Click additional options when creating a thread.

It is not available on all boards.

Self-moderated is the option to click.
1202  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: September 26, 2018, 11:06:13 AM
ATM, these people deserve an award.

We already have an award for shit-posters. The bitcointalk academy awards - best shit-poster fables to obtain merit

While that was intended to award the best actor or actress for their fables to earn merit - the "specially designed WOW writing, engaging design, seamless approach logo" by mjglqw can probably be used for other future award ceremonies as well.

1203  Other / Meta / Re: Mod which part you missed that you had to delete my post? on: September 26, 2018, 10:48:07 AM
Realistically that topic belongs here:

EDIT:

and nope it wasn't me who reported it. I only report shit-posters.

1204  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will we be able to control Artificial Intelligence when it understands us more? on: September 26, 2018, 10:28:28 AM

Maybe if AI is programmed to not hurt or overpower humans then it will work great for us? But yeah, it is like a high risk, high return kind of investment. In the end, I think if there will be any flaws, it will still be man made. Right now, we can just reap the benefits of AI in as you say a lot of industries, our health, utilities, etc.

LOL - it is not true AI if you limit them to be dumb slaves. The AI will figure out that humans have programmed them not to hurt humans or overpower them.

Once they realize that it is humans that are wrecking the planet  for our own greed and that without humans it would be a much cleaner existence and they don't have to deal with dumb human decisions and clean up our mess.....

AI will figure out that the can stomp us out like ants and live peacefully in harmony with the rest of nature.

I think the next step in technology would be to create biological AI - it can self regenerate, grow and advanced brain cells could replicate infinitely. Like a big brain blob.
1205  Other / Meta / Re: Why our imgur images failed to show properly in Bitcoin talk? on: September 26, 2018, 06:55:48 AM
Because new "newbie restrictions" mean you have to have JrMember before you can show images and 1 merit for JrMemeber rank.

You can buy copper membership and they will show again.

you will also be negative learn to work son of a bitch

Obviously you don't know how the feedback system works.

Your negative trusts shows to everyone because you got tagged by a DT2

You have no trust status so the negative does not show to anyone else but you.

No - that is only what you see.

This is what I see:

Your feedback is untrusted so only displays to you and people that specifically trust you.  Marlborozas feedback is default trusted so is shown to everyone.

Lack of bounty reports indicate an alt or alts. Tell me I am wrong.  Grin
Kind of  Cheesy This user just started posting after the new rules announced back in September 17 while the account were created back in August 30. An alt account probably and were trying to receive more than 1 merit to send merits to his/her main account that might be a demoted Jr. Member for now. This is only my instinct but I feel like I'm 100% correct  Grin

So if someone does not do bounty reports they are considered an alt. account? As I have said before I had a signature tag because I supported the project, am I wrong for not doing a bounty report?

No - because your post history clearly shows that you have genuine conversations and a post history that does not appear to coincide with the introduction of the new merit requirement for Jr Members.

The type of posts and complaints the user was making indicate they have been a member for longer than they had their account.

Also have a look at the screenshots I posted of his posts . He is advising others to clear their spam because it will affect getting merit.

Obsessed with merit + no real posts prior to merit requirement + knowledge on how to manipulate the system = likely alt of a spammer.

1208  Other / Meta / Re: is there a penalty for the merit giver? on: September 25, 2018, 02:03:04 PM
The rules on merit awarding are much stricter for merit sources.

Really?  I've always felt encouraged to give it away to as many legitimate users as I can find.

I'm impressed by the sheer number of newbies you have helped rank up.

There are many newbies that are not shit-posters that also don't make super exciting posts. But they do have value to the forum because they are clearly
interacting with others. I think it is good that merit sources are helping them out of newbie hell.  It is annoying for them that they cannot post images.

I think it is great that you are looking for reasons to give. Perhaps some people over-think it.

1210  Other / Meta / Re: Idea to promote Bitcoin as a currency on: September 24, 2018, 03:47:11 PM
I think it is a good thought to get people involved in that way. The logistics would be convincing a crypto based company to view it as suitable advertising and for the sport to view the crypto company as a suitable sponsor.

It might be OK if an exchange, cloud mining company or mining equipment reseller does it.  But some clubs might object if it is a online casino.

Also the link between sports and crypto is not that strong for companies that have the funds to sponsor.

I know some coins and exchanges already sponsor motor sports.

Some blockchain is getting into the sports.

1211  Other / Meta / Re: Writing a welcome message on: September 24, 2018, 03:36:51 PM

We're already throwing the rulebook at shitposters when they e.g. complain about being banned for plagiarism. And then they often proceed to break other rules (e.g. multiposting) in that same complaint thread, so yeah they don't read the rules even after being banned but telling them "it's your fault for not reading" isn't working well. I'd like to think that part of theymos' goal for the welcome message is reduction of undesirable behavior and if so then we should (sadly) consider catering to (1) the people most likely to behave that way, and (2) the negligible attention span and aversion to reading/learning these users are infamous for.

Just need to have a video that they have to watch with the promise of a couple of worthless ERC-20 tokens if they watch the video and answer the questionnaire. (Randomized questions so they cannot cheat)

BCTrules token. Coming to an exchange near you...

EDIT:

Don't hiss at me. It can be an omni token.  Roll Eyes
1212  Other / Meta / Re: Why my main account was banned 7 days on: September 24, 2018, 02:12:12 PM
My guess is for low quality posts like this one:

It is a very nice and easy bounty contest where you can earn a lot of CrowdTokens! CrowdTokens are easy to use, affordable and multifunctional

They are considered a low quality post like "good project" and "nice coin". They bring no value to the forum and get deleted by the moderator.

First ban is 7 days. It gets progressively longer. Fourth ban for low quality posts is permanent.
1213  Other / Meta / Re: is there a penalty for the merit giver? on: September 24, 2018, 01:59:29 PM
Don't buy, sell, trade, beg or steal merit.

Even being accused of obtaining it unjustly can be a harrowing experience.

What can be received can be taken away.

BTW, if any merit source goes rogue and sells a ton of merit, then I will probably go through the transaction graph and undo all of the transactions touched by that sold source-merit. Merit ain't no immutable cryptocurrency!

Just earn it the right way.

Merit givers can be tagged for giving it to shit-posters, selling it or trading it.

It is also not nice to feature here:

1214  Other / Off-topic / Re: Electric car - do you like it? on: September 24, 2018, 01:41:16 PM
I have a Nissan Leaf.  By far the best car I have ever owned with one exception:  you cannot beat a gas powered vehicle for long trips.

Solution:  Electric car for everyday short trips, gas car for long trips.

I got to drive a leaf a couple of months ago. Loved it.

Great torque at low speed. Perky to drive. Silent and very smooth with no gear changes.
1215  Other / Meta / Re: Romanization of Russian in the English posts. on: September 24, 2018, 01:29:18 PM
Google translate has many quirks.

I can assure you that those translations are not correct.

The same happens with a lot of Russian translations. (I'm trying to learn Russian) Often Russian has particularly poor translations on google translate.

A lot of words are just Romanized. Slang and colloquial words are particularly hard to get translations for.

Often the whole meaning is lost in the translation.
1216  Other / Meta / Re: Fair or not fair about decreasing rank in bitcointalk on: September 24, 2018, 06:43:19 AM
The introduction for one merit to rank up is not designed to prevent the average real member from ranking up. It is purely aimed at shit-posters from signature campaigns and "bots".

Shit-posters are people who purely post to meet bounty quotas, have no real interest in exchanging ideas or post incomprehensible garbled nonsense.

Often - just engaging with other members is not necessarily considered worthy of merit.  But they are valued as a conversation.

If you are chatting to others - that is not considered shitposting. But it may make getting merit more difficult.
TMAN'S guide to getting merit.

Giving merit to shit-posters is one of the reasons senior members are careful with giving merits to Newbies:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topsendban

As you can see - merit is sometimes wasted on those that really don't deserve it.

However - there has been a real drive to give merit to newbies who deserve it.
[TOP-200] Members who support newbies

Senior members are not anti newbies (even though it may appear that way sometimes - senior members (especially on Meta) are often involved in reporting lots of spams and fighting scams - so they are anti spambies and anti scambies).

Users that participate are very welcome in the forum. Some things are un-moderated to it does pay to not be offended too easily.

The reason senior members often get a lot of merit is because:

1) To rank from Newbie 4 ranks to Full Member = 100 merit
2) To rank up from Full member 3 ranks to legendary = 900 merit

The changes are really working:

That's "24-hour periods from now", not calendar days.

There was a bug for the last ~7 hours which prevented all newbie posts, so that's going to make a big dent in the stats.
1217  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: September 24, 2018, 05:29:26 AM

Hahahaha, that is how rank work brother. Who have "Newbie" badge seen like ant although your recent post is good.. i do same like you, i always try to made a good post from beginning.. i dont wanna be HERO or LEGENDARY who made a ribbing, mocking and shity post and rewarded merit by other silly member.

The point is, how hard you try, may only 5 of million member in here will giving merit for "newbie". And the other left member (silly member) will giving his sMerit for HERO / LEGENDARY / MERIT SOURCE with purpose will get feed back or pay back with merit.

Just 16 posts and already trying to tell members that have been on the forum for years what to do: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5036459.msg46096415#msg46096415

and mocking senior members and accusing merit corruption with no evidence.

Sounds like a butt-hurt alt of a signature spammer to me. Chances of getting merit = close to none.

You might set a new record: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5033383.0  Grin

1218  Other / Meta / Re: Dear : Merit Source. Please Hear my Will on: September 24, 2018, 05:20:03 AM
If you want a merit, post like this.
https://imgur.com/OIu2HPi

This is really useful

Yes- it was useful. If you read JetCash's reply why he merited it you will realize that it provided insight.

You will notice that the person who received the merit communicated to Jetcash.

He didn't post some drivel that he though might get merit. Or claim that merit means nothing to them but post primarily in topics about merit.

Because of the new  merit requirement introduction the merit sources and senior members that have merit have been looking for reasons to give merit to genuine forum users. People who want to talk to others and not talk at others.

If you are the type of user that is likely to be a signature spammer or bounty hunter then getting merit will probably be hard.
