161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Security is important in Bitcoin on: December 15, 2023, 10:14:20 PM
He bought on an exchange and there's no private keys in exchanges because that's normal as they are custodial wallets as well.
But not having the idea of having a private key while creating a wallet is such a negligence on that person's end.
You invest money, the hard earned you have made and you never did any research what these are for. It is understandable but a mistake that's going to teach an expensive lesson for everyone who miss it out.

He can just charge it as an expensive lesson that he will always remember by.
Sometimes we all need to experience something awful in life just to stick a life lesson that you will keep to yourself in a lifetime.
And do note that in this market, even if we did our part, research and all, we still can't guarantee that we won't suffer any kind of loss.
This is the risk part of going into any market, you can only diminish its impact if you will use your extra funds.
162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Type of gambling and Intelligence on: December 15, 2023, 09:31:50 PM
Does the type of game you play at a casino or sports you bet on show an individual's level of intelligence or how smart a person is?
Blackjack, Poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, sports betting, horse racing, betting on sociopolitical events, keno, etc.

Basically, not a thing to consider as a measurement of a person's level of intelligence on how they play gambling. However, you need to have that kind of intelligence about a certain gambling game. It's an advantage to consider especially those card games as you faced other players too that you don't know if some are those are really highly skilled. Being smart will always come from understanding how the game works.

Not just that, aside from we need intelligence about a gambling game, being smart on how to manage properly the bankroll is one of the key factors in order to lasts long in gambling. We should always think of an effective way how to maintain our winning stats over losing stats as in the first place there's no 100% guaranteed wins in whatever gambling types.

Also, consider those who are just basically having their own good times.
As you don't need to think hard on your games, you just play those luck-based games.
So the intelligence is indeed not a question here. You can't judge a person on this level.
And do remember, the tips, knowledge and strategies in other games like poker and sportsbetting are acquired throughout the years.
So it is not only about intelligence but patience is involved. And not many people have such patience of heading this direction.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Craze for Meme coins never ends? on: December 15, 2023, 08:42:37 PM
The hype will always be there with meme coins and it may never ends as its consider as a seasonal token. Now that the market is rising, I’m sure the hype will be present again though of course not all meme coins have the same faith because some is a scam project and this is not new anymore with the meme coins.

We know the risk of this one, and we know how the hype works. Don’t over confident about meme coins, if you are already in profit better to sell right away and enjoy your profit. Usually, small meme tokens are not good for long term, so make sure to analyze and do your exit as early as possible.

The common dilemma here is that you don't know which meme project will give you good profits.
As they are subject for pump and dump scheme, you won't know which one will exit the game.
Most are in disappearing act without prior warning, hence, it is hard to keep this type of investment for so long.
The hype will always be here as people are continuously supporting these projects for the idea of getting rich quick.
164  Economy / Economics / Re: Luxury and spending lifestyle fastest way to poverty rich kids on: December 14, 2023, 10:16:55 PM
It is rare to see rich kids getting broke these days after the death of their rich parents. The rich parents have come to understand this concept. They know that since the wealth is not gotten by the children they won't know the value of it. So what they do now is that they employ their children in the same organization and one way or the other the children are contributing to the business and getting paid. Instead of giving them money you indirectly do that by making them work for you and gradually they will understand the nature of the business.

Another way to do this is to make your child your assistant so that every happenings is in the business he would be aware of. Once he/she consistently follows you everywhere he will understand the importance of money and how to manage it.

That is, if the parents realized this kind of upbringing. Because later on, it is their kids who will suffer.
If they don't know how to earn money, they will also spend it extravagantly without considering how it is being raised.
Anyway, if a person will experience hardships in life, they are more cautious on how they spend money.
So in time, they will learn their lessons the hard way if they won't mind spending their money to just basically anything.
165  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for December on: December 14, 2023, 09:16:26 PM
Its nice to see it breaking out again, nearly at 43k levels right now, the fact that people got "scared" so easily when it went near 41k levels is funny, that's the definition of weak hands, we are talking about situation that doesn't really require any deals at all, we just need to end up realizing that as quickly as possible. I get that its not that easy, but we need to just accept it, otherwise we are going to keep on feeling scared and selling every time the price goes down, and we do not need that at all. I hope that we can reach a point where people do not doubt it anymore, 45k+ should be that but to be fair it should have been that the moment we got above 40k and yet people still feel scared anytime there is a tiny drop.

This is when you will be tested how much you believe in this market.
As we experience a roller coaster ride in terms of the price, and so our emotions.
If you truly believe about btc's potential, you won't easily panic about what's going on.
But it is still advisable to keep up with the market so you won't get behind of the happenings.
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's role in financial development on: December 14, 2023, 07:48:25 PM
More than sharing sorry tales on this forum is the point to heed, which is to know that investment in BTC is not a guarantee out of poverty. You need financial discipline first of all in order to now become able to save up, earn and save up some more BTC investments that may later pay off well to Carter for the hard times.

I would advise that since you are studying, you could also learn how to be a good trader. Traders make good profit from buying and selling BTC or any shitcoins out there, am sure that overtime you could have big wallet portfolio of HODLing investment to your name

It would really take time to have enough experience in trading to make it out alive in this market.
Patience and perseverance are needed in order not to give up in battling the challenges of this activity.
And while studying, he can very well learn some tips along the way. Learning is not an overnight task.
It would take years and years to be comfortable in a given activity. As long as you have the passion, you can survive with the trials that come with it.
167  Economy / Gambling / Re: Does anyone find the spate of online casinos a bit uninspired? on: December 14, 2023, 06:15:56 PM
If we are to talk about online gambling casinos, almost everything we are seing today are just an improvement on what others have already built or worked on, there's nothing new anymore in gambling than we have all been having now, the little difference they all have is the unique qualities that we see from the ones we have chosen to use, just as you cannot also start something new without taking ideas from the existing ones operated by those before you.

So there's nothing new to build in online casinos? No new ideas or innovation remain?
It's done.
Why ?

It is not that there will be no new ideas anymore, but you can still see some variations of them.
Of course, hard to start from the scratch as it means, you need to create a never-berfore-seen games.
Why are you looking for new innovations? Are you bored with all these countless games offered by casinos?
You can't even play all these games in one day. If not, go to sportsbetting also. There are so many choices as well.
And by the way each casino is running their own race or contest or bonus programs. I don't think you will run out your choices there.
168  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you still use Banks ? on: December 13, 2023, 11:13:51 PM
Investing, holding cryptocurrency particularly bitcoin did not and cannot displace the banks. Banks are integral to our existence and economies. There is no time in the world when banks will come to be abandoned because of low patronage or because there are more crypto investors and holders than bank account holders.

Some people may decide to live off grid in a country that allows them to use and spend bitcoins without ever having to change them to fiat or use the bank. Fine. But is is not the reality for everyone.

I will still use banks. And I will still hold and invest in cryptocurrency. It is the fact. Banks just like bitcoin are here to stay.

Just be grateful that we know about crypto or that we have crypto today.
But yes, I do agree that we still very much need banks in our other financial services.
This is why it won't go away. Besides, majority of the population are still using banks.
Also, if you have a regular job, for sure, your company is sending your monthly salary via traditional banking method.
Many companies, services, and industries are still tied up with the utilization of banking services.
A good example is your mortgage. Do you really think crypto can offer such service right now?
169  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: December 13, 2023, 10:56:53 PM
I don't know anything about institutional investors because the rumours have been around for the last five years. But the cycles and market manipulation have not changed. One thing is clear that the big companies have been around for a long time. If the etf is accepted, the big money will be in the market officially.
And when the big money from the ETF received circulates into the market, that's when Bitcoin will continue to experience a big spike. Because the circulation of larger amounts of money can also be the main foundation for the push to increase prices in the market, there will be many people who are surprised by the extraordinary achievements in Bitcoin. So everyone just needs to make sure there is more valid evidence for this because many of the big companies in the world have definitely looked at Bitcoin and are trying to have it as their additional investment for now.

I believe, it is only a matter of time before these big companies disclose about their bitcoin investments.
For sure, some of them are secretly or discreetly buying large amount of bitcoin.
As we are heading to the halving period, the sentiments are positive. So high likely that we are on the increasing side.
The good thing also is that the supply is fixed with btc, so we are only working on the demand aspect of this market.
And as we are seeing here, we are in the positive direction of demand, which means, the price is also on the positive side of things.
170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Young student teaching his classmates about Bitcoin on: December 13, 2023, 10:24:22 PM
Start them young as they say but he cannot skip to the criticism of those people that will say, let them play outside and do their thing.
Anyway, that's the choice of the kid and can't blame him for being curious when he's surrounded by people that are into Bitcoin, that's why it's hard to change his interest coming from Bitcoin going to the games and other things that kid must do.
This certainly has its pros and cons, but what is clear is that Bitcoin must be taught to our children both from an early age and when they become teenagers. Because with the increasing popularity of bitcoin, more and more parents are looking for ways to teach their children about bitcoin. Maybe if they weren't taught about Bitcoin from an early age, they would have difficulty understanding it because Bitcoin is complicated.

As an example from the OP, a child who is 9 years old is teaching his friends, of course this is good for other children to imitate and what is certain is that children at that age already understand Bitcoin correctly, of course because of the upbringing of their parents who want their children to success in the future.

On my end, I won't force my kid to learn about this market. But if he has the curiosity, then I will guide him.
Younger generation tends to be curious for what they are seeing over the internet.
If my kid starts to ask about it, then, slowly I will introduce the concept behind it.
Because you can't teach this market in one sitting. It would take days, months or years before they can truly grasp the idea behind it.
Just don't shove it to their faces and feel the need that you really teach this market. Let them learn on their own pace.
They will surely appreciate it more if they are learning on their own accord.
171  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we see repeat of 2017 or new trend? on: December 13, 2023, 09:57:22 PM
It was a golden time then.I think the same trend as in 2017 will not happen again, then cryptocurrency and mining was very discussed and hyped even among people who were very far from crypto. They wrote about it in newspapers, talked about it in the media and on TV, which caused a huge effect on the market and an influx of big money. Now I don’t see this, so I think that the 2017 scenario is hardly possible now.
This will be a different cycle, and yes we might not see the 2017 scenario again because we are aiming for the better this time. We will not see any hype because Bitcoin already hit the mainstream and doesn’t need any hype anymore because big companies are coming in and that’s what we need.

Bullish market can still happen and yes, new ATH will happen soon so let’s be more optimistic and don’t ever think that Bitcoin will not grow anymore because its not true, and you might lose opportunities if you remain negative about the market.

I am with you on this. The scenario today is different from 2017 in a lot of aspects.
The adoption alone has been increased, more users and stakeholders are already in this market.
And of course, the population who are getting familiar in this market as well is steadily increasing.
It means, the possible demand is in the positive direction. Consider that the supply of btc is fixed.
Then, theoretically, the price will increase. So that's a good indication that we will see an increase in btc price.
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The risk and reward of having Bitcoin on: December 13, 2023, 09:28:30 PM
* It can make you filthy rich during the bull run.

Unlikely. It's impossible to provide the same rate of return each cycle, that's why we see decline of about x5 each cycle. So even if it goes to say $150,000 (very optimistic scenario) that's only around x3.6 return from the current price, meaning you won't get filthy rich unless you're already very wealthy.
That's OK though, it's better to have "modest" x3 than gambling your money away sniping for X1000 coins.

Maybe the OP is just exaggerating about being filthy rich. But it can increase your portfolio.
There are pros and cons of holding btc. Now, it depends on how the holder is looking at this market.
Is he for long-term or just short-term? Because his profits will depend on when he will sell his coins.
173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone Deposited Money Into My Bitcoin Wallet. Can He Withdraw it? on: December 12, 2023, 11:58:36 PM
Someone owed me money and he wanted to pay me in Bitcoin.
So I gave him my Bitcoin wallet address and he transferred the funds.
It's now complete.
But can he now withdraw the money since he has my bitcoin wallet address?

OP is not someone so ignorant about how Cryptocurrency works I checked his post-history, and he registered on June 2023

And he had a post like this

I'm definitely not trying to sell anything. I just don't know, in reality, if a trading bot can make 5% a week on your investment. When a person watches Youtube cryptocurrency about trading bots, they make it sound like it's true. I didn't know a person could hijack a Youtuber. I guess I was hoping a professional could take a look at it and tell me if I'm being scammed. Because I was able to withdraw $10,000 back to my bank. If they were scammers, would they let me do that?

It very much contradicts his post here, he is not someone who just got into Cryptocurrency yesterday and posted this because he doesn't know anything about Cryptocurrency, he seems good at making up stories, his post history will always betray him.

That's a good catch though. So don't know the motive of the OP if his question is just to post or he has that kind of doubt?
Anyway, he will already get a lot of insights about the answers to his question just by reading the replies from other users.
This is also one good thing in this technology, if you are not very familiar how it works, you will feel lost in the process.
174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 12, 2023, 11:41:14 PM
Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?
I was coward to kill myself. No amount of money that I lost that will make me kill myself. If there is life there is hope.

This kind of problem starts from depression and hopelessness. He might thought there is no way out anymore. But this is wrong. He might be richer than what he thought he would have become if he has not killed himself.

It is painful to hear this kind of story.

When I was addicted to gambling, I lost huge amount of money and I was depressed and thought there is no future for me. But I saw more opportunities that I was not expecting after I thought all has ended.

We have the same mantra here, there's hope as long as we are alive.
That's what I keep to myself when everything seems wrong around me.
Though we can't blame some people to take it on their own hand about their fate.
That is true, for sure, he felt, there's no way out anymore on his situation.
We don't know what's going on with his mind but for him, that's his ultimate solution.
175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: December 12, 2023, 10:22:38 PM
If we are gambling because we want luck, it will be a never ending argument on which one either we want luck or we just want to play to entertain ourselves. If we want luck, I think this the beginning of something like chasing the luck and we might end up overspending. 😅

Gambling is definitely dependent on luck because if I don't have luck, then there is no way to win at gambling. Gambling is not always dependent on luck but experience is also required. I think if a gambler participates in gambling with proper planning then it is definitely possible to win. I gamble myself luck and experience play the biggest role. Proper study is the biggest role of gambling in gambling which brings the luck of a gambler.

It's better for us to gamble to entertain ourselves, and who knows, we might get lucky, which can give us a win. By gambling to entertain ourselves and knowing that gambling can cause loss and loss of money, we will be careful in gambling but also want to enjoy gambling games. But if we chase win, we will experience losses that can be big, so we should gamble just because we want to have fun. Even though we finally lose, we have experienced today's gambling game and must immediately stop gambling before things get worse. We can gamble again another day with the remaining money we have or deposit more money to use for gambling.

Either way, luck or not, people will always play. Both are in play though.
So it is up to the person how he will manage his bankroll when in front of his games.
Because the truth is, it is your money and you are the one responsible to take care of it.
Getting fun or not, it is your decision to play. So long you are not harming anyone, and you know what you are doing.
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Importance of Gambling to the society on: December 12, 2023, 09:05:41 PM
I see gambling as entertainment. No one in the society can say anything bad to me for it. When someone sees gambling as a means of making money, the society will turn against it. Gambling is frowned upon by the society. Some things are good for bad people.  Some people are looked down upon by people. Bad people gamble and lose money and indulge in bad deeds. Society cannot accept that good people are looked down upon by society when they gamble as entertainment in their leisure time.

I understand your perspective on gambling as a form of entertainment, and it's true that people have varying opinions on the matter. While some see it purely as a recreational activity, others may associate it with negative consequences when approached as a means of making money. Society's views on gambling can indeed be complex and diverse, and opinions may differ based on cultural, moral, or personal beliefs.

It seems to me that gamblers need to pay less attention to the opinion of society regarding gambling, because quite a large number of people are engaged in more obscene activities, but hide it, and gambling is one of the entertainments, which with the right approach is not as dangerous as many people think. In my opinion alcohol, smoking cigarettes have more destructive consequences than gambling, but society accepts them, and gambling does not. Don't you think that people's opinions are imposed by big business and we follow it?

This is really all about opinion and experience. I am sure that someone could come up with an example of a guy who is a heavy smoker, but lost a fortune on gambling. Yet he might be doing sports, is relatively healthy and can get along with his addiction to cigarettes. You could argue that porn addiction is not such a big issue because nobody gets directly harmed. But then what if some interesting research comes up saying that it harms long term human productivity because there are less children because more dudes prefer to jerk off in front of their screen? You could twist this so many ways. It is not an easy, yet an interesting subject what the consequences for society are of any of these addictions.

Bottomline, any addiction is bad in some ways. Every person has a different take on each of them.
There are different angles to look at it and see which side is not good for you. For some, such facet doesn't matter much.
So this topic is really subjective as it varies from one person to another how they look at it and in what way it is being influenced in their lives.
177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can old generation cause the habit of gambling in young generation ? on: December 12, 2023, 08:33:38 PM
I don't think there is much we can do to help our young generations. Environmental factor is playing a vital role in your situation. We cannot just make it not exists. If old people are doing something that may cause young people to get involved in gambling then we can try to tell the old peoples. But I  doubts that will make them understand you. The generation gap is here very big and trying to help the children won't do any better. If the elders aren't listening then why would the young would.

Let them just learn their own lessons at their own pace and time.
We can't force them to change their path and believe that they will really change for the better.
Sometimes they need to realize things on their own because the change will come from themselves.
178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A hero or a fool? on: December 12, 2023, 12:00:33 AM
I was reading some comments on line today and a story caught my attention, and I want to know how possible this is.

A guy claimed he won $5000 on a poker machine and that's where his addiction began, and when it get to the point that he lost his rent money to gambling he decide to take matters in his one way.

What do you think? This is an insanely move on oneself to stop addiction, something done right? Would you do the same if such is possible in your country?
'
I read the comments and i think people missed the vital truth. The guy that won 5000$ is already addicted; He is a gambling addict before he won the sum of 5000$ from the poker machine. The winning was simply the trigger neccessary for everyone to notice glaringly that he is addicted.

its easy to stop addiction; friends and family needs to step in and help him, mentally and medically

And also, don't forget that the gambler should have the will to change his lifestyle.
Because if it is only because of his family or friends, he can easily go back to gambling.
The change is not easy, so the gambler have to battle his inner demons to overcome this phase of his life.
But for sure, if he surpassed this challenge, he will thank himself for not digging his own grave on this habit.
179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unstable prices of cryptocurrency on: December 11, 2023, 11:42:55 PM
Do remember that it is only the price that is changing in the market, but the amount of bitcoins you have
won't change. So let's say, you have 0.5 btc, after several months, you still have your 0.5 btc in your wallet.
I understand you bought btc hoping that it will continuously increase but it is not the reality, as we have roller coaster ride in any market
not only the btc market. But the hope of most btc holders is that one day, they will unload their stash at a much higher price,
definitely, higher than their buying price. So don't panic as it is not the end of btc, you are just experiencing the up and down movement.
180  Economy / Gambling / Re: How to self exclude from anonymous gambling sites on: December 11, 2023, 11:15:47 PM
Every Decentralized Wallet dApp provides option to browse from there you can connect the wallet to any web3 site and transact there with full privacy you can use Trust Wallet, Atomic Wallet, Metamusk and any other Decentralized Wallet. So far gambling platforms are mostly run on centralized platforms. so you will rarely see web3 casino sites in the market. Because of this no matter which wallet you use you must create one now on their casino site and perform KYC as required. So in this case no wallet can make you anonymous

There are decentralized gambling platforms as well that does not require for KYC, i think they can be the best to be used in achieving something about privacy or being anonymous in using a gambling platform, just that most gamblers were too used to the KYC casinos, i don't think if casinos wallet in general terms were all not anonymous wallets that we can use for our privacy or we should go far away from them.

But these decentralized gambling platform does not have a license to operate making our funds somehow more risk of losing, or the gambling platform running away with our funds or not allowing anyone to withdraw.

Enjoying privacy by playing on an unregistered platform or decentralized platform that is not "operating legally" may give us more trouble.  So better be careful when choosing to play in unregistered decentralized gambling platform.  Who knows when they will turn rogue and run with our money?

Anyway, whether the casino is known or anonymous, self exclusion can be done by anyone by simply quitting gambling and avoiding them for a certain period of time.  There is no need to lock our fund, it is more on self-discipline and control.

If you will avail such service, you really have to consider the reputation of the decentralized platform.
Because those staking days, they got a hold of your tokens/funds, so you can't do anything if something goes wrong in their site.
Some licensed casinos though are offering such feature, but if you are very determined with this move, you can already implement it on yourself.
