the community will have a problem as the losers cycle will kick in at that point. For now though there seems to be more people willing to buy in order to get into a position to sell their stake for a profit and on the other hand holders seem to be content with just holding. The mystery questions are how big is the pool of willing buyers... at which point will the market be saturated... and how long holders will be patient and content with holding while incurring opportunity cost. For the model to keep working, coin management needs to find a way to either increase the pool of willing buyers and prolong the current cycle (possibly in perpetuity) or create a reason other than profit for people to want to buy the coin.

@ 8-bit-Party

why do you like this thread so much?

Despite what anyone says, MT made the mistake to meddle into 8bit coin and took on 8bit in the 8bit thread. Now 8bit is retaliating in the MTR thread and taking on MT and MTR and MT is paying the price. 8bit wont stop until MTR is completely dead and buried. Some things that 8bit says are valid and makes sense while others are as clear as daylight just an attempt to damage MTR. This is evident in that there is nothing that MT can post that 8bit agrees with and everything that is posted is picked on, which is unnatural. In a natural argument there will always be things agreed on and some things being disagreed with. Once I realised that 100% of what was being said by MT is disagreed with by 8bit it became clear what it was and that it was not a natural normal argument. I then lost interest because it can only end in one way like 99.999999% of other coins where the same happens. It is like a cancer in alt-coins.

Until MT and 8bit buries the hatchet, MTR will decline until it is dead and if 8bit really is an investor, his actions are killing his own investment. That is the short and long of it.

The thread has become a tit-for-tat between 8bit and MT which is unfortunate and I hope 8bit sleeps well after achieving his objective.
