Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Now ETH is going down to the dip. You SOLD or HOLD?

Eth is good now. you can still hold it because i just came back from 300$ again. i panic too when the price on sept 5. is 280$ and just like that it comeback to 300$ so no worries . hold Eth.
Holding at this point seems little risky to me after China ban on ICO first and now on exchanges. This seems to be a little worry and panic will definitely be created in market because of the biggest player in the market China banning is a huge concern this will put huge selling pressure and due to which market ideally will be going down. So for now selling is better which ever coin you hold it. You can buy later once the rise starts again. We can use the opportunity now that it goes low, soon ot will rise. Btc have lots to offer especially in the future so invreasing in value is always possible. For experienced traders, this is a perfect time to buy bitcoin or ethereum because the price is going down. So besides holding, buying is that best options for most of us. But of course, we can't really force investors specially newbies not to dump their coins in this dip. They have been warned already, but if they continue to do so its their lost, not ours. And let them learn their lessons in the hard way. So its better just to hold and let this storm calm down.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better that China just gets out of Bitcoin?
|

Bitcoin was sailing along nicely yesterday and apart from the usual technical issues that accompany Bitcoin and other alts there was generally a positive outlook for Bitcoin. Suddenly the markets went crazy when the rumors came out that China would ban Exchanges from trading in Bitcoin. Personally I am getting fed up with China news having such a big influence on Bitcoin. Nobody knows now for the next few days now what is likely to happen and whether Bitcoin will fall hard should this rumor turn out to be true. What will be the result? - a significant fall followed by longer term stability perhaps. Either way we can't keep having this uncertainty if Bitcoin is going to get acceptance in the general community It seems that you are a novice here And thus you likely didn't hear about the Chinese central bank (PBoC) taking steps against Bitcoin in the very beginning of this year. In fact, I don't remember quite well what was the first step the PBoC took against Bitcoin in the first half of January, 2017 (circa 11th), but Bitcoin crashed from +1,200 dollar to almost 750 dollars per coin. Regardless, Bitcoin rebounded pretty fast and with a vengeance at that. The second time they banned Chinese exchanges from allowing Bitcoin deposits as well as withdrawals. This second time should have had a more drastic effect on Bitcoin price but it hadn't. People saw that Chinese Bitcoin exchanges are mostly fake, and today people seem to have forgotten that I never forgot all the fuzz beginning of the year the the Chinese market is manipulating the price of bitcoin with fake volumes so that PBoC has step in to stop this kind of fraudulent activities. They even suspended trading that's why the price crash ~$1000. The banned on deposits and withdrawals follow suit as well. Its around March-April when they decided to allow them to processed withdrawals/deposit but with a note that if they are caught once again. They will be suspended and subsequently closed.

How can you control it in the first place the market is driven by speculation? There are bad and good side of it, however, its one of the main driver why most of the traders are into the market. They used speculation for profit. For me, its really difficult to clamp out speculation, its up to the individual to really believed speculators or not.

I don't understand why china will go against bitcoin as to prohibiting bitcoin exchangers in china. That country rely so much with digital payment and most people there are widely using cyptocurrencies. One thing they should do is just regulate exchangers and don't ban it.
It was really quite a surprise news from China. As we all know that they are bitcoin friendly. But in just 5 days, two negative news coming from them is no good for the market. I see news that they are not totally banning ICO but will put regulations instead. So I think they should do this for the local exchanges there as well. Let's see if they are going to change their decisions.

Usual manipulation from China, we don't really care about their ban. They can ban every single thing about crypto currencies. It would be their loss, not ours. It's not a children game, they must be consistent about decisions.
I agreed, they make the market crash by announcing they are banning ICO, then change their stance. Now the market has crash again because of another news saying that they will shutdown local exchanges. 2 negative news coming from them in a span of 5 days. For me this is a total manipulation and someone from behind is cashing out big time.

Yes, this what really drove the price to dive today. Its only Chinese exchanges though and not Asian countries. Its really the news the comes from China that impacted the price negatively. We have just recovered from their ICO banning news last Monday and now this. They are really clamping on bitcoin now. I do not know what drove them to be anti-bitcoin, though majority of the mining farms are located in their country.

I don't know if this is true but looks like China is putting a ban hammer on bitcoin and the price is going down again. Looks like someone from inside is really making huge profit out of it. We have just recovered by the initial crash they did and this now? Hard to believe that they are making a U-turn on bitcoin. What's next shutting down of all mining farms?

what do you think will be the future of this market? and what needs to change so governments will start to recognize it as a currency?
Only a few government will recognized bitcoin as it is. But most of them are against it because of it decentralized nature. The closest thing we can get is that a government will put a tighter regulations on bitcoin, but not totally adopt as Japan or Australia did. We will have to wait and see, but I seriously doubt that many will follow because the design of bitcoin is that no one can have total control of it, not even government.

Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud mining

on: September 08, 2017, 03:53:14 PM

I have bad experienced with a cloud mining "hashocean" I think. And also my friend, we've invested and like cloud vanished and not leaving any traces at all. After that I've started to doubt bitcoin and leave. Until now I came back to regain what I've wasted for so long. Scamming sites are made to gain profit to fool others that I condone and will not be on that situation again. My advice is just be careful and be observant on anything/sites other than this forum.
I also had a bad experience a few months ago with a cloud mining. But they are a total scam site. Never again I fall for their trap. Initially thought that they are legit, however, it turns out that I'm wrong. I'm not saying that they are all scam, but some are only there to really get people's money. So beware.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying GPUs, need an opinion
|

GTX 1080 is lower hashrate than GTX 1070 on ETH, but somewhat better on everything else I've seen. For Skein Groetsl and the ZEC algo in particular, it's about 15-20% higher hashrate than a GTX 1070 if they are set to similar "OC vs a Founder's Edition" settings.
Whattomine assigns hashrates arbitrarily, sometimes they are "reasonable" sometimes they are quite a bit off, and OC/UC/UV/TDP settings will affect that a LOT anyway. Nothing they can do about that, given how wide a range of hashrates the SAME CARD (much less the same GPU in different cards) will demonstrate depending on settings and luck in the Silicon Lottery. They do seem to assume "modded BIOS" cards on the AMD side, and some OC from most of the hashrates I've seen them use.
It's a useful site, but you need to know what YOUR cards will manage for it to be a good comparison site.
I just use the 1080 for ZEC. It is much better there.

The Volta card unveiled is the GPU Compute card as other Tesla's have been.
This is what the 2080 and 2080ti will be eventually based upon, just wait another year for that if you're interested in it.
if you're interested in profits now, I suggest you pick up some 1070s and get to making some $$$
Now as a Gamer, I can't wait for the 2080 series, especially on the mobile side. 4k Ultra @ 60+fps on a laptop on basically every game anyone? Yeah that's coming.
good choice to buy now the 1070 but the 1070 should be 10% faster, it's maybe better to wait if you have already a farm, waiting for volta instead it's stupid there is too much time to wait and profit to lose Next spring and a big boost. This is really good for zec mining. Here is my logic https://coinmarketcap.com/Rank---Coin------Total Cap----------Coin Price------Coins Mined-------- Daily Volume 17.......Zcash.....$124,925,489......$97.78............1,277,606............ $7,113,760 nvidia is the clear winner at mining this coin The cap is low compared to Nvidia's $52,000,000,000 plus cap. They can easily prop Zec's price to ensure cards sales. Basically a rebate or commercial for their cards. And they can actually make money trading the coin. So it is potentially cheaper and more effective then any rebate or commercial. http://www.coinwarz.com/network-hashrate-charts/zcash-network-hashrate-chart 80mh is 120,000 1080 ti's or 84,000,000 in sales we know the network is a mix of many different cards, but the gear growth potential is huge. nvidia and amd know about this is clear, they are releasing moster gpu for this sector too, but not only zec is good for nvidia, lbry is good too, maybe nvidia is behind the last pump of lbry? could be by how the thing are going yeah could be. I see that diff could 2x and price could stay at 100 usd with zec and the coin would still make money for miners. It has been an amazing run for Gpu mining more then 15 straight months of good coins for Gpus and when you look at watts the alts have beaten BTC for more then 1 year in a row. @ Eyedol-x yeah it looks like a lot of growth with the 2080 ti's next year. Early this year, if you pay 0.2/kWH for electricity, it was not very profitable. That is right. It is very profitable now.

To clarify, this "card" is speced for AI and deep learning development. It's going to be I N S A N E L Y expensive. This is NOT a consumer grade product, yet. Volta will be the basis of the next gen Nvidia cards, but the specs on this thing aren't what we'll see in desktop GPUs for some time.
I think so. It is not for us mining.

Some guys got arrested for mining in Venezuela or something like that recently, right? I heard their farm got taken away and that's all I remember. Just make sure you're not pulling too much power because that could happen to you, too...
That was in the news. The power supply is also not reliable.
