8581  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Meaning of leaving money on the exchange on: November 07, 2017, 06:36:06 AM
Hello,

I was doing some research on Bitcoin trading.

http://prntscr.com/h76g3r

What does this mean by "Ideally, when trading, only deposit to make a trade, then get your money off the exchange." from the link above. I took a screenshot from an article.

Does this mean, if i take a trade on exchange GDAX and close it the trade with a profit of say $300, I need to withdraw $300 from GDAX instantly? Or does this mean, don't leave extra money in my GDAX trading account that I will not be used for trading only?

Thanks, still learning.

It only means that you don't store all your bitcoin in an exchange because it is not safe. Most traders here will just leave a few bitcoin or altcoin on an exchange for their daily trading needs. And if the coins already grow and just sitting on it, we have a practice to moved that coins and deposit to your personal wallet like Electrum because you have total control of it. When your coins are just sitting in an exchange, there is a likelihood of a hack resulting you losing it. Or if the exchange suddenly close because the authorities says so, like what happened to BTC-e, then its gonna be difficult for you to get it back. So to be safe moved your coins out from an exchange to a wallet that you own.
8582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I sell right after the nearest fork? on: November 07, 2017, 05:21:10 AM
As you can see the BTC is rising fast, everybody is transfering alt coin to btc to get the new fork currency.
As we know, after fork the price will drop fast.

I realy want to discussed with you if I need to sell all my BTC right after my fork, and I will buy right after at low price.
What do you think will happend after the fork?

Sorry for my grammer.
Thank you

Its too early to tell if the price will really drop that fast. Although you are correct in your assumptions that altcoin is suffering right now because most traders are going into bitcoin ecosystem to get the new fork currency. If I were you then I would have to wait and see what's gonna happened after the fork. Maybe the price could sustained itself going to $8000 or more. Or better the price could really drop fast to $5500. We can't really say for certain what's going to happened until we cross the bridge. Just observed and make your judgement call after Nov. 16.
8583  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sub 7k on: November 06, 2017, 09:03:21 PM
Hiccup or bubble burst?

I still you spoke too soon because the market has rebounded above $7100. But yes, its just a minor price correction. I though that we will test $6500 again, but investors don't want to and they see a perfect buying opportunity below $7000 that's why the price has already gain a little bit.

It seems to me too early to the bubble burst. This is a small collection before going for 8000$ Wink

Yes, its too early. We need to wait till after the Segwit2x which is still less more than 10 days ago. Maybe some investors really just cashing it out and run with their profits. Nothing special here. Although it may occur again this week when the price hits $7500 in the next 2 days.
8584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone explain this to me on: November 06, 2017, 01:17:51 PM
I have only been into crypto currencies for a few weeks so forgive me if my question is daft...
If bitcoin is at such an early stage in terms of taking over even a small percentage of the world monetary system, and yet it is having to fork to resolve technical issues, is there not a more efficient crypto currency out there that wouldn't have these problems?
For example, if vertcoin had to handle the same volume of transactions would it perform better?
With over 1200 crypto currencies out there I don't understand why bitcoin still dominates. Surely there are technically far superior solutions out there. I know it was the first one but does this alone warrant it being the most popular?

I agree with you that there are a lot of superior coins out there. Take for example in terms of its anonymity, Monero is far more superior than bitcoin because we all know that bitcoin is traceable in the blockchain and they can follow you. However, Monero doesn't enjoy the support of community regarding this design. Because bitcoin is the first and the most 'trusted' eventhough its pseudo-anonymous only. And now bitcoin becomes a form of investment and store of wealth. I think being the first has its advantage specially in the crypto market.
8585  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-23] The Wolf of Wall Street Thinks Some ICOs Are 'The Biggest Scam Ever on: November 06, 2017, 12:11:56 PM
There are many useless coins and many terrible ICOs but this is another example of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
That does not mean that ALL are scams are useless.
ICO is a great tool.
We just have to learn how to use it
We easily can call 2017 as year of ICO. Among all those ICO that's are a lot of scam, mostly because of this area of business is still not regulated, but the process of regulating finelly began and I think it's good. Investors should to be protected from scammers.
I am agree with you that the idea of ICO is great, but we all need to learn to use if for good.

There are really a lot of ICO this year. They are like mushrooms popping out like every month. But its really hard to filtered which one is good and which one is not. Maybe the Wolf of Wall Street has a point here because we can't really deny the fact that a lot of them have scammed us. Regulations are coming, even China and South Korea has banned ICO because of the very same reason that some unscrupulous personalities are just having this fund raising to really screw up investors money.
8586  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Russia will regulate cryptourrencies on: November 06, 2017, 11:02:48 AM
we know that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a pro cryptocurrency and he has several planning about crypto in Russia, including mining bitcoin to compete with China in mining industry, on the other hand Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina seems against cryptocurrency. However, the last meeting; the ministry proposed to register cryptocurrency miners and to license crypto exchanges. But, it's almost a month and there is no any sign of newest regulation about this matter. Cryptocurrency bring some advantages into economy, as long as Government regulate exchanges, it will not be a problem as they can over watch money flows from abroad.

I beg to disagree to you here. I don't think that Vladimir Putin is pro cryptocurrency, he hates bitcoin. The only crypto that is going out on his mouth is Ethereum. But if you are going to see Russia's statement for the last 6 months or so. Its totally contradictory that's why I arrived in the conclusion that they are going hard on crypto specially bitcoin. They already made their own crypto, so I don't think that they will endorse another one unless it is backup by their government. Yes, we already know that crypto really brings more to the economy but I don't think Russia will allow anything that they can't control.
8587  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC is a roller coaster on: November 06, 2017, 10:04:33 AM
Yes, this is what most people say about bitcoin. And this volatility is not especially a good thing. Investing in bitcoin is a bit of gambling, not everyone like gambling.
Yap, i thought like that too. bitcoin is a bit like gambling and the price is unstable.

On the contrary, for me its not a gambling. Well if you are a day trading then it could be a case of gambling. However, if you are into bitcoin for the long haul then it could not be gambling but pure investment. Maybe the gambling factor here is the risk but everything involves risk specially investing. Seems that just a few hours ago, specially it when reaches all time high the price moves in a roller coaster, full swings from $7500-$7200 and now back to $7300. But traders seem this as a perfect opportunity to really profit specially if you know what you are doing. So for me bitcoin investment or trading is not a gambling.
8588  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin new high 7500 USD on: November 06, 2017, 08:57:23 AM
Im thinking that bitcoin will not correct its price anymore even if there is an upcoming bitcoin hardfork (segwit 2x)

Just look at the price. bitcoin make another high.

Maybe next year bitcoin price will go down to correct its price and alt coins will rise again.

We may have some little corrections along the lines and the uptrend is going to continue until maybe this time next year. I have tried to see the positive side of this price movement and sigwith2x activation will even lead to another pump in bitcoin price. $7500 is still the right time and prices to buy cheap as in 2018 we may see  $10,000 as cheap prices to buy and many has speculate here that bitcoin is going to be above  $15,000 before the end of 2018.

A healthy correction is sometimes needed to see another push in the price. Since $7500 has been hit and the next logical step is now $10000. It gonna be another historic one for bitcoin if we are going to hit it. But as of now, the price is back to $7300 after a roller coaster ride of $7500 earlier. But rest assured that we can get to $10000 sooner than we all expected.
8589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you surprise by bitcoin price now? on: November 06, 2017, 03:10:35 AM
October 29, 2017 Bitcoin price ranges from $6,000 - $6,100 and today, bitcoin price is now $7,000. Are you surprise?

I think, if only those people who planning to invest in bitcoin manage to notice this sudden increase. I think there is a high chance that they will start investing.

I was not surprised that bitcoin would go that high, what surprises me is that it happened too soon, I was expecting it to happen maybe after a year. However, after all the forks that happened bitcoin price grew even higher and more and more people are investing bitcoin. It's true that bitcoin is profitable and bitcoin is a good long term investment. Let's just see until when will bitcoin grow in the future.
Same here, I just surprised of the high increase of bitcoin in short time, I didn't expect that. It's right that i know that bitcoin will increase every period of time, but this extraordianary increase is unbelievable. I think this increase of price due to the high investement of people in bitcoin, and at this rate, I predicit that bitcoin will achieve the 10k$ soon, maybe at the beginning of  2018.

I'm not surprised on the price of bitcoin because I know its achievable, what amazes me is how the rate this price is achieved. Its very fast and this pump, I don't know where the money is coming from. That's why is so unbelievable, marketcap is $200B. And at the rate of the increased price, maybe after the segwit2x, a price correction is needed so that we can really see the true value of bitcoin. Now it is really overvalued because of the pump. Let see though how things will go after the fork. If indeed a correction is needed for this rapid price increase.
8590  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin going up? on: November 05, 2017, 11:17:19 PM
Why is bitcoin going 3% up each day?

Here is reasons that I can think of:

[1] Anticipation of Segwit2x in November 16.
[2] CME news
[3] Amazon rumor that they are going to accept bitcoin as mode of payment.

So this fresh of positive news really bring investors to get bitcoin and invest on it because the price can go to the moon later. And the more positive news, the more bitcoin price picks up. But just remember that we can't always go up, sometimes a healthy correction is needed. Just enjoy this massive bull run before it hits the break.
8591  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Scam or not ? on: November 05, 2017, 10:55:43 PM
The site is legit, not a scam. The main problem is you ll waste days to make anything worth mentioning. Their top payment, if you claim every hour, 24 hours, is something like 3 cents. Are you really ready to work that hard for 3 cents? It s simply not worth of your time.

Correct, legit and worth a try is different. I think most of us have been gone claiming faucets before, specially when you are a newbie. But later when we gained experience and found other means to earn bitcoin, we moved out from faucet claiming because its a total waste of our time, and the effort you put just to earn a measly dollar is not worth it. Its not even can pay with your electricity bill getting 3 cents a day. It can gave you a good learning experience at the beginning, then shift to other methods later like signature campaigns and trading.
8592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Accumulating alt coins before segwit2x on: November 05, 2017, 10:22:46 PM
I am looking to invest in a 1/2 dozen promising alt coins before the upcoming fork on the 16th.
I have a sneaky suspicion btc is in for a bigger correction that most folk think.
If this happens do you think it could have a negative impact on the whole crypto market and thus negatively
affect the expected alt pop.
Thx

Go for it, just choose coins like ETH, LTC, XRP and XEM to name a few. Once this bitcoin pump burst traders will go back trading once again in the altcoin section. Its just irresistible not to go to bitcoin now because of the anticipation of Segwit2x. But once is done, those altcoins traders will dump it and go back to altcoin. So better get altcoins today when they are really in dip and this is the perfect opportunity to get them while they are very cheap and at a discount price. I already made my moved a few days ago and continue to buy in dips.
8593  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-04] Credit Suisse CEO: Bitcoin Is The “Very Definition of a Bubble” on: November 05, 2017, 08:52:49 AM
I totally agree with him that bitcoin today is for making money and its really based on purely speculation. But I don't think that its a bubble, and let say his argument is true, when it burst I think people will still buy bitcoin as used it as we may see it. So there is nothing to be afraid of. People has been pouring cash on the market to earn money. And its also a good investment of most of us. And as much as they call it a bubble that is waiting to be burst, people will still buy because FOMO is real and that bitcoin will hear to stay, bubble or not.
8594  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10.000 = 1BTC on New Year? on: November 05, 2017, 05:12:28 AM
What will be a bitcoin rate by new year?

No really don't know. But if the rate of increase price continues then we may hit it. However, we don't run on a parabolic line, somewhere we may see a price correction that will pull the price down. We all love to see bitcoin touch $10000, but personally its not gonna be hit this year. Chances are in the early months of 2018, maybe you can touch it.

After I see the price chart bitcoin currently achieve on this $7400 figure the likelihood prices will always rise so bitcoin on the next new year price bitcoin will reach the figure of $10000, but this should reach 8 weeks longer to achieve the price of the bitcoin on $10000 and I am sure at the end of this year will likely reach $8500 at the end of this year.

I have the same though. We are probably around $8000-$9000 at the end of the year. It will take a lot of money from new investors to really push $10000 this year. But whatever the price at the end of the year its gonna be huge and we should all celebrate New Year with a bang, thanks to bitcoin.
8595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs CEO Warns Not To Dismiss Bitcoin on: November 05, 2017, 04:06:30 AM
Big players are now investing in bitcoin or altcoins. Cryptocurrency market is now too big to ignore and they already know the profit potential. This will definetely drive the price of bitcoin even higher. Even jamie dimon whos bashed bitcoin multiple times had invested in bitcoin. Soon big  banks and more investment companies will also talk about bitcoin. Media will surely want to know their thoughts about bitcoin and i am hoping it will be positive. Once they agee thay bitcoin is not a bubble or scam it will legitimize it and more people will invest on it.

There is a good chance the SEC will allow BTC to list on the exchange early next year. When this happen, BTC will skyrocket. $25,000 per BTC is reachable now.

I don't know if SEC will approved bitcoin, they have already denied its petition, although they allow another review but I haven't seen any results yet.

I think no one can really dismissed what bitcoin has accomplished already. Its not turning heads and I'm sure that Wall Street personalities are secretly investing on it. Governments around the world is trying to ban it, but with no success. In matter of years bitcoin will leapfrog and no one can really doubt it, not even bankers or Wall Streets.
8596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Welcome to the new 2013 on: November 04, 2017, 07:02:11 AM
no .. it will not be the same as 2013 because now all are familiar with bitcoin and everyone is looking for it and believe that bitcoin is worth doing.
It is on its way to peak and it’s not the end yet it’s just the starting. Bitcoin is about to make its journey and will set new records of success. It is providing good chance to earn more and is easy to be transferred , investors feel safe with bitcoin because of its quick methods and more profit. All what needed is to get enter into some promising projects.

Its not comparable to 2013 in my opinion. This year alone bitcoin has risen to 700% alone, because of several factors, and one of it was Japan, in 2013 we don't have a full backing of a country, but today is kinda different. Maybe what we are seeing will somewhat put to a halt later, but with a nation backing it up, it will not crash as supposed to 2013. Its normal to see some minor corrections, but I don't see it crashing similar to 2013. And as long as investors has faith and trust in the ecosystem, it will continue to exist and grow despite experiencing price correction along the way.
8597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 5000 USD on: November 03, 2017, 11:40:44 AM
If you had 5000 usd today what would you invest in ?

1. Bitcoin
2. ETH
3. Monero

Obviously bitcoin is the best choice because the price is really taking up today. ETH because its of of the many stable altcoins, it may experience dumps along the way, but I believed that it will remain as the #1 altcoins for now. Monero, because people are finding it a good investment and this coins are very good specially if you really wants anonymity. Another coin in my radar is ETC, I think it will be pump before the end of the year.
8598  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hits $7k!!! on: November 03, 2017, 11:05:15 AM
As to my last view few minutes ago in coinmarketcap,  bitcoin breaks through $7000 and to the look of things, the price might exceed or meet $10,000 after the segwit2x coming. What do you guys think will happen after the segwit, with the view of the past two forks that has taken place?
Share your views guys.

My thoughts is that the rising price is due to Segwit2x. But after it, we may see the price going down again. But I do believed that maybe a stable price of $6500 can be seen after the dust have been settled. And then the price can pick up once more heading to $10000 at the end of the year. And as long as there are no news that will hugely impacted the price in the next months of so, I think the target price can be achieved. We all just wished that new bumps will occur so that we can see a bull run coming Christmas season.
8599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why trading is better than gambling? on: November 03, 2017, 10:37:22 AM
Because trading offers more possibilty of getting wealthy unlike gambling which the percentage of getting reach is 1 in a billion. Trading is so much better and I enjoyed it much more and unlike gambling that affects me in the opposite side which is stressing me out.
Another reason can be that gambling is mostly depend on our luck, there is very little use of experience and skill, while in trading we need to have good experience. So if a person have good experience and trading skill he can make good profit from trading as compare to gambling.

Gambling depends on chance that we may predict the outcome of the game while trading somehow have the same aspect but there is always hints and factors that will tell us the trend of the trades, unlike gambling that purely depends on its internal setup which is kinda difficult to guess because of the randomness of the result.

And we don't want our money based on chances here. At least with trading, you have a high chance because you only put your money that you think you will give you a good yields. While in gambling, eventhough you think you are winning already, a sudden change of luck with their the tide against you. Plus as you gained experience in trading, the more chances that you are going to get a least a profit for your every investments.
8600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2017 is the Year for Bitcoins.... on: November 03, 2017, 10:08:33 AM
I was browsing for news in bitcoins last week when I got intrigue with this title in an news article.  In deed, the biggest test for bitcoins in this year for there are a lot of scares with its operations.  There has been issues with its legal basis as China and South Korea has halted their exchange operations.  The all time low bitcoin value then the sudden increase of its worth... It has been a roller coaster... but thankfully it survive and here we are...

Yes it is the year where bitcoin become fame. Where the number of users are increase. Many people specially those people who are veterance here in bitcoin saying or thinking that this is it. This is the start of bitcoin to become legalize in the whole world. They see it in a very positive way.

Yes 2017 is the year when bitcoin gain popularity and the emerging millennials and previous generations has found bitcoin to be good for investments. Although there are problems that we have faced, bitcoin still rises. And its like watching a soap opera, lots of drama in the beginning, specially the debate on the scalability early this year, but its all part of our past now. Now the future looks bright heading for 2018. But we won't forgot how bitcoin manages and emerges in 2017.
