Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp already knows that his team has won the group E of the UEFA Europa League competition before their final game of the group which means that the result of their final group stage game against Union Saint-Gilloise isn't gonna affect their position in the group and that's why I wasn't expecting him to field a strong squad in that game of last night at Union Saint-Gilloise. The Belgian club took full advantage of the opportunity and delivered an outstanding performance but unfortunately for them, it wasn't enough for them to progress to the knockout stages of the competition as French club Toulouse defeated their hosts LASK to finish as the group runner's up which sends Union Saint-Gilloise crashing out of the Europa League competition.

The final matches of the group stages has been played and all the teams that progressed to the knockout stages has been confirmed as well. The UEFA Europa League returns in February when the knockout stages kicks off but until then.

Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the English Premier League and there's no doubt that they're capable of beating any side in the league when they play at their best but considering what we've seen from them this season, I think they don't stand a chance of getting any result from their game against current league leaders Liverpool this season.

Playing as an away club at Anfield stadium is one of the worrying moments for any club in the English Premier League because whenever Liverpool is playing at home in front of their usual exploding fans, they  tend to be unplayable. Last season, Liverpool had a bad campaign but are trying to make up for their shortcomings by winning a major title this season and winning the English Premier League is the top of their priorities this season. Liverpool are currently leading in the league table and knows how important every win can be to further strengthen their quest to claim the English Premier League title once again so that's why I think they'll surely be playing at their best against Manchester United this weekend and I don't expect Manchester United to be strong enough to stop them from winning that game.

Newcastle isn't a new club in the UEFA Champions League competition nor were they appearing in the competition for the first time but had not participated in the competition since 2003/04 season until this season that they were able to qualify again for the competition. After 20 seasons of waiting, Newcastle return to the competition was somehow disappointing and I think it was because of the fact that they unfortunately found themselves in a very tight group. The group F of this season's UEFA Champions League group stage was regarded as the group of death because of the quality of teams in that group but Newcastle still have their best which unfortunately wasn't enough to keep them in the competition. They're out and will now focus their attention in the English Premier League and any other domestic competition that they're still participating on.


Football is a game of 90 minutes as well as a game of two halves and that's why a team have to perform well in the two halves to win a match. Newcastle were undoubtedly the better side in the first half of the match but couldn't keep up with the performance of first half in the second half and that gave their visitors AC Milan a chance to come back and win the game. AC Milan is more experienced club than Newcastle in the UEFA Champions League competition and yesterday, they showed resilience and determination than their hosts which they got the reward of playing in the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League competition with that crucial win at Saint James stadium last night

David Alaba might not be playing at his best like we've seen from his days at Bayern Munich as well as when he newly joined Real Madrid but one thing factual fact we can't feign ignorance of is the fact that the Austrian is one the most experienced defenders in modern football and that's why Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti trusts him with the leadership of the club's defense in the absence of Brazilian defender Eder Militao. Alaba has made some avoidable mistakes this season but he's also in many occasions played very well for the club. I think he's gonna continue to keep his place till when Militao is fully back to fitness.

Last weekend, we saw how Barcelona were humiliated in their own home by a very impressive and outstanding Girona side and I think that has given people a different opinion about the club and how capacitated they are as a club. Valencia hasn been less impressive this season and that's why many people including bookmakers are backing Barcelona to claim all three points from that game. However, considering the fact that Barcelona will be playing that game away from home, I think Valencia stands a chance of getting something from that Spanish La Liga game on Saturday.

Considering the kind of treatment Victor Osimhen has received from Napoli in the last eight months, I don't think the Nigeria international will want to extend his contract with the club again. Last season, Osimhen's performance for the club was undoubtedly the best by any player as he numerous number of goals greatly contributed to the team's success last season but I was surprised when another player from the club win the Italian Serie A best player if the year. Again, earlier this season, there was a video in the club's official social media handle that made mockery of Victor Osimhen which he reacted to by deleting all his pictures with the club's kits on his Instagram account which the club is yet to apologise for till date. They've not celebrated the player as much as they were supposed to celebrate him and that's why I think he's surely gonna leave the club.


I want to believe that the news of Manchester United wanting to replace Erik Ten Hag with former Chelsea manager Graham Potter to be a joke because in my own opinion, Erik Ten Hag is a better manager than Graham Potter. Graham Potter did well with Brighton and Hove Albion which made Chelsea to bring him to Stamford Bridge but his performance with the London club last season I think disqualifies him from managing a big European club like Manchester United. The management of Manchester United must know that the club has not lived up to the expectations of their fans since 2013 that the club's most successful manager Alex Ferguson left the club and must go for a manager that'll bring them back to winning ways again if they eventually sack Ten Hag and not a manager like Graham Potter.

I've carefully taken my time to access the the eight teams that progressed to the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League competition after finishing third in their respective goups in the UEFA Champions League and I think there are three clubs from those eight that are gonna be serious contenders for the Europa League trophy. The three clubs I think are gonna pose great threat to Liverpool and Galatasaray -the initial two clubs that are considered as the favorites in the competition are Galatasaray, Benfica and AC Milan.

After watching Galatasaray, Benfica and AC Milan's performance in the Champions League, you'll agree with me that they were unlucky not to reach the knockout stages of UCL and now that they'll playing in the Europa League, they'll certainly want to prove a point which I think makes them strong contenders for the trophy. However, I don't think any of them have performed better than either of Liverpool or Bayer Leverkusen since the start of the season.

Nice have been outstanding with their performance in the French Ligue 1 since the start of the season and judging by what we've seen from them so far, I'm very optimistic that they're gonna have a good campaign in the league this season. However, I don't think they stand a chance of winning the French Ligue 1 title ahead of current French champions Paris Saint Germaine. PSG has been the most consistent team on the competition this season even when we all know that they've not been at playing at their best as a club. The quality of players in the Paris Saint Germaine set up makes them stand out from the rest of the teams in the league and losing the league title to a Nice team with lesser quality of players would surely not be acceptable to the management and fans of PSG. The manager of the club Luis Enrique knows he can't afford to lose the league title with the quality of players at his disposal and that's why he introduced better playing style that saw them significantly improve from their very poor start to league season while overtaking Nice in the league standings.

Paris Saint Germaine has been impressive in the league but but struggled in the UEFA Champions League competition. Had Newcastle United defeated AC Milan yesterday PSG would've not progressed to the knockout stages of the competition with that draw at Borussia Dortmund. They have a very strong squad but the manager must learn how to make good use of his players in the European Cup

Under new manager Walter Mazzarri, Napoli suffered the second consecutive Italian Serie A defeat away at Juventus last weekend and I thought it was gonna affect their performance in their final and most crucial game of the group stage against Portuguese club FC Braga yesterday but contrary to my thoughts, the reigning Italian champions delivered an impressive and outstanding performance to progress the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League competition as runner's up of the group C. The Italian champions hasn't been consistent in the Italian Serie A since the start of the season and are currently not in the top four of the Italian Serie A standings but the convincing win against Braga last night I think will go a long way in boosting the morale and confidence of the team as they continue to go fight to finish the season in a good position.
Victor Osimhen who was crowned the CAF African Best Player of the year on Monday night once again proved his worth by scoring a goal in the match. Hopefully he's gonna score many more goals for Napoli before the end of the season.

Newcastle's performance in this season's UEFA Champions League group stage might not be enough to have taken them to the knockout stages of the competition but it wasn't as bad as that of their English counterparts Manchester United who found themselves in a more favorable group than that of Newcastle. Despite been drawn in the most difficult group of the competition after twenty years Newcastle's of absence in the competition Newcastle still have delivered a good performance and were seconds away from claiming a huge victory at the Parc des Princes, the home ground of Paris Saint Germaine last two weeks before they were denied by a stoppage time controversial penalty which Kylian Mbappe converted.

 Manchester United on the other had a very poor outing in the competition this year because many including bookmakers expected them to join Bayern Munich as the two clubs that should make it out if the Group B. In a group that consists of other clubs like Galatasaray and Copenhagen, Manchester United was only able to win just one game out of the six games played and finished fourth in the group. I totally agree with your point on the subject because the young man in question was intentional with his action which he did to regulate his excesses in gambling. I didn't follow the chronicles of AC Milan in the champions league. Even when I knew their group was a deadly group, all my attention was in Newcastle because I am an English fan and the next was PSG and Dortmund. So,. I never tipped that AC will qualify for the champions league and I am surprised that they displaced Newcastle to have a slot in the Europa League. After the first ten match weeks in the Spanish La Liga was played, many people were of the opinion that despite Girona's impressive performance in the league, they still don't consider them as major contenders for the Spanish La Liga title but after their win against Barcelona yesterday at the Camp Nou, it's now very clear to everyone that Girona are in for a serious business this season. Winning against Barcelona at their own home in the Spanish La Liga is one of the rarest results in the league and for the fact that Girona were able to achieve that yesterday, they're definitely be more motivated than ever to fight for the league title till the end of the season.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is enduring a difficult time at the club as many of his first team players are out injured. The club's current financial crises limits their financial strength of signing quality players in the squad during the winter transfer window and that's why vi don't think the club is gonna win any major trophy this season as they'll need a miracle to win either the Spanish La Liga title or the UEFA Champions League title with the current squad.

In my own opinion, I think Erik Ten Hag is currently one of the luckiest managers in world football at the moment because it's very rare to see a manager who's underperformed as much as the Dutch has done for a big European club like Manchester United and still remain as the club. Just like Danny Murphy suggested, Ten Hag should've been released of his duties as the club manager but it seems the club management is still keeping faith with him because they think he can still improve the result of the club.  Just like Manchester United, Bayern Munich also lost in the their own league during the weekend but unlike Manchester United the German champions have already sealed their place in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League and that's why a lot of people are of the opinion that Manchester United will win their tomorrow game against Bayern Munich because any result apart from a win ends their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. Bayern Munich is one the traditional clubs in Europe and they know how important it is to win matches in the UEFA Champions League even when the result isn't gonna affect them in the competition and that's why I think they'll still want to do anything possible to steal a win in the game tomorrow.
