181  Economy / Economics / Re: Carbon markets and climate change mitigation, Are we in the right direction? on: February 09, 2024, 05:35:48 PM
I'm not an expert in this science, hearing about the carbon market seems funny. what I have seen in YouTube videos is that to maintain the balance of the earth,  must reduce excessive industry. Due to the growing effects of industrial changes, hot temperatures are increasing and the climate is not controlled. the concept of things like that is just a method that causes itself to become damaged. like rising sea water due to the effect of large ships which continue to increase due to great pressure
Maybe it is truly funny? The OP already said the reason why. I think the problem is not about the excessive industry but it's about how they operate and I don't believe that experts invented that kind of thing only to damage more the earth. They actually created it to reduce the carbon emissions but it's just that there are abusive people who thinks they can make more profit out of it if they build more industries which emits carbon.

The effect that you said there is known as global warming and other than the large ships, the melting of ice in the Antarctic Ocean due to global warming might be another cause for the water level to rise. This is alarming.

I think its funny because I don't think the poor countries even know this market exists and it's them that will be more affected since they are the ones who couldn't build industries while the rich countries today are buying to enable their industries.

Looking at it as a whole since 1930s, these big countries are already contributing to climate change and global heat while the poor countries do not even have highways where cars are running. Do you mean to say, that these poor countries will remain as is while the rich countries will still continue to contribute global heat to worsen climate change because they participated in this carbon market?
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Taking a break in gambling on: February 09, 2024, 04:45:29 PM
There are lots of activities to do to divert your attention instead of thinking of gambling. Who knows this could lead to finding a new hobby that you are more passionate about. Like taking care of yourself by going to the gym. lots of women in there by the way. Cougars  Grin  Learn how to box in the gym, the sport is pretty much helpful in keeping a person fit.

Not that I really need it but if I am taking a break from gambling, I might just take time to practice shooting. Gotta learn how to shoot, this is very much needed either for hunting or to defend yourself. Hunt rabbits for their meat could be fun.
183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Beterbiev vs. Bivol - Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship on: February 08, 2024, 05:12:42 PM

I think both boxers does not want drama, they just want to fight and declared to be the best in their division. This should be fun, and a lot of money are stakes in this fight, so they can't afford to postpone it worst cancel it. The venue is set, people are expecting it, this should happen.

I'm not discriminating but this is what I like about Russian-based fighters they came to fight they don't want dramas compared to US-based fighters, they don't thrash talks and they behave well in press conferences, maybe because of the language barriers they are not good in English.
Is there a possibility of a rematch or even a trilogy just like what happened in the Canelo - Golovkin fight?
It could be depending on the outcome of the fight, if it's gonna end up a controversial fight, then most likely the promoters will give them another shot. The fans would love it as it will create more hype and they could easily sell the fight to the fans.

Bivol here is Canelo while Beterbiev is Golovkin since he is the older champion.

If the fight becomes close I believe there should be a rematch, but of course, it depends on what happens in the first fight and the boxing community's reaction and feedback this is one legacy fight and very important for both fighters, one's zero and his title will have to go on that night.

I don't know if it will be a close one since Beterbiev is a KO artist, all his fights are in KO, so either he lose if he could not KO Bivol or this fight will end early and he'll be the winner.

His record here is just too impressive to think he'll loss vs Bivol - https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/646981

All Arthur needs is just one clip, Bivol will not be able to balance himself the entire round. I don't know how true it was but they once had a sparring according to some boxing news which Bivol also lost. Arthur had been calling Bivol before which was unanswered.

If Bivol could even win, it could be a decision. But he will have to risk slipping his shots to make Arthur respect his offense. Making Arthur fear Bivol's counter and volume punch too. Bivol is the underdog, the consolation is that they fight in Saudi and he gets a huge money bag still.
184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's problem gambling different from compulsive gambling. on: February 08, 2024, 03:47:12 PM
Was reading a gambling related article just this morning and it was talking on random issues cut across gambling responsibly, many of which I agree with.

However, there were two terms that were made mentioned of which stole my interest unfortunately they weren't explained but only mentioned. I could have just checked them on Google but I felt reluctant and said let me bring it to the community let make it a discussion among us. The two terms were Problem Gambling and Compulsive Gambling. I want to know if they are different in meaning and how different is their effect on their victims.

Compulsive gambling as I understand it simply means the act of gambling way too much, that is, as a gambler, you just can't bring yourself to stop gambling, even after winning a huge amount of money which is when most gamblers pulse their gambling activity to reflect on that win, and think of what good to use that money for, a compulsive gambler will still continue to gamble and possibly end up losing all that money.

And for a problem gambler, this is not very far from compulsive gambling, but they are still different if we give a critical look at the two, problem gamblers are those who are actually addicted to gambling, they can steal for the sake of gambling, and sometimes, they find it hard to accept that the lost on a game, which makes them sometimes accuse the casino of cheating on them, meanwhile, they are the ones trying to cheat the casino.

Quote

And moreso, there's a statement I read in the comment section which is in the quote below. I would love to have the views of slot lovers in the forum on this. How true is this statement.
Quote
All slot players are long term losers.

The statement is correct, slot players are long term losers in the sense that, if you start playing a slot game today, and luckily you win a huge amount of money, if you do not do anything good with that money and just keep playing slot game with it, you will end up losing it all back to the casino, and it does matter how big the money is, if you do not invest any part of the money in something that is bringing you guaranteed profits, you will lose all the money back to the casino in the short or long term.

All long-term slot players are problem gamblers who have compulsive gambling disorder - this is all I understand what OP wanted to say. Maybe because if you play slot, you will keep on pulling the lever and although you spend a small amount, when consolidated the value will amount to a large sum yet no wins still.

So many gambling addicts started with slots as it's the most addictive game in the casino. Even women with no history of gambling in the family can be hooked to slot. Slots that are found in gasoline stations are even straying people from where they are supposed to be going.
185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 07, 2024, 03:00:54 PM
He must be a brat. There is no other else description for such a kid when described as the Unico Hijo and got forgiven no matter how huge the mistake is. And only to find out he sold it because of gambling. This has got to be the luckiest kid as still welcomed by the father like the prodigal son. Some people just have it all.

If it were my father, I wouldn't be able to walk out of our house walking. The neighbor would have to call 911 to save my ass if I sold his crappy car.
The only stuff that I have sold that wasn't mine I think was the tennis racket of my sister she kept. I'm not even sure if she found out that it's not there in the basement anymore.
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Resources for a more reliable paroly (multi-bet) strategy on: February 07, 2024, 05:59:32 AM

Is the influencer who provides bet picks on youtube among the resources? There have been plenty of them, particularly in the NBA which has its huge studio.

This strategy is interesting for games that you are very certain will work out. This will multiply your winnings and in the safest way possible. You can even create several bets with difficulty levels and diversify the money bet.

I don't think it's safe actually I have been trying out multiple bets even just 3 matches on UFC fight night, it's always a miss. I am sometimes confident that 3 of the best matches to pick will be a win and then suddenly an underdog wins by a lucky punch. Multibets are still exciting though, it puts your hopes up thinking your win will be the biggest.

188  Economy / Economics / Re: COPA fights for Bitcoins true image against Craig Wright on: February 06, 2024, 03:40:54 PM
I've been seeing this issue with Craig Wright for a long time and I still don't know what they mean that he's fighting to become the owner of bitcoin but how does he exactly become one anyway? Are there like a key to the bitcoin vault that will allow him to get into the system? Or is it like we're paying him tributes or like a patent because he's claiming that he's created bitcoin and he wants compensation? I still don't get the appeal of winning this case for him, pretty sad life for a guy like him though.

This means that everything related to bitcoin will be under his own name, and that everyone must ask permission from him before they can use whatever code or snippets there are in the current bitcoin codebase. That's what my understanding of this issue and why CW is trying so hard to win this. Anyhow, he's losing an uphill battle from the looks of it, and there are still lots of serious issues lined up for him so he's fighting this battle aside from other fronts.

Hopefully this scum loses this, and then other lawsuits from other countries so he goes into hiding or be prosecuted. He contributed shit to bitcoin and didn't even get his scam coin get to mainstream because people know who he is.

You mean if the corrupt judge favors him or maybe Wright bought this judge, he will get to decide who are the people to manage the BTC development?

Conspiracy theories could be right once again if all these will come true. The government can take over BTC especially after this because they know the guy who was supposedly an anonymous person.

Despite no sign message and all. This is all crazy.

189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making too many picks reduces chances of winning. on: February 06, 2024, 03:03:29 PM
This should be obvious, very often on the altcoin board I see newbies thinking about investing in dozens of coins, and I wonder how do they plan to keep track of so many coins? Since a portfolio application is not enough, they need to keep themselves updated about everything that happens around all of those coins, and their lack of experience does not help either, so I know they are going to fail before they invest into any of those coins, and it is natural that the same principle applies to sport bets as well.
Well, people who invest in multiple cryptocurrencies are gambling with their money and aren't making sane and thought-through decisions, because when you make investments after doing enough research, you won't be able to do that in bulk but you will barely be able to choose 4 to 5 coins to invest in. Similarly, when it comes to sports betting, someone who bets on multiple games at once is making random bets without even knowing anything about the teams and their gameplay.

Such people often tend to lose money unless they turn out to be extremely lucky and all their random picks play out in their favour which doesn't happen all the time. This is the reason why it's important for someone to make limited bets and only on teams and matches that they know something about.

4-5 altcoins are just too few for someone who is very sure that a bull run will make him rich.

Just like a parlay still. The more you add to your multibet slip the more you lose your chance to win. The only that can make yourself dreaming though is that the amount that you'd ever win will be outstanding. But when you only add at least just 3 on your multibet slip you may win a good amount. I would prefer adding just a few and the max will be 5.

Sorry but I closed the website after 3 seconds... it's not very pleasing on the eyes, what's with the colors and the menu bar?

It's not pleasing because he used one of the simplest, most basic free templates. Kids make sites like that at school.
It looks like OP used a site making tool provided by wix.com, that's also a domain host, added a few banners, a few lines of basic text, and that's it.
Also, OP doesn't provide a faucet, but links to existing faucets.

What's the goal of this site? Are you trying to direct traffic somewhere? I see no point in making sites like this?

Referral and affiliate links is the point. I see no wrong with it but the website is not attractive.
I think OP should switch to Wordpress because there are more features to it than creating a webpage from scratch.

I see already reviews above that have comments about this, I think he could learn from those comments. This is sort of an adoption though, we don't normally see newbies who are creating websites focusing more on crypto.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏀 ⛹🏾 🚀 Winning.pub 'AI Black Box' picks on: February 05, 2024, 02:50:45 PM

There was a thread about AI being used for sports betting, it has already become a reality in a short period.

How do we check that 'AI Black Box', we know it's on BETA yet but it looks to be working that you are deploying it so is it available for public use?
Choosing the best odds is cool. I'm gonna test your picks to see if it works.  Is the AI project affiliated with any bookies?
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If a addict lives within, which method would you choose to help them on: February 04, 2024, 03:08:03 PM
1. Talk to them and don't leave their side for too long, show them some love and make sure they don't have anything to do with gambling ever again, be soft and gentle with them.

2. Be harsh about it, force them to quit, let them know that gambling isn't this safe, bounce on them all the time because you love them, don't go any soft on them, because been soft won't make them see reasons why it's bad to be a gambling addict.
The two methods will work depending on the person. But the less likely to work out of the two methods is the second. I believe that we cannot achieve much when trying to help someone change a habit by use of force or harsh method. If you want to help them, get them professional help, so they can see reason why the habit they are picking up will be bad for them.

If you are harsh about correcting some kind of habits like this, your family or friend that you are trying to correct may react obstructively to your correction, pretend like they have taken correction and continue the habit in secret. Correction has to be carefully and decisively done.

None of it will work unless the addict himself wants to change himself. Even if there is a professional that will lead him to do this but if he is not trying both will fail.

Just like smoking habits, the person will not stop until something happens and he voluntarily wants to get rid of this habit. Even the person who willingly wants to get rid of the habit will have a hard time, sometimes they will sneak around because old habits die hard.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 17th FEBRUARY 2024 on: February 04, 2024, 02:53:39 PM
https://www.youtube.com/live/q2euzZelAuA?si=mGFuKc6xhYfV7ahf

Turki, Tyson & Usyk were all just on Ariel's show. Tyson does have the cut so we at least now know it's not fake or an old injury.

I am also curious what is going to happen to all event in general. If the main event is cancelled, will the other fight also be canceled? If yes, then Fury has set up a lot of other fighters, who had several weeks camp, perhaps cut weight or planned to do that, as minimum spent money on preparation. What is going on in such cases? Does anyone knows what happens in this case? Do fighters get something as cashback? Are such things stated in their contracts?

They've just pushed it back a few months. Looks like there will be no boxing on that day now. There were rumours they were tyring to get usyk another opponent but it's probably best to not risk him losing or getting injured and further delaying it.
The fight was postponed to May 18 and now it will definitely take place.
Direct speech from the organizer: “The last attempt is when we can hold this fight, and I have set the date - May 18. I have guarantees from both boxers - 10 million [dollars], if anyone - then he refuses the fight [his opponent will receive]. 10 million is not from us, we guarantee it - 10 million from their personal funds."
In this case, the fight will be more interesting since the athletes will have more time to prepare, and the public will be more interested in watching since the event will be final and there should be no more postponements.

On with the show then. Too disappointing to just cancel the event and there is too much work in refunding. It's best to just move the schedule. In 2 months I guess that wound will heal thoroughly.  Fury's body is better too than when he fought Ngannou so they are taking this fight seriously.

$10M is more than enough for those undercards. They can't get that if the fight is held on the other soil. The cut turns out to be a blessing for all fighters.

194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What remarkable thing have you achieved with the money you won from gambling? on: February 03, 2024, 04:20:05 PM

I have not won a big amount to make some changes like starting a business for myself. But one thing that I bought when I won a small amount was a grinder.  I started polishing the grills outside the house because it's all rusty. Maybe if I won and got some extra I would also buy a welding machine one day to see if I could retouch here and there. It's not my house but I get to learn and test whether I can learn how to work with these tools.

Nothing really earth-shaking with what I spend but at least the gambling money has put to good use.
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If a addict lives within, which method would you choose to help them on: February 03, 2024, 03:49:02 PM
As a member of a family and there is a gambling addict within, which method do you think it's the best to rip off the addict from your family member?

1. Talk to them and don't leave their side for too long, show them some love and make sure they don't have anything to do with gambling ever again, be soft and gentle with them.

What do you think?
Neglect makes people go into gambling and they end up being addicts. The feeling of loneliness can make people go into gambling and become addicts. Both neglect and loneliness can result in mental illness. Love, care, and a feeling of acceptance and importance can help a person addicted to gambling overcome it if it is done genuinely and from a place of wanting to see the addict recover. This is what I would do and the person doesn't have to be a family, I can do it for a friend who I care about deeply.

Using harsh words, teasing, mocking can never be an effective strategy. Rather it would make the addict gamble more.

Hard to actually corner an addict to give up his rights unless this person is dependent.

People have different personalities. Not leaving him alone can be interpreted by this person as invading his privacy and it could take another turn which could lead him to get aggressive and in the end, instead of him getting him to avoid gambling, this will lead to a bitter quarrel. Either of the methods can be interpreted by this person as invading his privacy.
196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 17th FEBRUARY 2024 on: February 03, 2024, 02:49:28 PM
I knew, I knew that something is going to happen to make this fight not to happen. I had a feeling that it will be from Fury side. By the intense in the media (lack if it), by the weak promotion, by the lack of overall information, it was clear that nothing good is going to happen on Feb 17. They had so much negotiations about the fight before, they quickly made agreement to fighr on Feb 17, it was clear that something fishy is about to happen.

Yep, we don't know, we had this feeling that this fight is not going to happen as there was no promotion up to the last minute. Sometimes there are those fights that is not bound to happen. And it any case, the Saudi said that they are not going to have someone replace Fury, or at least that's how I interpret it because the statement says that they are going to refund the ticket.

Sorry for fight fans, we need to wait for Fury to heal that huge cut in his eye and then they will go on training and promotion again. Hopefully, if there is a second time, everything will be smooth and those negative emotions removed from Fury.

The gut feeling seem right after all. I wouldn't say Fury intentionally did harm himself but something just won't happen. They have been plaanning such bout for a long time and then this happen. People are dying to see a fight like this one and if they refund the fans for thier tickets I guess they just won't give this fight another schedule.

This Hrgovic look ferocious, I don't know why this guy earn his title fight but if the Saudi allow it then its on still.

197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rigging in sports:My Personal Perspective and discussion finding sus. sports on: February 02, 2024, 03:19:12 PM
Match-fixing is a serious issue in sports and eSports right. It's a reminder to approach games with caution and bet responsibly, as these incidents not only tarnish the integrity of sports but also impact fans and bettors alike. Stay informed and be wary of the risks associated with certain events to maintain the spirit of fair play

The rigged fights are sometimes very obvious but we are seeing it like the underdog has a chance to win because he is also a champ. So both are champs but we all know the other is superior.  Yet we proceed with the match because the sports federation/organization mandates them to fight.

This is very common by the way. If any big sports news channel will say it's a rigged fight since we know the difference in their skills, people will agree its a rigged fight but of course, none will say it.
198  Economy / Economics / Re: One of the biggest problem in our society is that average person don't have on: February 02, 2024, 03:08:41 PM

Now If you go to the bank to ask money even If they see you have good skills good knowledge they still don't give you If you not meet the criteria of requirements.
But to meet with those requirements it's allmost impossible. (The game is rigged)

It’s not almost impossible to get a loan from the bank. Perhaps you found it to be difficult as you didn’t meet the requirements and ultimately got denied. The bank is always  looking for opportunities to make money for themselves and loans is one option of raising funds for itself.
Seems like it’s now a trend that when a certain thing doesn’t work in your favor, it’s automatically rigged.

Quote
With cryptocurrency everybody can access to endless liquity and finances and that's nice the average person without education or even financial background can earn money here without rigged rules or restrictions.

Don’t kid yourself. Cryptocurrency wouldn’t solve world hunger and bring about peace in the land. I wish it were so but it isn’t.
Always whining about things being rigged, you remind me of a certain politician.

It reminds me of people who call for revolution. The system is indeed rigged. It's just that we're not on top of this system that's why we can tell it's not fair. Average people will feel less opportunity for them. But world hunger is done deliberately because there is so much food in the world, it just doesn't go to their tables.

Cryptocurrency may help in finance and hedge this inflation, I think it could improve the lives of people. The adoption of crypto is still the lacking in society today.
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 02, 2024, 01:56:18 PM
I can see what the UFC is trying to do here but after what we saw of Covington in his last fight, I'd rather see a match between two prospects.  Rakhmonov vs Chimaev imho.  I think Rakhmonov will expose Chim and give him a good beating.

That would be an awesome fight, but it would be a stupid move to set two rising stars against each other on an early stage. From the UFC perspective, it's way better to let them climb to the top by beating up big names past their primes, let them get all the fame they deserve and then set them up against each other and generate huge revenue.
But yeah, my money would go on Rakhmonov.

But pretty sure Rakhmonov will be eager to fight a vet in Covington.  And if Covington agrees with the match up and signs the dotted line, then win or lose I think he'll retire after the fight.
Why would he retire if he was to somehow win with Shavkat? I think Colby will be looking to fight for as long as he can. He's too invested in creating his persona and won't give it up easily.
He was calling out Stephen Thompson after his loss to Leon, which shows he's looking for easier opponents to stay relevant for longer.

Just a hunch...  I mean who would fight Rakhmonov unless the fighter either wants to die or he just doesn't care anymore.  Couple that with Covington's poor showing vs Edwards, I think he doesn't care much about fighting in the cage anymore.  Not as much as he used to at least.  And Covington agreeing and signing the contract could mean that he knows he's just a stepping stone to bring Rakhmonov in title contention.  We'll see...

But again, would rather watch Rakhmonov vs Chim.  :/  But the UFC wouldn't do that unless there was a belt on the line.

Check out this match.  If you had a bet on Dober this would surely get you off your seat.

UFC Free Fight:  Dober vs McKinney
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKySfqmW94A

Weigh ins in 4 hours folks...  Link to the vid is in the first page.

Nothing for Covington to capitalize on to get another title fight. He used them all up and still did not win a belt. This time he needs to risk his entire career. It's a long shot but if Covington wins against Rakhmonov, I think he will once again be proud to challenge a champ. That's what will happen after. Or not because Rakhmonov will choke the life in him.

Negative impression on children/ dependents: His addiction can corrupt the good intentions of the younger generation looking up to him for inspiration, they may grow up to see gambling as a way of life and follow the wrong footprints.

So it goes back to where it started and maybe it's all in the family or someone he knew when he was a kid. And most probably the violence as well is learned during his younger days hearing some arguments and heated discussions of couples about money.

It is a wonder how some adults who have no background in gambling found their way to addiction though.  It could be the newfound wealth also, they got filthy rich they don't know how to spend it.
