Yes I know bryce made a lot of shit coins but this was not supposed to be one of them  Roll Eyes bryce said in a intervieuw that he was doing things for naut ? so far he seems only to hurt it but again bk would love to hear your opinion about it.

Here is my opinion on alts-coins in general:

They only have value if they solve an economic problem.  I am not a coder or cryptographer, but I do know that changing the algo does not solve an economic problem, therefore most coins will ultimately have zero value.

The economic problem that NAUT is attempting to solve is creating a better, friction-less payment network.  The sale to a merchant is easy...would you rather pay Mastercard 2% or use NAUT for free...just take a look at what BitPay is doing. There is no reason why NAUT can't follow the same business model. However, there are many steps before NAUT becomes a real payment network.  The first is a deep liquid market which I believe we have created and it is now my job to maintain that liquidity and stability with the NSF.

I believe there is real value in alt-coins, they can be used to raise capital, donate to charity and a host other real world economic uses.  The most technologically advanced alt-coin will not necessarily be the winner...Ferrari makes a great car, but Ford sells more vehicles...

you did not answer the question....

so you can buy XDQ with Naut but where can you sell XDQ?

maybe I'll just buy XDQ with my naut and then dump XDQ after it runs up since naut is quickly losing value...

talk about getting played like a fiddle - that's what's happening to all of us.

I'm bailing - this coin is headed for the basement.

I would reconsider that if I were you. You bail and then when NAUT shoots back up again? You'll be feeling mad.

It's happened to me and possibly to you as well many times.

I have a pretty good track record of bailing just in time.

look for the dumping to continue on mintpal from the windfall profits thatXDQ guys got from linking to NAUT - while we take it up the butts.

I have to admit - it was a very smart move on their part.

1285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: STAR COIN [STR] - The coin with bonus STAR blocks on: May 20, 2014, 12:55:08 PM
I've been having trouble solo mining this coin since a couple of days ago. The wallet synchs fine, except for the "checkpoint too old" message, but my cgminer seems to be unable to submit any found blocks before it turns stale.

It kept saying "Pool 0 communication failure, caching submissions". Then it says the share became stale while retrying, so I couldn't actually receive any of the blocks I found.

I am using the latest wallet client, and this only started happening about 2 or 3 days ago. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with my local network, because I can solo mine everything else fine.

Any ideas?

TIA.

I've been having the same problem - I've found that by unlocking the wallet will pick right up where it left off

go into the debug window and type : walletpassphrase your-password-here 60000 true

and that will do it for you...at least it did for me.

XDQ peaked at over 40 NAUT per coin...yikes

Seems to be over 50,000 NAUT sold under the bottom, yup nothing odd about that

exactly and guess who benefits from that certainly not us

bk could you let us know what your opinion is about this connection with Dirac, seems to me he is just a guy who wants to fill his pockets.

the guy has a reputation for making 'shit' coins - that's about it....and lots of them - one failed attempt after another - repeatedly.

If I didn't care I would not be so critical - but I hold a lot of these coins and want what's best for the value of the coin...and of course me... LOL

I invested all of my own mining resources and spent thousands of dollars of my own money renting rigs to mine this coin, now I see it being raped by interlopers hoping to exploit it's success for their own gain when they've put no skin in the game like us stakeholders have and I'm not happy about it.

coins fail or succeed on their own based on their own merits and this coin has been become encumbered by the linking and it's simply not good.

it's like someone put the brakes on it's ability to grow.

I joined this pool this morning and I wonder if there's a basic problem with this coin.

the number of orhpans far exceed the number of mined coins

is there some inherent problem with the block chain of this coin?

I also tread megamultipool but their servers were so slow I could not even connect - which is  really pathetic

this was the only pool I could find to join and like I said they have 80% orphans - what a waste of time this pool is but I want to mine this coin

http://nec.botpool.net

any ideas or good pool to join?

thanks

WHAT IS DARKCOIN SO FAR IN THE TANKS?

LOL.  1 BTC invested in DRK when it was put on Poloniex on Feb 7 would be worth 84+ BTC today.

It is consistently #3 in Daily trading volume, and has at times surpassed Litecoin been very close to Bitcoin in terms of volume.

I wish all my coins were in the tank.

It's not profitable for miners who immediately dump because people are willing to mine at an immediate "loss" because they are confident that the value will rise (and it certainly has.)  Miners who hold have done great.

well that's wonderful but today it aint paying squat!
1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: May 20, 2014, 10:31:02 AM
as I predicted - the coupling of those shiitcoins to Naut would drive down it's value.

such a shame to some bozo could damage such a great coin.

If I were BK I'd threaten legal action to get the coupling removed.

I warned you guys about this yesterday and I was right.

does anyone in their right mind think this guy did it to help the value of Naut?

hardly ...

what a shame....

the coin was headed upward now it's had nails put in it coffin - the sooner Naut distances itself from those coin the better - I hope BK takes my words to heart and threatens legal action against them - Mark my words - this coin is relegated to second class citizenship as ling as it's coupled to those 'loser coins'

It had and still has the momentum to succeed and increase in value as long as it doesn't have those boat anchors of coins linked to it.

WHAT IS DARKCOIN SO FAR IN THE TANKS?

I just looked at your pool and my 26mh says it will get me about 2.1 dark coins per day

this is just 0.02856420 btc perday

I'm used to getting .09 to .1 btc per day - this seems to be the worst coin available to mine or are your stats wrong?

wish you luck with multipools...lot of chance for forks here, so I'm out of this one Wink
gl, cheers

what are you complaining about - there are plenty of new x11 coins to mine...

what a bunch of crap this coin - linking itself to Naut trying to get a pump from Naut's success - pathetic...

Which pool is finding any blocks?

I've been using http://naut.0feepool.com/ and they find lots of blocks

basic question

I've been solo mining also...

and I have a calculation question.

I found a 'block' (or a small percentage of one and that transaction amount is: .000042

since a 42 coin is worth about 22.5 btc is the value of what I found calculated like this?

assuming btc is $450 USD)

(22.5 * $450) * .000042   Huh

yes/ no?

I'm unsure

as I suspected - value of Naut going back down.... probably as the result of the news....

Ultimately people will be buying NAUT more in the long run if Dirac ends up with a decent demand. While initially it may seem like it would cause this down, I still believe it'll be up overall in the long haul. Since you can only trade NAUT for Dirac right now.

Who knows, with NAUT's extremely high difficulty and net hash, maybe a multipool will pop up soon... increase that buy pressure.

regardless - my fingers are crossed for some serious value for this coin....cause I'm holding!

whos trying to get their hands on it? just curious, i dont have an opinion on this.  I only trade coins once they get to mint or cryptsy.

Bryce Weiner is a big holder of both of those coins...

coupling his coins to Naut gives his coins a pump and I think will hurt the value of Naut.. it's just one more things Naut owner have to take into consideration when trading and it's complicates estimating the perceived value of Naut.

but hey - that's just my humble opinion...

I'm not so sure, it will help the value of the alternative coin primarily, at first, also, having NAUT as key in a trade pair helps NAUT especially once we can do NAUT <-> fiat currencies. This way you don't have 2 steps of trade fees before being able to buy whatever is in the naut trade pair.

time will tell - Naut was headed for 100,000+ in the next few days - this throws in a monkey wrench...

Having received bulk packages unopened that came directly from the "gridseed factory" i can say that this isn't unique to a certain reseller or gaw's hosting facility. Mine were pretty decent overall and every one of them had dust on the fans. 4-5 out of the batches were rusted and 80% were unannodized. So the Chinese manufacturer was using these Asics before shipping them to even the resellers.

just another reason to not buy gridseed products
and someone was wondering why we were saying bad things about some Chinese companies Smiley

and then there's that weird smell too... LOL

Yes, they smell like burned plastic. This can't be very healthy. Maybe the Chinese are trying to kill us this way.
At first I thought the smell came from the power supplies, but it seems to be from the Gridseeds themselves.
Probably the thermal pads are slowly evaporating. After a couple of months the smell gets less.

I was referring to the weird smell of the plastic/foam packing material Smiley
