1601  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Wearing Double signature (Shan85) on: May 20, 2023, 03:59:40 AM
I just checked and, at least so far, Shan85 has not sent the money he says he is going to return to the address Royse777 posted. I doubt he will.

Also, saying it was a mistake sounds to me like the excuse of a little kid who makes up bullshit when he gets caught. There is no mistake, it was intentional.
1602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: obsolete bitcoin investment advices [change needed] on: May 20, 2023, 03:46:54 AM
2 and 3 are not bad but 1 is garbage to be honest.

1. Invest in Bitcoin with your spare money:
I can say that this advice is not necessary in today's bitcoin world. This advice was only relevant like a decade ago when bitcoin was been seen with alot of skepticism. Some saw bitcoin as  gambling, some saw it as a ponze scheme while others saw it as a bubble the will burst.
In today's bitcoin, we know that if you invest with your spare money you may never make any fortune from bitcoin.

And not only for Bitcoin investment, but for investment in general, if you do not invest with your spare money, you will either invest with money that you will lack in the short term, or you will go into debt to invest and both options have a high probability of going wrong due to the volatility of Bitcoin.

Advice 1 still stands.
1603  Other / Off-topic / Re: Niacin / Glutamine deficiencies negatively affecting life-quality / longevity? on: May 20, 2023, 03:38:47 AM
Gosh.  I am not sure how excited to be about that article, especially when I get to the end, and there is a mention that Sinclair limits his red meat intake and that he believes that vegetables are a better substitute.  Gotta question those kinds of ideas, especially if there might even be thoughts that getting away from saturated fats that are in natural foods would be part of the goal... and likely a large number of nutrient deficiencies may well be made up (or caught up) if diets did not eliminate some of the animal fats that are likely good - which maybe eating whole eggs and eating meat with the fat.. so if I am starting from a perspective that is anti-red meat (and anti-natural fat), I am going to be quite skeptical regarding much of anything that they have to say...

Well, I put it as an example. He is just one of many interested in healthy lifestyle/life extension who take vitamin D on a daily basis. If you look in that same article it says that Sinclair takes a statin daily, which the authors of the article themselves say:

Quote
Our view: We are not big fans.

Besides, I eat a keto diet with plenty of animal fat, so I don't share his view on the subject either.

I'm at a loss for words to respond to what you say.

just tried the new image hosting talkimg com for 1st time  Wink

Catching irony is not your thing, is it? If I have Timelord2067 on ignore it's because I don't want to read what he says, and now that I see it because you quote him, I can see that he probably hasn't taken his meds today.

No, this particular case has not been reported. But I had a similar case earlier from the Pakistan section. Also plagiarized. I reported it in the moderators section, but there was no response to my request, even though I gave the example of two cases of plagiarism. So I saw no point in filing an application against this user, as it would likely be ignored as well.

Icopress said it was reported.

The reason is a double case of plagiarism within one week (this was also reported to the moderator).

 Huh
1605  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Ledger wallet on: May 19, 2023, 04:28:46 AM
You should check out the hardware wallet boards, this has been discussed in detail. I believe everyone would not recommend you a Ledger wallet anymore after this. They are doing such stupid PR moves one after another. I guess it reflects how stupid their latest recovery product is. I wonder what makes them do such idiotic things in the first place. You'd expect them to be a bit smarter after being in the industry for years. They are correct that people need to trust Ledger to some extent if they want to use their product, but there is no reason to trust them anymore after they explain that they can and will back up your seeds over the air. CMIIW.

Ledger still lives on the fame it acquired in the past, where Ledger and Trezor earned reliability as safe HWs, but both are in the doldrums. Ledger even more so, I would say. But acquired fame doesn't last forever, and with the bad reputation they are getting, where one can see a lot of videos lately on social media of people breaking their Ledger and people on this and other forums not recommending it, I wouldn't be surprised if their revenue declines and go out of business in a few years.
1606  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC 100K FOR 2024 ! on: May 19, 2023, 04:12:24 AM
I'm starting to see that there's a lot of optimism about the possibility of a new ATH in 2024, that makes sense.

There was much more optimism in 2021 and look what happened.

Does this thread have any basis other than the garbage OP who seems to want to draw a mental line with the graph?

The line on that chart can go on in an infinite number of ways, and I see no reason to think it will take us past $100K this year without providing other compelling arguments. In fact, most likely if we go by the data, we won't even pass $69K.
1607  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US default a reality? on: May 19, 2023, 04:01:30 AM
I think it's all a show for the gallery, like so many other times.

I have a buddy that has been in banking since 1970 he says a deal will be cut no later than Monday.

So in reality your buddy has been working in banking since Nixon's default in 1971 ending the convertibility of the dollar into gold. It is a default that does not want to be recognized as such, but it was, going from a system that was only partially based on faith to a fiat system, which is based entirely on faith.
1608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin retirement benefits on: May 19, 2023, 03:53:59 AM
Well, I, on this topic, perhaps differ with people on the forum who have 100% of their net worth in Bitcoin or a large part of it.

For me the retirement has to be approached from a variety, and not just focusing on having X amount of Bitcoin, as for life in general.

One thing you have to have in retirement is your paid house. Ideally many years before.

Another thing is to have several sources of income. It can be jobs that you still like to do, like for example writing for pay, and passive income, like dividends.

Then, yes, a certain amount of Bitcoin to supplement, and then you consider whether to make partial sales and/or leave it in inheritance.
1609  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is ItsCrafty a bought account? on: May 19, 2023, 03:24:54 AM

Hey Timelord2067, I'm at a loss for words to respond to what you say. I've been touched.

 Grin

Yes? Try reporting plagiarism using this post. The author unfortunately deleted this post. But we do have ninjastic. And this text is definitely plagiarized. No global moderator will respond to such a plagiarism report.

If it has already been reported and no action has been taken, what is the point of reporting it again? I ask out of ignorance.

1610  Other / Off-topic / Re: Niacin / Glutamine deficiencies negatively affecting life-quality / longevity? on: May 19, 2023, 03:16:07 AM
The problem with supplements is that to cover supposed deficiencies due to modern nutrition, you have to take lots of them.

Me, if I had to take only one supplement, I would only take vitamin D. It is the thing that can improve your overall health the most, and is a supplement that is on the list of all those seeking longevity. For example David Sinclair.

The Anti-Aging Supplements David Sinclair Takes

Perhaps it's not necessary if you live near the equator and are exposed to the sun (getting sun on your face and arms for 20 minutes at 6 pm is not nearly enough).

If you are male, zinc is fine, then, apart from the ones you mentioned, Iodine, Selenium if you are of an age, but as I say is that you can take dozens of supplements a day to cover supposed deficiencies from modern food.
1611  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is ItsCrafty a bought account? on: May 18, 2023, 02:31:43 PM
Let me correct you, stompix:

Anyhow, I don't know why we should still discuss reputation if indeed he was found out with plagiarism, there is only one outcome once that is proved, the whole owner change thing becomes irrelevant when if the account is banned.

Let's see what a moderator has to say.

But you, taking advantage of the fact that almost no one can understand your posts (except users in the Pakistani section) plagiarized and thought you would not be exposed. Be thankful you weren't banned at all.

With the lenient approach that the forum has lately about plagiarism and the lack of clear criteria, as some people get banned, and others don't, I think I'm right to leave the feedback.
1612  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is ItsCrafty a bought account? on: May 18, 2023, 11:21:20 AM
Then if caught for plagiarism why not reporting to the plagiarism thread sir?

Question that remains though is how come no one reported him for plagiarism yet?

If you had only looked at icopress' quote above, you would have seen that he was already reported, but with the lenient approach to plagiarism that moderation seems to be taking lately, he has been spared a ban, at least for the moment.

So, there is a guy in my current signature campaign who has been caught plagiarizing a couple of times.

Unfortunately, I have to announce that ItsCrafty is leaving the campaign - without pay.
The reason is a double case of plagiarism within one week (this was also reported to the moderator).

Do you see it better now?

I wanted to wait to see if there is more evidence about the purchase of the account or something, but it is clear that the account is not operated by whoever created it. Normally it would be bought or hacked, but if there has been no complaint from the original owner I would opt for bought. In any case, mainly because of that and the plagiarism, for me who operates that account is not trustworthy, he does not hesitate to take shortcuts to make money on the forum.

You can see in the thread that the user has not been banned and is asking for forgiveness to see if icopress will accept him back.

I think you are talking about posts i posted in my local board. Mostly i shared their local news and technology information. i change news to my own sample word. Although i deleted all my posts as i was not aware that it is also against the rule.

I wish I am not fired from this compaign and wishing for one chance. I should be punished for cancelling one week salary because of not fulfilling compaign rules. Thanks

Seeing this, I thought that it is likely that the couple of cases of plagiarism is just the tip of the iceberg and I took a look at his post history. What I see is that the account was created in 2017 by someone who is an English native speaker or with a very high level of English, who used to write in some specific boards, and, after a posting gap between 2018 and August 2021, there is a change in the boards where he posts and a change in the style of writing, being the first post this one:

For me it is clear that one does not become a worse English speaker in a few years, if anything the opposite, you can see people on the forum whose posts years ago were written with poor English, but over time they have improved because they have learned more English or use tools like automatic translators, which today are very reliable.

The account does not belong at the present to the person who created it.

I ask for your opinion on the subject, especially those of you who have more experience in catching alts and with address analysis, before taking an aggressive approach or opting for a neutral tag.

-snip

I guess the question I'm going to ask you would be more relevant in the Reputation section, but since there is no open thread about you, yet, and it has to do with what you are talking about I'll ask it here: did you buy this account in August 2021?

Sorry for any intrusion but I think it will be more better and cleaner for this issue to be deliberated somewhere else and like you have stated @poker player, the reputation board will welcome this type of discussion so as to keep the campaign thread clean.

1615  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos - Time to update the current Ledger situaion @ Important Announcements? on: May 17, 2023, 11:54:10 AM
I tend to agree with OP on this one, given how popular Ledger wallets are and how big this story is.

For me it was more important the Ledger Database Leak, twice at least, and I don't see anything in that section although there is a thread about the MtGox database leak. At the end of the day this is a voluntary thing.
1616  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammers on the forum. on: May 17, 2023, 03:43:28 AM
I agree, it’s better to tag these accounts before they get the chance to scam somebody. Tagging an account with member rank won’t do much good because the scammer can create a new account on the forum again. $350 is a lot of money and the scammer wouldn’t mind losing a member account for that.

Member rank? The scammer is a newbie, so if he wants to scam again on the forum it will be easy for him to create another account.

In any case, in general, you should take many precautions before buying anything P2P on the Internet. Contacting a stranger with unknown or no reputation to buy something you want and sending him the money first has a high risk.

Flag supported btw.
1617  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Wearing Double signature (Shan85) on: May 17, 2023, 03:32:20 AM
Good job Bitcoin_Arena and nutildah.

I have tagged the alts I have seen that had only one negative tag and there was even one that only had a neutral tag by JG. Mostly because maybe with only one negative tag the managers might let it pass but being the tag for this they shouldn't if they check the reference.

Will there ever be a time when we see cases like these but without breaking the rules? Okay, he's from Pakistan and what you get paid here for signature campaigns is a lot of money. But you can do things legally, asshole. You can have several alts in several campaigns getting paid without breaking the rules and you will be rich in your country by writing in a fucking internet forum.

The irony of the matter is that even the bbigtart haven't received any merits for the scam catch at Duelbits thread, rather the merits all came to this thread.
I've merited him for you Wink

Me too.
1618  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos - Time to update the current Ledger situaion @ Important Announcements? on: May 17, 2023, 03:14:32 AM
What would be the important announcement then? That Ledger is a shitty company that has not only been so careless that it has let its customers' data be stolen several times but is also going to implement a program that goes against the principles of bitcoin and what a HW should be?

It's a topic worthy of debate but they're not going to send anyone's seeds if they don't pay, at least in theory.

This is a paid feature so it's not sending your seed phrase anywhere unless you pay $9.99 per month for it (which is a dumb subscription).

Seeing that the last thread in Important Announcements was: Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts and that the previous ones were 4 years before that, I don't see the issue as important, but maybe theymos does.
1619  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: THE WHITE HOUSE CRACK DOWN ON MINERS on: May 17, 2023, 03:00:46 AM
You mean the politicians currently occupying the White House. There are others who have a very different perspective on the issue:

Quote
United States Senator Ted Cruz wants to make the American state of Texas an oasis for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Speaking at the Texas Blockchain Summit 2022 in late November, the politician empathized how the crypto industry can be strategic for the U.S. energy supply and technological development.

Cruz argued that Bitcoin mining could be used to monetize energy created by oil and gas extraction, emphasizing that mining activity can be used as an energy storage and supply alternative:

"The beauty of it [Bitcoin mining] is when you've got substantial investment, as we do in Texas and Bitcoin mining, when you have an extreme weather event, either extreme heat, which is frequent in the state of Texas or extreme cold, which sometimes happens here, Bitcoin mining can be shut off in a fraction of a second. Making that electricity immediately available to the grid to heat or cool people's homes, to keep businesses running. That is an enormous reservoir of excess capacity that, I think, is very beneficial."
1620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A new milestone: 1M addresses hold 1 Bitcoin on: May 16, 2023, 04:29:12 AM
It is an eye-catching round figure, but nothing more. We do not know, as has been mentioned, if several of these addresses belong to the same person.

What we do know is that even once they are all mined, there will not be enough Bitcoins for all the millionaires, so having fractions of Bitcoin when it is widely adopted will have a lot of value. By then, addresses with 0.1 Bitcoin or even 0.01 Bitcoin will attract attention, as a whole Bitcoin will be prohibitively expensive.
