8601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2017 is the Year for Bitcoins.... on: November 03, 2017, 10:08:33 AM
I was browsing for news in bitcoins last week when I got intrigue with this title in an news article.  In deed, the biggest test for bitcoins in this year for there are a lot of scares with its operations.  There has been issues with its legal basis as China and South Korea has halted their exchange operations.  The all time low bitcoin value then the sudden increase of its worth... It has been a roller coaster... but thankfully it survive and here we are...

Yes it is the year where bitcoin become fame. Where the number of users are increase. Many people specially those people who are veterance here in bitcoin saying or thinking that this is it. This is the start of bitcoin to become legalize in the whole world. They see it in a very positive way.

Yes 2017 is the year when bitcoin gain popularity and the emerging millennials and previous generations has found bitcoin to be good for investments. Although there are problems that we have faced, bitcoin still rises. And its like watching a soap opera, lots of drama in the beginning, specially the debate on the scalability early this year, but its all part of our past now. Now the future looks bright heading for 2018. But we won't forgot how bitcoin manages and emerges in 2017.
8602  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying clothes with bitcoins? on: November 03, 2017, 08:50:29 AM
Buying clothes with bitcoin is possible. Even in the services section several users described their services such as printed t-shirts, and other clothing apparels. In reality spending bitcoin for clothing needs doesn't looks good, because of the growth happening with bitcoin the money spend on a cloth looks cheap today, but the same makes the cloth unworthy tomorrow when price increases.

There are already some who is offering their services like shirts to be payed in bitcoin. Just go search in our forum. However, as much as we like it to be accepted, it is still not the case so far. So the only options is to convert our bitcoins to our local fiat. Even bitcoin friendly countries haven't had a store that accepts bitcoin except for Japan.

We may have to wait for a couple of years before we can finally see bitcoin as universal payment. But for now that options seems so bleak, specially with the increasing price of today.
8603  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A university in Vietnam receives tuition fees in bitcoin on: November 01, 2017, 02:57:24 AM
Le Truong Tung, President of FPT University announced on social network on October 26 that the university with accept Bitcoin payment of tuition, which will be first applied for foreign students.
http://vietnamfriendship.vn/FPT-University-acccepts-Bitcoin-payment-05-16697.html?page=40

Oh well this is a welcoming news if indeed it is true. I think this is a great move since there are a lot of exchange or foreign students who are studying in most Asia region because the tuition is very cheap in there but the education standards are very high. I also hope that foreign students will take advantage of this kind of payment method, they don't need to bring USD or Euro in them, just a simple scan of their QR and they are done.
8604  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling ends on: November 01, 2017, 02:40:31 AM
They are making fool of themselves by saying that they can win if they deposit huge amount. But as we all know gambling is an addiction and addiction isn't good. They will eventually loose the money and will search for more to deposit

Yup and the only one that they can fool is themselves. They will tell others that they are on a winning roll however, if you look at it they are on the negatives. I have seen a lot of them already, claiming to be always the victor but its the other way  around. And as far as getting rid of gambling? Its impossible because its also ingrained to everyone. Its how you control yourself not to be addicted to it.
8605  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin All Time High Hit - 6300 on: November 01, 2017, 02:08:02 AM
Nah, $6316.85 was already hit few weeks ago. New all-time high is $6420 mate. Even it is expected, still when I'm seeing the price can't believe we are this far and keeps on getting farther. Can't really wait how high would be the price on holiday season.

Yes mate, I can't really believed that we can go this far and we are still in 2017. Started this year with less than $1000 now its more than $6000, what can you still ask for bitcoin?

I'm also glad that I really go back into my bitcoin activity like trading, otherwise I will still looking ways to find extra money in online world. And so bitcoin is really a life saver and a blessing and we are still in its infancy stage. Maybe in 2-3 years, the price can also be doubled or tripled, making some of us millionaires then. So just keep on buying and holding on our bitcoins.  Smiley
8606  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-31] Bitcoin Expanding in Japan on: November 01, 2017, 01:41:21 AM
I don't think that the article is correct, bitcoin has already been adopted in Japan and has been expanding eversince, what are you still expecting then? The problem is with the tourist, they don't know what bitcoin is so of course they will used their credit cards to pay and buy things in Japan. There are literally thousands of stores already accepting bitcoin as payment, there is no need for "expanding" it there.
8607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any one effected? on: October 31, 2017, 10:54:56 PM
This Is what I found in my mail box, Xapo is one of the most trusted wallet and if their wallet can be effected this is bad, do you think Xapo is at fault here? And most importantly has any one out here been effected, if yes how much you lost, is Xapo going to restore it? I was suggested to use xapo but I opted for other wallets, so I am safe but wanted to know what's happening to others.

We want to let you know that our security team has recently detected a series of phishing attacks and some of our users have already been affected. During these attacks, malicious sites impersonating Xapo’s platforms, requested crucial security information such as login credentials from our users.

At first glance, it is extremely hard to tell the difference between some attackers and a real site. This comparison below shows how difficult this can be.

Thanks for the heads up to the community.

Although I'm not a Xapo account holder, I think is becoming a common event now that there are a lot of phishing attempt or even a hack attempt that involves crypto so its really hard to protect ourselves from such attack. Use our common sense but sometimes its really hard to distinguished a attack from a legit email from exchanges. So I can only advise to be very careful and not to click on any links that we see specially in our email.
8608  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-31]Survey: Younger Americans More Interested in Cryptocurrencies, ICOs on: October 31, 2017, 10:26:06 PM
Younger Americans appear to be more interested in cryptocurrencies compared to other age groups.

That's according to the latest survey published by digital student loan servicer LendEDU, which asked roughly 1,000 U.S. citizens about ether and Ripple's XRP token at the end of October. The questions ranged from whether people had heard of ether and XRP to if they would invest in the cryptocurrencies.

According to the survey, 31.6 percent of respondents have heard of ethereum (with 18.2 percent planning to invest in it) while 22.2 percent have heard of XRP (with 14.8 percent intending to purchase some).

After breaking the results down by age, the data shows that roughly a third of respondents between the ages of 18 and 44 planned to invest in ether, while another third did not. The final third was uncertain.

A far smaller portion of adults aged 45 and up planned to invest in ethereum, with between 89–98 percent of respondents saying they were either not going to invest or were unsure.

The results of the research closely match LendEDU's previous survey, which instead took a focus on bitcoin. In that survey, the majority of respondents who had heard of bitcoin were also in the younger age ranges, while older respondents indicated less awareness of the cryptocurrency.

The latest survey also looked at initial coin offerings (ICOs), finding that roughly a quarter of respondents had heard of the blockchain funding model, while 75.1 percent had not. However, there was some uncertainty around the status of ICOs among even those who had heard of them.

8609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 31, 2017, 09:09:52 PM
oops, i was also looking forward to  a Nadal v. Fed part 5 as the year needs that to climax it successfully . Too bad he couldn't make it but Rafa  shouldn't think he's going to win it easily and be taken by surprise.
Indoor hardcourt it is, a fair number of players can beat him on such conditions, let's not forget Nadal has ONE title on indoor hardcourt, won in ... 2005!! He is vulnerable. Could lose to Goffin (if Goffin is healthy), Dimitrov (despite his recent wins over him), Querrey, Del Potro (if not tired  Cheesy), Pouille, even Verdasco. I am curious to see how he looks against Chung who is no joke this year.
We could see Federer vs Nadal part 5 on atp Finales in London. I think that Rogers body is not in the condition to play entire year on the highest competitive level and he must set up priorities to him self. Paris and London is too much for him sice it is the end of the season.
I agree, Paris is very fast this year, Nadal could have a potential problem with some of the players but Query is no longer in that circle of players. He lost today , defeated by Serbian player Krajinovic. It is so unexpected because Query had a chance to qualify for the Final in London. He should`ve done better.

Correct, that's why Federer is taking much vacation to heal his body and only prioritizes tournament. Just like you I'm really looking forward to another Federer Nadal classic. I guess Query is not his old self because he is defeated by Krajinovic which for me is a unknown. This what separate a great champion from a great tennis player. A great champion plays consistent while a great tennis player doesn't have that.
8610  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Most supportive cryptocurrency countries. on: October 31, 2017, 08:39:36 PM
Quote
I'm not sure that Russia belongs on the list. Like China, they have flip-flopped on cryptocurrencies for years. The Prosecutor General actually said in 2014 that using Bitcoin was illegal, because it functioned as a "money substitute." This stance was never enforced and indeed seems to evolved into a more progressive stance. However, they have continued to block access to cryptocurrency sites/exchanges, and released a new list of banned domains just a couple months ago.

The government has also made conflicting statements (and there are conflicting rumors). On one hand, the Finance Minister says it makes no sense to ban cryptocurrencies. On the other hand, there are rumors floating around about the "Crypto-Ruble" and that once it is launched, mining other cryptocurrencies will be considered illegal. I wouldn't include Russia simply because we have no idea what their regulations will end up looking like.

Japan, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland are definitely all taking progressives stances and are encouraging innovation and adoption.

I fully agree. Russia could not decide whether they would be really supportive of Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency movement in general or they would be following the ban path pioneered by China. Maybe by next year we can be able to know what can be its final decision. Right now, we are hoping that there can be a strong lobby from the many Russians who are now into the cryptocurrency market for the government to instead formulate regulations rather than an outright ban.

As far as the top supportive countries for Bitcoin, it should really be Japan at the top and we all know why. I think it is Japan that lead the way on how to work with Bitcoin and make things to the benefits of the country's economy. Other countries who are afraid that they can be gobbled up by Bitcoin should look at the model set up by Japan.

Right now, in Asia, we also have South Korea (though there is an ICO ban in there), Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines and maybe also Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam as countries that can soon be loving Bitcoin. I am also excited of what the continent of Africa can be able to contribute for the progress of Bitcoin (it can be a good medium of exchange in places where conflicts are existing).

Interesting insights! If i am keen to learn more about Japan's model, as well as other countries you mentioned - South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Php, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, how would you suggest I learn more about them?

Re: Africa, agree, which countries would you bet on, that will become the earlier hotspots there?

Vietnam just banned bitcoin - https://www.coindesk.com/vietnams-central-bank-announces-ban-on-bitcoin-payments/

To learn more about them you should look for news relating or bitcoin in that country. Or you can try to check their local boards here however, you need to translate everything. As far as Africa, I see Nigeria as the emerging nation in terms of bitcoin in Africa. For more news you can also follow bitcoin scene in Africa here: https://bitcoinhub.co.za/
8611  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-27] Warren Buffett: Bitcoin is a bubble, as it doesn’t produce value on: October 31, 2017, 07:42:45 PM

Maybe Warren is right, Bitcoin can be a bubble, but it helps to build new financial system for new generations. It already helps a lot of young entrepreneurs get rich, they are free from hard work 9 to 5, and are able to put their mind and ideas in something important projects for humanity, like Elon Musk did.
I don't feel like we've hit the real bubble yet. I agree on the fact that this year has been a crazy right but there's still a lot of ground to cover. Bitcoin will keep amazing people. That's for sure.

LOL! Warren Buffet is an old folk with the knowledge and understanding of old stock trading.
I think Mr. Buffet clearly don't understand how the cryptocurrency ecosystem works, today the market is up and tomorrow the market down.
Lots of very educated and highly experienced people with trading background called bitcoin a bubble, though! But bitcoin continue to prove them wrong because bitcoin is setting new all-time high record nearly every 2 months. I think whoever thinks bitcoin is a bubble - side himself with the old folks that doesn't believe in bitcoin, that is why they don't to embrace it. Bitcoin is a revolution created by the youth, so never mind what old people said about, they'll surely hate it because it's something they don't really understand and you know how people treated something they don't understand Smiley

It just shows that bitcoin is not for everyone, not even with the likes of Warren Buffet who is very much successful financial trader. I guess he doesn't want to put his money, although he has a lot, so something that he can't really understand and figure how the price is going up without backup from a government or SEC. It's too much for the old man. lol. I hope he made the right decision though, maybe in a few years he will change his tune to bitcoin. That would be really epic.
8612  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you agree with Warren Buffett's Thoughts on Bitcoin on: October 31, 2017, 06:27:03 PM
We have our own opinion on everything, although we don't like what he says, let it be. I have the same opinion as others, Warren doesn't have a slight clue on bitcoin ecosystem. He is a stock guys for crying out loud. And saying that bitcoin is a bubble? How about those company that he invested during the dot com days? Isn't it a bubble as well and it was burst sooner than we think. He already made tons of money investing on company that has been busted, so I think he has no right to claim the bitcoin is just another bubble, because himself was also a victim during his heydays.
8613  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prices rise high on: October 31, 2017, 05:25:31 PM
As of today, the price is really going high, as high as $6400. Maybe tomorrow we can crossed $6500 so if anyone still have doubts then I don't know what will really sway you to believed that bitcoin is real and here to stay.

Day by day the bitcoin awareness is increasing this we have to accept first due to the rate increase of bitcoin lot of people holding the bitcoin in the expectation of more hike in rate it not wrong and we are here to make profit only and at the same time we have a very big dream which can be achieved with the help of Bitcoin only. Hopefully bitcoin users are growing and the demand will increase so we have to react accordingly.

Obviously, this year alone bitcoin has gaining wide acceptance, although not the acceptance that we are expecting, not yet. But the rate of adoption is really going places, so its just a matter of time before anyone I mean any store online will accept bitcoin as mode of payment. We just need patience here.
8614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gas fee? on: October 31, 2017, 03:39:41 PM
How to do if i dont have gas on my wallet?
What is the required eth for me to deposit my token to the etherdelta?

and who is a good human that will let me borrow the required eth for me to withdraw the token that ive earned

I think gas is like the equivalent of mining fee in bitcoin market if I'm correct. I have a similar issues as yours, I have a token in myetherwallet and when I try to send it a exchanges, I can't and later did I know that I have to deposit some eth on myetherwallet so that I can moved it to the exchanges. But good thing I didn't moved it because the price is really going up lately, so I can't answer your questions regarding how much eth you need in able to get your tokens out to a exchanges.
8615  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin just jumped $200, and then dumped $100... on: October 31, 2017, 03:10:36 PM
its because someone with loads of volume wanted to get in. Lots of fomos getting onboard now.
Im long from 700 Smiley

Then FOMO are real. LOL. Yeah this price swings are not for the faint of heart although we love to see how things are going now. If went to $6400 briefly then went down again. hahahaha.

If for beginners in the world of crypto may be very surprised to see the movement of bitcoin that goes along with the rollercoaster, but for those who already understand this is normal. Grin

For those who have really understand, then this is no surprised although as I have said, its really fun to see those kind of swings in a few minutes or hours. But for those who have joined the picture recently, its gonna be a mixed emotions for them, some might get nervous specially when it fall in couple of minutes, while others are enjoying seeing that they are making a profit (although small).
8616  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is falling, But don't worry! on: October 31, 2017, 02:20:16 PM
Looks like bitcoin just had started a massive bull run again, we are just above $6300 and its just beginning of the day. I think we can really touch $7000 now, $6500 is just a couple of days from now. Its the end of the month and bitcoin is still not done with October, LOL. I think we shouldn't really be worried if the price of bitcoin falling because when it recovered, the price is going on very strong and even higher than its previous price. Let this be a lesson's learn for all of us, specially newcomers in the market. Don't panic and just hodl because the price fall is just temporary.
8617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: who hate altcoins ;) on: October 31, 2017, 12:21:14 PM
i hate eth and all other coins

my one love is only BTC

what about you?

Definitely bitcoin is well loved because its the #1 crypto for making money. However, you can't call yourself a crypto enthusiast or crypto trader if you haven't owned a least an altcoin like ETH in your lifeltime.

Just like the others have said, bitcoin for long term holding, while altcoin for short term because you can easily make quick profit of of them if you know how to choose a good altcoin. And also bitcoin has compliment itself. When bitcoin is mooning, altcoin bleeds because they all shift their money to bitcoin. So no need to hate them, they are what they are "alternative" for our beloved bitcoin.
8618  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's your current strategy? on: October 30, 2017, 02:19:57 PM
It looks like today, the best strategy is just to buy and dips hodl, rinse and repeat. Day trading is very difficult if you are going to ask me, because the price of bitcoin is really high, perhaps some altcoins is good for day training but bitcoin, no, not anymore. So it you see that the market price is dropping then buy some to add to your accumulated bitcoin then just repeat the process until such time that you have accumulated a total of 1 BTC. You wouln't notice it. But time is your friend here. Probably around 3-6 months you will see that you have 1 or more full BTC already.
8619  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-30]China Bitcoin OTC Report: 100mln USD Traded Over 3 Platforms on: October 30, 2017, 01:43:03 PM
I am quite sure that this is a solid warning to all governments that if they are planning to act similarly to China, the result is that trading will move 'underground', further outside the reach of governments.

If you want to maintain some level of control, then make sure you set up proper regulations that to some extent are decent and fair for all involved parties. Governments have to accept that Bitcoin is here to stay.

That being said, Chinese exchanges will slowly pop up again, because the governmental actions were not permanent, despite people thinking that China has banned Bitcoin ~ it's ignorance from the highest levels.

Straight to the point there mate. Chinese bitcoin holders will really find a way to convert/trade their bitcoin because the Chinese choose to closed their local exchanges. Look what happens next, bitcoin was traded underground resulting to losses on the Chinese side. If they thought that closing exchanges will stop Chinese bitcoin holders then they are very wrong. Imagine if those bitcoin goes to their exchanges, its a win win situation for them. So what do they do next? allow local exchanges to operate again? Remains to be seen.
8620  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Forgot password and second password but have ... FOR PRO MEMBERS on: October 30, 2017, 12:33:25 PM
Most probably it is an encrypted wallet, as you said "the private key looks like: long string /short string A==", Hence recovery of bitcoin is only possible with a password. If you don't remember that then try to remember, you can brute force the password if you remember some part of it. that is all what can you do. Don't forget to search your PC or Home for the recovery backup phrase as with that you can easily get access to your bitcoins.

Yeah probably encrypted so the best thing to do is to brute force it. However, there are services that being offered here to somewhat help you brute force your password. Just you search the forum dude, you don't know maybe they have help you recovered your account and your bitcoins. I just hope that you learn a valuable lesson here. Questions though, how much bitcoin is in your wallet though, seems that you didn't put it up.
