Real Madrid who are in action tonight in Saudi Arabia for their Spanish Super Cup final game against Barcelona now have a game at hand and if they should win the outstanding game, they'll go two points ahead of the current league leaders Girona.

I noticed Athletic Bilbao's impressive results in the Spanish La Liga very late and now that they've gone past Barcelona, I think they are very likely to finish the season in the top  four of the league table. Barcelona have failed to replicate their impressive performance that saw them win the Spanish La Liga title last season and from the look of things, I don't even see them as a major contender to win the Spanish league this season. Now that Athletic Bilbao are in the top four of the league, I now expect a three horse race between them, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for who'll finish the season in the third and fourth spot. Real Madrid and Girona will definitely finish in the top two I guess.

The impressive performance of Bayer Leverkusen since the start of the season have made Bayern Munich to know how important every league game is and how it might affect their quest to win the league should they for any reason draw or lose any game. They were ruthless against Hoffenheim in their match week 17 game and I didn't expect anything less from the German champions.
Bayer Leverkusen are still unbeaten in the league and are also at the top of the German Bundesliga table. They don't even look like a team that's gonna decline in form anytime soon so I expect a very competitive battle for who wins the German league between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich this season

It is because of the effectiveness of those key players that made Manchester City management to sign them and if the club relies in the to be able to get good results, I don't think it's a bad idea. Gone are the days when teams win trophies because of total commitment of players because these days, a club have to be financial fit enough to sign quality and world class players to be able to win trophies and that's what Manchester City are actually doing.
In the match against Newcastle United tonight, Manchester City needed the brilliance and experience of Kelvin De Bruyne to grab all three points from that game and he came on in the second half to do that. You only get such performances from world class players.

Galatasaray actually have been one of the best and most consistent teams in the Turkish Super Lig since the start of the season and that's why I wasn't expecting them to drop points against Sivasspor in their league game on Thursday. With that result, Galatasaray are now two points behind league leaders Fenerbahce in the Turkish league standings. But I still think they're the favourites to win and retain the Turkish Super Lig title this season because they have all it takes to achieve that

Copenhagen performance in the group stage of the UEFA champions league competition this season was without doubt a very impressive one as they progressed along side group winners Bayern Munich to the knockout stages of the competition while teams like Manchester United and Galatasaray couldn't make it out of the same group and that's why some people give them a slight chance of having a good result against Manchester City when the two teams meets in their round of 16 tie. I was also one of the people who thought they had a chance against City but after watching Manchester City's second half performance against Newcastle tonight, I don't think Copenhagen can do anything to eliminate City.
When Kelvin De Bruyne was introduced in the league game against Newcastle United tonight, he changed the atmosphere at the King James Park with his incredible performance that saw him score a goal and provide an assist for the winner. Luck without doubt played a big role in Napoli's very important win again Salernitana earlier today as the home team had to wait till the 6th minute of additional time to score a winner through Rrahmani but I also think it was deserved because Napoli really pressed for that crucial goal till they finally got it.

At the age of 38, Cristiano Ronaldo finished last year as the highest goalscorer in world football ahead of young players who are in their prime like Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and even Harry Kane.

Ronaldo is not even showing any sign of declining from top football performance this season and when he was asked when he intends to retire from football, he said he's gonna play till whenever his body can't continue again with professional football and that means that he still got few more years to keep delivering top football.

We in the final 10 minutes of normal time in the first game of this year's CAF African Cup Of Nations tournament and the host nation Ivory Coast are leading by two goals to nil. Winning friendly games aren't a yardstick to measure a team's performance and despite beating Germany with a 4:1 scoreline, I still do not fancy Japan as a better contender for the Asian Cup than South Korea. There's no doubt to the fact that both Japan and South Korea are the favorites to win the tournament but should for any reason, Japan and South Korea makes it to the final, I'll be banking my money on South Korea to win Japan and lift the trophy.
South Korea are boasts of two incredible English Premier League players who are the top scorer of their respective clubs in the EPL this season. Son Heung-Min and Hwang He Chan are two prolific forward players that are in the Korean team and I expect them to help their country win the tournament

Personally, I think Jose Mourinho's had more chances of winning the UEFA Europa League competition last season when his team reached the the final of the competition before they were beaten by eventual winners Sevilla. This season, I don't fancy them to reach the final talk more of winning the competition because we have stronger teams like Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool in the competition and the above mentioned teams are undoubtedly the best sides in the competition.

However, Jose Mourinho is one manager that's very experienced especially in the European competitions as he's the only manager that's won the UEFA champions league, Europa League and the Conference League. So there's a possibility of Roma winning the trophy this season

Lens actually gave Paris Saint Germaine a good run for their money last season and were very close to winning the French league ahead of PSG but narrowly lost the battle to the eventual champions by just one point. This season, they've been a total shadow of the Lens team we saw last campaign and I don't even think they're gonna get into the top four of the French league at the end of the season.
Paris Saint Germaine are currently in a very impressive run and against Lens, I still expect them to win the game and grab all three points. The knockout stages of the UEFA champions league competition will kick off next month and Paris Saint Germaine are keen on further extending their lead at the top of the league table so that league games wouldn't be too important to them when the UEFA champions league competition returns in February.

Bayer Leverkusen is now unbeaten in 26 games thanks to manager Xabi Alonso's incredible tactical works at the German club. In the beginning of the season, very few persons would've believed that Bayer Leverkusen will go 17 league games without conceding a defeat but that's actually the reality of things at the club at the moment and the good thing about it is they're not even showing any sign of declining anytime soon.
They are missing four key members of the squad to either injury or the African Cup Of Nations.
