Actually, no. You should not be free to teach your kids whatever you wish, because your child's education isn't about you, it's about your child.
So, I guess you get to decide what is taught to children then?  I suppose you are fully prepared to take people's children away and kill their parents to impose your world view as well?  Sorry, but I don't want to live in your murderous and totalitarian world.
What the hell!?
Murderous?   Roll Eyes

Hmm... I think I would support this too. Obviously we don't want huge amounts of spam, but it seems a bit unfortunate that such a wide ranging topic that is the most popular on the gambling section, is confined to one thread. I've played bitcoinduit before and I would disagree that it's (completely) not smart. It is one of the few "gambling" games where there is no house advantage, and you can take as much or as little risk as you choose, including (literally) zero. Anyway, this isn't a discussion about it's relative merits, people can find those out for themselves, but it would seem fair to at the very least reduce the restrictions.

This.  And my proposal is to reduce the restrictions for everything, so maybe bitlotto or any other site could also make multiple threads.  It wouldn't be spam, it would just be livening up the forum, sort of.

This is why traffic is down --

If anyone wants to support Bitcoinduit, you can head to that thread and sign the petition Smiley

I think they're all dead because people realized playing them wasn't all that smart.  I'd still like to be able to visit the gambling section and see what's happening.... if the policy was removed, it'd probably just be 90% spam again.

Well, playing them is smart if and only if traffic goes up, because that's just the nature of it.  If you're going to call our game dumb, you're going to have to call all the gambling games dumb...
The games had been around for quite a while before they suddenly died, which coincided with the new rules.
I also mentioned stickying the major sites which would allow you to "see what's going on."
edit: Also note that there wouldn't be spam if the game is almost dead already.

Can i send you a little bit of money and you add it to your investment process, and after you made more money you return it plus a fraction of the profits proportional to the amount i contributed, taking away a percentage of the profits to yourself if you want of course?

I'd also do this if I could see how much profit this has made you, chodpaba.
3227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Breakout to the Upside Imminent on: October 14, 2011, 04:01:18 AM
After a never ending series of hacks, scams and security accidents Bitcoin is losing its market value even when the fundamentals appear to be sound.  Though I have faith in Bitcoin itself, I don't have any faith at all in the price anymore.
3228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: October 14, 2011, 03:56:33 AM
hmm.. he's back. And thankfully it doesn't drag on for an hour ( 36 minutes)

http://onlyonetv.com/2011/10/the-bitcoin-show-episode-048-dan-oconnor-running-for-us-congress/

edit: I'm not even 30 minutes in - and already it feels like an hour.

Ouch.. this politician he's interviewing wants to let parents and teachers have more of a say in the curriculum in schools "rather than applying some sort of universal standard"
-  "No universal standards"  he says.

Hmm, so science class could be creation 'science' if the parents and teachers in some school decide so?  greeeat.

Sorry for throwing the thread back on topic.

1) I just wanted to know why this guy thinks he can still speak for the bitcoin community?

2) Why is he not currently being raped in prison?

3) Has anyone seen or spoken to him at the Occupy Wall Street event?

4) Why has no one on the east coast shot him with a paintball gun?

I don't get what Bruce thinks he's getting out of this...
3229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: October 14, 2011, 03:17:22 AM
It is not my business or your business but it is the child's business.  The child will grow up to be a delusional sheep, and the child's rights are violated when you teach him/her utter crap as science.
3230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: October 14, 2011, 03:14:50 AM

Are you suggesting that if a parent wishes her child to be taught creationism, and a teacher wishes to teach it, that such activity should not be allowed?

You prefer that one monolithic governing body decide what is truth and teach it universally? Can you guess what would be the state of science if education in all of history had been taught only by one monolithic organization?

Why... we'd still believe in creationism.

What is currently accepted as scientific fact should be taught, alternative scientific theories should also be taught, but creationism has no scientific value at all, and hence should not be taught.  Who decides that? 100% of scientists do.  Foolish, delusional parents should not be allowed to continue the tradition of creationism into the 21st century.
edit: I see why a libertarian might think that this is too coercive.  However, your right to decide things stops where the child's right to learn the truth starts.  The rationale is the same as that for why you can't harm people physically.
3231  Economy / Speculation / Re: $/BTC Time Series (Probability) Analysis on: October 14, 2011, 03:09:39 AM
Bears make money, bulls make money, but pigs never make money.  I keep having to re-learn this lesson.  Cry

That said, those probability charts are *STILL* eerily accurate for getting the likely direction of the day's trading.

That is because it is based simply on how the market has behaved given similar circumstances. This should be surprising in no way. People have been trading successfully on Bayesian analysis since the 1940's, still very few seem to understand it. The particular weakness of Bayesian analysis that I have struggled with most in this market is simply the lack of history. The more history you have the better it works. And we are just on the cusp of having enough history to make it very, very effective. I may get to a point before too long where I may have to stop publishing the output.

Is this methodology outlined in a clear, concise summary with pointers to further reading somewhere?  I'd like to read about it... might make a bot lol.
3232  Economy / Gambling / 1 BTC freerolls for 3 most active Bitcoinduit players! on: October 14, 2011, 03:00:48 AM
Hi everyone,
The 3 most active Bitcoinduit players a week from now are getting freerolls for 1 BTC each!
Active is defined as "highest deposit count," but don't create 10 tiny rounds just for this prize or do something like that.
Good luck!

3234  Economy / Gambling / Re: www.betwithbtc.com - A directory of Bitcoin gambling sites. on: October 14, 2011, 02:50:56 AM
Bitcoinduit added to the site.  I don't know who plays these ponzi-scheme games, but apparently someone does!

Yay!  Grin

It honestly won't happen, even our politicians aren't that stupid after Iraq/Afghanistan.
3236  Other / Meta / Revive Bitcoinduit! on: October 14, 2011, 02:47:05 AM
Hi everyone,
A month and a half ago we adopted a policy of one thread per site in the gambling forums (or, as the mods stated, started enforcing this policy).  Today, the pyramid game sites are all dead!  At the time, traffic was already heading down after the rule change, but it wasn't until it dropped to 0 that I started questioning why.  It appears to have been this forum policy.
However, we do know that these threads flooded the forum.  I propose that all major gambling site threads be stickied, but that this policy also be repealed because of its detrimental effect on our "industry." Smiley

3237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: October 14, 2011, 02:08:03 AM
To be fair, the September 15 breakout above moving averages after a double bottom was definitely a bull signal.  You can't argue with that.  I was a bit surprised we didn't have at least a minor rally myself.  And by surprised I mean I kept a bunch more mined coins than I should have which I later sold for less $.

Problem is, some guy keeps selling 10k BTC into these rallies and they just die Sad
How the hell can technical analysis predict that?
