ineedausername,

go to the services section, post the bitPonzi.net API page, and ask for web developers that have css / jquery / ajax experience. The job will be to create a functional javascript implementation of bitPonzi, using the available methods. This will likely require some rudimentary knowledge of generating proxies in php xml > json etc.

I will personally pledge 10 Bitcoins for a functional css/js framework.

Additionally, as we discussed via PM, we should engage a number of graphic designers on the forums. Ideally, each designer will be from the country or region in which the graphics / ui elements are intented. If it's the .jp version, a Japanese graphic designer is constracted. If russian, a russian graphic designer is contracted etc.. Ideally, the graphic designer will also provide a cogent translation of site and rules text.

For the graphics, I pledge 2 to 3 Bitcoins per site.

I'd also like to centralize a list of all the Bitcoin sites that take advertisement directly, as well all of the Bitcoin based advertising platforms currently running. It would be a good idea to also identify markets that are currently underserved by Ponzis, and advertise on their forums as well. Overclockers.ru, for instance.

As long as there's a mechanism for rev share to the feeder sites from bitPonzi.net, where each site has a referral code, then marketing in each region is pretty straight forward and most importantly, it's paid for.

Community thoughs and suggestions?

-Jonathan

Yes, we will probably need better advertising as well.  I like your idea of going to overclocking forums.
3482  Economy / Services / GET 20 BTC IF YOU ARE A WEB DEV (and rewards for translators) on: September 25, 2011, 07:21:19 PM
Hi everyone.  BitPonzi.net is looking to expand and we're looking for the following:
> [10 BTC reward] [20 BTC reward!] Web developers; need CSS, jQuery, AJAX experience.
BitPonzi.net wants a functional CSS/JS implementation of their site: http://bitponzi.net.  The reward for this is 10 bitcoins.  You will have access to the existing SOAP API: http://bitponzi.net/API/API.asmx.  We expect delivery in at most a week.  You don't have to make it pretty, just make it work.
> [2 BTC reward per site] Graphics designers.
BitPonzi.net will soon be creating some localized sites for international gamblers.  We want (preferably foreign) graphics designers to design the BitPonzi.net satellite site for their own country.
>> [1 BTC bonus!] Translations.
If you can also provide a translation of the entire site and the rules (http://bitponzi.net/Rules.aspx) we will offer you an additional bitcoin.

Today seems to be more lively than last Sunday.  Anyone up for a mini-massivejackpot game? I'll put in 6btc. It'll be 30%/30% as always.  Anyone want to put in 5 to get the jackpot going?
edit: it'll be 2 hour expiration for more excitement.

http://bitponzi.net/Round_MMM-2011.aspx

No jackpot! So house advantage is 12% (enforced by system, I tried to set 0% fees)! You just bet and get your 30% ROI.

We have a bitponzi thread already... Tongue

But you see folks, drug dealers are a good thing!  There are no negative effects on the community!  Everyone involved is making money, it's a zero-risk business!

As long as there's no coercion, the free market is a good thing.

We can't keep using Google Translate...  it translates "API" to "Air pollution index" in Chinese...

Can nobody understand that if you are the round creator, you aren't subject to risk!?

why don't we look at the scheme in your sig?

Hmmm, one guy wins, 9 lose.

So you get paid, the winner gets paid, and 9 others lose money.  90% of the players lose in this scenario, and yet you think it's a good thing, because the guy who started it gets the rake.  So not everyone has a risk-free source of income here.

Ponzi schemes ARE fraudulent, hence why they are illegal.  What is so difficult about this concept?  No, no, you see MY ponzi scheme is different, I promise.

No one with a functioning brain stem would willingly buy into a ponzi scheme or a pyramid scheme.  But then again, this is bitcoin.

lol 2 guys won.  but close enough. why do people buy lottery tickets? are lottery tickets illegal?

Ponzi schemes are a scam, we all know that.

Ok, makes sense so far.

Welp, found a problem.

Please explain how a Ponzi scheme that calls itself a Ponzi scheme is more of a scam than any other gambling business.

It's a pyramid scheme that calls itself a ponzi scheme, actually.

It may or may not be more "honest" and less of a scam than other Ponzi schemes, but I do have to disagree with

BitPonzi is a great way to start your bitcoin experience with a decent-sized wallet.

It's actually a great way to lose your bitcoins.  Tongue

No, I emphasize: If you stick to only creating rounds and not depositing in others, you WILL INCUR NO RISK.  Of course, after a while you can choose to gamble with your earnings.

taking advantage of others to make money, a true bitcoin business.

Would you rather I called it a pyramid scheme? OK fine, I will.  Whatever.  Doesn't any casino take advantage of others to make money!?  Do you simply have a problem with gambling in general or something?

You really don't think it's bad for 'the community' that the majority of bitcoin businesses are people enriching themselves by taking advantage of others?  It's the object of the 'game,' to take the jackpot from the other players.  Take from many to enrich the few.  Do you know why most communities DON'T want casinos built nearby?

And jesus, the name.  Hey, sign up for BITCOIN PONZI SCHEME!  WE TELL YOU ITS A PONZI SCHEME, SO YOU KNOW THAT ITS LEGIT!  Do you realize why "Ponzi Scheme" has a negative connotation?

Enrich the few? This is an opportunity for anyone to join in on the enriching!  Nobody's forcing you to take risks.
Ponzi scheme has a negative connotation because ponzi schemes used to be fraudulent and weren't considered gambles.

@GimmeDemBitz:
I was about to start a thread here in the Noob section to get more traffic going to bitponzi, and I saw this thread.
I assure you that if you really don't want to lose money on bitponzi, you don't lose money.
It is possible to earn bitcoins in a risk-free way at considerable ROIs*.  In fact, if you're willing to tolerate minimal risk, you can have about 3 bitcoins a day, which is a good way to get a newbie started with some bitcoins**.  I've earned about 23BTC on bitponzi and for you to call them a scam is just misleading and dishonest.

*I'm sure Bernie Madoff has used the exact same phrase at some point or another.

**A pyramid scheme (Can't even name your scams properly!) relies on an influx of new investors to pay off the old investors, and in fact says so in the 'rules.'  Advertising bitponzi as FREE MONEY is a great way to reel them in.

3 BTC a day?  What is that, 12-18 dollars?  AMAZING.

And where did your 23 bitcoins come from, I wonder?  Other 'investors' that lost that round of gambling?  Or does everyone actually win, and bitponzi is just giving away bitcoins?  Sounds like a great business plan.

Gambling is a voluntary tax on people that are bad at statistics.  Or in bitponzi's case, history.

Risk-free meaning that you will either be paid a higher amount because another person lost their money or you will keep your bitcoins.  Essentially, you are making money off gamblers, while they can gamble.  What's wrong?

Yes, my bitcoins did come from other gamblers.  This is an opportunity for any person to become a game operator, basically.  Doesn't a casino's money come from gamblers?  These gamblers voluntarily participate in Ponzis, so why is it a scam? It's only a scam if they don't know that there is risk.

3 BTC is 12-18 dollars, yes.  What's your problem?  Some people aren't willing to put their real money in yet and just want to play around.  3 BTC per day is also way faster than mining-- it's the equivalent of 6 GH/s or so.  Why do people mine if they can do this?

Hello newbies,
Typically a noob starts out by mining.  Eventually, you have to ask, is there a faster way to earn a few bitcoins? YES, THERE IS!
The answer is BITPONZI.
Ponzi schemes are a scam, we all know that.  But did you know that an honest Ponzi scheme which calls itself a Ponzi and makes its rules clear to all users can be a good source of bitcoins?  BitPonzi is a site where anyone can make their own Ponzi scheme!

Rules
1. Initial deposit is made.
2. People invest.  A portion of their deposits goes to the jackpot, and a portion goes to the house.  The rest goes to the pot.
3. When enough money is in the pot, the first unpaid user gets paid their deposit plus a specified return.
4. If the game ends, the last user is paid the jackpot and the first user is paid the entire pot.
5. The game ends when nobody has deposited for some period of time (expiration method 1), or when X hours have passed since the initial deposit (expiration method 2, called fixed expiration).

BitPonzi is a gambling site that allows you to adjust risk.  If you have a bitcoin and you want more, start your own game!  It's risk-free: if nobody deposits, you get your money back!  No fees for unsuccessful games!  If you are ready to take on some risk, you can start investing in other games, where you may or may not be paid out.

BitPonzi is a great way to start your bitcoin experience with a decent-sized wallet.  I hope I see you soon on BitPonzi!

No jackpot for me, I wasn't awake last night Sad
Oh well, I didn't incur a loss on DAILYMASSIVE3, which is good.  I earned about .96 in profit, actually Smiley

If you want to pledge for DAILYMASSIVE4 (which will happen on Monday 8pm EST) please send the amount you are willing to pledge, in Satoshis, to 1NformCi1ue5BvegHqzug2Jrv9QnWL2DMn

I am not doing the daily massive series on weekends as this site gets very quiet.

DAILYMASSIVE4 will have 30% ROI, 30% jackpot, a 20BTC initial deposit to get it started faster (if you want 15 instead, please tell me), and a 3 hour expiration (not fixed).

edit: Oh yes, congratulations to the winner of the 8.4 BTC jackpot for DAILYMASSIVE3!

Somebody just sent FIFTY satoshis.
I'm going to bet that's 5.  edd: If you contribute 5 more, we're going ahead Smiley
3500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does anyone know what makes the price stagnate for days on end? on: September 24, 2011, 03:48:28 PM
Well, That wall won't let it go down! And, it seems whenever some bids get put down in front of the wall, they just get sold into, holding the price just a few cents above!

Someone just broke and sold 3000 into in down to 5.4. It will take a lot of work to get to 5 though. So we shall see.

They're anticipating we'll be back to 4.6 to 4.8 within the next couple of days.

And that just isn't possible.  It'd break all the long term trends and indicators.
