No one needs to be paid. The CEO or the owners should be the ones providing the updates and reassure everyone they are doing everything they can to overcome the situation. If it comes to hiring PR firms, then it means things are dire.

Cryptopia is a Limited liability company. (LLC) It has no "owners". It has shareholders and a director.
The shareholders don't run the company or have any say in the management of the company.
If you buy shares in Microsoft can you speak on their behalf ?

So someone will be paid for PR if there is PR.
622  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 24, 2019, 01:26:56 PM

Every good business practice that I know of dictates that, in situation of crisis, you engage with your customers. You reassure them you're doing everything you can. You provide (honest) status updates. This brings confidence to customers and allows them to support you while you overcome the crisis. If that's what you actually intend.

But here we see nothing of this kind. No real communication. No real information about what happened. If you have a channel with the owners or managers, tell them they are doing it very wrong.

Before paying someone to engage in PR they need to establish whether they can continue trading. Otherwise it is my and your funds they spend on that PR.
623  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 24, 2019, 01:13:31 PM

First, when saying delisting I mean halted trading and deposits. For at least the following coins that happened out of the blue and without prior announcement and without any of these coins suffering even an attack:
GEN, SPACE, SJW

https://support.cryptopia.co.nz/csm?id=kb_article&sys_id=3759c7bcdb45e780d7e096888a961976

SPACE and SJW have a known vulnerability that can cause immediate losses. (Undetectable until after the event)
Low network hashrate and many available cheap asics to rent make it a serious problem.
They also have no working, reliable block explorer that I could find.

GEN I couldn't find details about.

Once Cryptopia does announce their plans to move forward, what ever they may be. I look forward to how many of you will come and say you were wrong, unlikely that any will have the guts to do so. But don't worry, everything is being archived and will be posted in detail showing all the FUDers to be what they really are. I'll post a link to that thread in here too.

What is the point of that ? Some people you will never convince. It is a waste of energy and what the ignore button was designed for.

A lot of the nonsense posted here are just a couple of people who if you look at their history do that all the time.

It is quite understandable that people are upset. I am too. But it does not excuse some of the unreasonable claims and threats being made against the people that are sorting this out.

Most of the staff, shareholders, CEFs holders and coin devs that have listed coins are in the same position as the standard members of the exchange. Most of them will have crypto balances on the exchange, investments that are reliant on the exchange and few or no answers. There are many coins that are reliant on the exchange for trading volume.  It is in everyones interest to get this sorted out so everyone can have some answers.

Coincheck took 10 months to re-open. I think Cryptopia deserves more than 9 days back in their premises to provide some answers.

Most people I have spoken to have faith in the current Cryptopia management to provide answers and a solution.
626  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 24, 2019, 10:49:54 AM
Actually they did just that - they suspended trading at the moment of the announcement, that's an effective delisting.

I've lobbied on behalf a couple of coins that were queued to be delisted and got it reversed after fixing the issues that started the delisting process.

The delisting criteria is clearly stated on their website and it is no mystery why coins get delisted.

https://support.cryptopia.co.nz/csm?id=kb_article&sys_id=5d7482d2db9e9bc032a664a14a96199f
https://support.cryptopia.co.nz/csm?id=kb_article&sys_id=b8aa010ddb452b80d7e096888a961934

I've had it a number of times where the coin dev was aware of the issue for a long time prior to delisting process starting but did nothing qbout it but messaged me to help them within hours of the markets being paused.

When the issues were fixed the delisting process was stopped and the paused market resumed trading.

Oh dear - I seem to have been stabbing Suchmoon, Foxpup, and TMAN. All great members, but I seem to spend more time trying to merit the newcomers. Where is TMAN btw, I haven't noticed him around for a while.

Re: [ANN] [ ETN ] Electroneum Token
Cryptopia will NOT be listing this scam

Thanks
Cryptopia Team

is ETN not one of top traded listings?
rather odd final remarks.

Not at all. It is the ANN for ETN scam token NOT ETN COIN. It is a ERC20 token they are announcing there. ETN coin was listed in November 2017.

https://archive.fo/1QAkw In their ANN they were claiming that they will be listed on Cryptopia. He was expressing that they will never be listed and they have never been listed there.
629  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 24, 2019, 08:27:28 AM

Oh okay my bad.
Then where is an actual service thread?
Where someone can provide details and facts officially and on the record.

Their official communication channel is twitter and through the website.

Obviously the website is still down due to the security breach. Their twitter has been giving updates roughly every 14 days.

Based on the previous frequency of their twitter posts we are probably due for one soon.
630  Economy / Reputation / Re: @Timelord2067 on: February 24, 2019, 08:13:15 AM
It appears timelord is more interested in making personal attacks than getting into his tardis and answering accusations made about events that occurred last year and what appears to have been hidden from the community.

You'd be best posting in the Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk III thread...

Four merits for that?

Given your OP only has quotes it's a little hard to get that from the three posts. In any event it didn't warrant four merits. It's kind of a flimsy thread.

Irony.

xtraelv is using screen shots to prove their point.

Seems like only a couple of days ago xtraelv was debunking screen shots as being doctored.

All of this should have been in the OP not teased out like decayed teeth.

I'm sure all these comments attacking me were warranted considering nixon99 is a CONFIRMED sold account purchased from a hacker that I was exposing in that thread.

EDIT:

http://archive.fo/ZRfs9

I hold you responsible for what happened with sexcoin. I think that is reasonable since you are a Dev of sexcoin.

But Why?  You're not associated with Cryptopia.  You say that time and time again.

Out of all the 100+ alt coins that were hacked on Cryptopia last year, why do you hold Lavajumper and myself in such dismal regard that you have attacked us so?  You haven't given any other Devs or their supporters distrust on the DT trust settings, so cowering behind you hold us responsible means you have a vendetta against us.

Not all coins hid it from their community. I am also not aware of all the 51% attacks. There are other coin devs that I don't trust. There are also coin devs that are not on bitcointalk.

Again - you are claiming something that I can prove to be a lie.

I've just had a look at your own trust wall, you've called people you disagree with criminals

and you've just in the last couple of days given one user Red Trust simply because they deleted your post (poor you)

You've even given someone negative trust wall simply because they were friends of someone else you don't like:

I thought @theymos was trying to put a stop to these petty trust wall outbursts?

1) From your statement I can only deduct that you think that you believe that cryptoaeronet is NOT a criminal. Perhaps you can clarify that. Since I outlined all the evidence proving that he IS a criminal here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4509326.msg40796494#msg40796494  That link is is listed as part of the feedback. So you are either stupid or you think he is not a criminal. I take exception with that so make sure you very clearly state your position.

Are you stating that cryptoaeronet is NOT a criminal ?

2) My issues with Leocoin goes back many years. It is an MLM scam. I have pages of proof that make it in my opinion a scam. The Leocoin foundation filed certified documents stating that it has never traded...yet ...claims to be around for a long time... Have you seen the court documents alleging multi million dollar fraud ? Do you realise that the founder is facing court action and on a "no fly list" in Pakistan ?

Are you seriously defending Leocoin ?

3) Oralie9 is a an alt of a permabanned account which was proven. Again all the information is contained in the link that forms part of the feedback.

Both accounts used the same social media account names - while claimning to be a "friend" of the account.

Are you defending alt accounts of banned accounts ?

The hole you are digging is getting bigger. Sticking up for scammers to attack me ....wow.
631  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 24, 2019, 08:07:34 AM

We stole your coins.
Called it a hack.
And now are seeking residency in a non-extraditable banana Republic.

Please provide some proof of this.

And when does this service thread actually become a service thread?

This hasn't been a service thread for years. The OP hasn't posted on bitcointalk since 2017 and the other founder quit bitcointalk in 2016. 2017

Wouldn't you agree Lafu and xtraelv?

This thread is a farce. I've stopped counting the deleted death threats and complete nonsense that has been deleted by the moderator.  Stop mentioning my name.

Why don't you be more transparent yourself ?

633  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Reason Why Cryptopia Is SCAM on: February 22, 2019, 11:04:52 AM
I use only bittrex and binance. Tried this one previously but I am glad that give up soon after registration.
Bittrex has a bad reputation, besides, I had a problem with them. They blocked my account without responding to my requests. Binance is truly one of the best.

I believe Binance is a good exchange. From all appearances they have the technology, the funding, the support and the volume to be a good exchange.

Binance is not licensed anywhere, their offices and servers are in secret locations and the founder moves around all the time.

In many ways those are benefits. But it could also become an issue.

https://www.reddit.com/r/BinanceExchange/comments/87ztvs/be_careful_out_there_binance_can_exit_scam_at_any/

The advise remains the same. Keep minimal funds on exchanges
.

Dude, the NZDT has been disable for about 1 year.
Didn't you get the emails ?

Only NZDT to FIAT withdrawals were disabled.

NZDT trading was not disabled,

It was always Cryptopias intention to re-establish NZDT to FIAT withdrawals. A separate legal entity was established for that in December 2018.
635  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 21, 2019, 08:13:09 AM
Any idea how was the private key stolen? No cold wallet at all?

I don't know whether the key was taken. I'm assuming that is what happened. Potentially there are other ways it could have occurred as well. But the most likely situation is that the private key or keys were compromised. I know they have cold wallets but I don't know it affects their situation.

The breach occurred just before the Ethereum Constantinople hard fork was scheduled for January 16, 2019. Which keeps being postponed.

i check my btc adress today, but on 2019-02-08 01:32:56 they are send to another btc adress. my balance is now: 0 BTC

 Undecided

This is normal for a deposit to an exchange: the funds are often swept into another wallet, or used for fulfilling another customer's withdraw.

Just like if you deposit a $10 note at the bank, your balance remains $10, even though that same physical bank note may end up in another customer's hands.

I can't state categorically that your funds are safe at Cryptopia, just that you should not be alarmed by your deposit address showing a balance (on the blockchain) of zero.

That is correct. When you send a deposit to an exchange it is sent to an individual deposit address. It is then swept to a hot-wallet or cold storage.

The value of the deposit is transferred via the deposit engine to the exchange ledger. After a set number of confirmations it is then made available on the exchange ledger for trading. The actual amount deposited it kept in a general wallet with other deposits.

Until you withdraw the amounts that you see in on your account are only on the exchange ledger - not on the blockchain.

While it is possible to send deposits to your exchange deposit address and to a hot wallet or cold-wallet address. It will show on the blockchain but unless Cryptopia deposit engine is working will not show on your account balance.

DO NOT SEND ANY DEPOSITS TO CRYPTOPIA until they say it is safe to do so. It is unclear whether any of the deposit addresses are safe to deposit to.

If they have lost access to the private key of a blockchain address then you are effectively sending it to the hacker directly.
637  Economy / Reputation / Re: nixon99 on: February 21, 2019, 07:24:50 AM
Who says nixon didn't sold his account himself for Bitcoin ?

Seeing that he made no action to get his account back it seems reasonable to belive so.

Unless there is proof to the contrary it would be reasonable to believe his claim that it was hacked. Everything else he has told me so far has been able to be verified as truthful.

1) the accusation was made at the time within days of the alleged hack and has not been edited since.
2) nixon98 was warning others in his Octorber 2017 post.
3) the account was only a JrMember account or symilar at the time.
4) no address was staked for recovery
5) bitcointalk only recovers a very small number of accounts - it is notoriously hard to recover
6) I did not ask what else he did to try to recover the account.
7) The account was in existence when the bitcointalk database was hacked.

I would advice everyone to change their passwords on this site asap.
I just lost the above quoted account, nixon99. I'd had for 3 years.  I can no longer login.  The password has been changed and not by me.
Bit of a coincidence don't you think.
Yet the moderators in this thread seem oblivious to his posts and dealings.

There his an accusation that this is a hacked account. (Hacked in October 2017)

Can you please explain.

This can look extremely bad for the Azbit project.
Hi! This situation is extremely bad for Azbit project, yes. I hope you could help us with this problem.
I'm a community manager of Azbit project. As I know, account Nixon99 was bought in May 2018 for using to promote our project in Bitcointalk forum. The employee who bought the account Nixon99 is now fired. But we are very sorry that he unfairly approached the question of checking this account and bought stollen acc. Of course, we didn't know that this acc was hacked, and we are using it only from May 2018, as you can check it. All dealings with the seller were made by the fired employee via Telegram. So we only have a seller account on Bitcointalk, but there is no any proves, unfortunately.
As I said above, This situation extremely harms to the reputation of our project. So could you advise us what can we do to minimize the reputation loses?

I have a reply back. While I consider the rest of the project probably doesn't warrant being tainted by the feedback the account is confirmed as bought.

I sent the following reply:

Quote
My recommendation would be to negotiate the return of the account to the owner from which it was stolen. Deleting all posts relevant to the project and post made after it was hacked. Locking any threads which cannot be deleted.

Post a public post explaining clearly what happened and what action was taken.

Then getting a copper account specifically for the project to post a new ANN thread. A copper is a paid account that allows all the same privileges as a senior account. It doesn't have any history attached to it and  doesn't pretend to be someone who it is not.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote

It also allows you to name it appropriately for the project. (e.g. AZBITcommunitymanager)

The information sent by nixon99 appears to match that suggested by:

I tend to believe that nixon99 account changed hands at least two times.

It is difficult to tell if the account is hacked or sold (first 8 month stretch from October to May '18). The account was then apparently sold (according to the current owner of nixon99).

Any possible legal actions to take? Is there investigation on the way or people gave up already?

If you have lost funds as a result of the scam you need to file a complaint with the UK police and UK companies office. The only way this sort of stuff gets stopped is by people laying complaints with the authorities

Don't rely on others to make reports. I initially alerted the UK companies office through an intermediary to the fraudulent and fake registration resulting in the company being de-registered.

But victims of this fraud should make individual reports to the UK police and UK companies office. The more complaints they get  - the more likely they will investigate it properly.

I tend to believe that nixon99 account changed hands at least two times.

It is difficult to tell if the account is hacked or sold (first 8 month stretch from October to May '18). The account was then apparently sold (according to the current owner of nixon99).

One thing feels weird though, apart from a single msg in Quark ANN, nixon98 really didn't try to get his account back. No posts in Meta, nothing and we all know how bitchy (and rightfully so) are people who have lost access to their high-ranked accounts.

That did strike me as odd. But the post was just before the posting habit changes. Also no address was staked so they may have just given up on the hope of reclaiming it.

Some people bitch and moan over something like that while others write it off to bad experience. They may have previously seen people being unsuccessful in reclaiming their account.

I messaged the nixon99 account as well for an explanation but have received no reply yet. They did log on since....

The best scenario is that the victim gets their account back.
