In that case, I'll have to list my gender as "indeterminate" since I've never had a karyotype and have no evidence that I am male aside from having a penis and the ability to grow hair everywhere on my body except the top of my head, and there's at least half a dozen reasons why I might have those traits without having a Y chromosome.

Or XY suspect.  Grin
902  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Gender identity, bigotry and being categorized. on: November 29, 2018, 07:24:18 AM
The problem with using terms like "male" and "female" is that it leaves people own to their own interpretation of what those terms mean.  I think it should be changed to something less able to be subjective.  Genders should be relabeled to be "XX" or "XY" which I think would be less liable to idiocy.

Hermaphrodites may have both cells with 46 XY chromosomes and cells with 46 XX chromosomes.

Some males with 47,XYY syndrome have an extra Y chromosome in only some of their cells.

XXXY syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by a sex chromosome aneuploidy, where males have two extra X chromosomes.

About 1 in 20,000 men have no Y chromosome, instead having 2 Xs.

The equivalent situation - females who have XY instead of XX chromosomes - can occur for a variety of reasons and overall is similar in frequency.

Turner syndrome is also called 45,X or XO syndrome and only affects females.  Instead of having the usual two copies of the X. chromosome, they have only one copy.

903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: EXRATES.ME is a scam Exchange on: November 29, 2018, 07:17:56 AM
Just today trade volume is around 30K Bitcoin in EXRATES.ME how it can be scam?
There are no authentic source regarding SCAM because still there are top ranking coin traded and big volume.

How do you know that that volume is real.

On their website and in coinmarketcap they show that they have sold 393 BTC worth of DTRC in 24 hours.

It would mean that they sold the entire coin supply 22x in 24 hours. There is only 18 BTC of DTRC in existence.

They have been caught out falsifying the amounts for a number of coins now.

So when you are trading on there with false volumes they are giving the impression that they are making a lot more sales than they really are.

904  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Attack on AurumCoin from cryptopia stolen more than $ 500 000 on: November 29, 2018, 01:31:31 AM
Yes - Aurumcoin was attacked but the article is not correct.

1) Cryptopia published the 51% attack before Aurumcoin disclosed it. First they denied it, then they blamed Cryptopia, now they say they don't blame Cryptopia. (See their archived sites in the quoted part below).

2) The exploit took place entirely on the Aurumcoin blockchain. Balances are stored on the blockchain. There is no evidence that at any stage the Cryptopia private keys or servers compromised. (Such transactions would be visible on the blockchain). If there are funds missing then the blockchain balance has been altered by a coin network based exploit (chain re-org). This can easily be shown by consecutively mined blocks by the same address and the number of orphaned blocks. Nodes will also have records of the transactions that took place on the orphaned blocks.

3) Media articles have been instigated by Aurumcoin while Cryptopia attempted to resolve it with their coin developers.

4) If the amounts are correct (15K coins) - they were trading below $4 at the time that Aurumcoin was 51% attacked.

5) It is not known if the attack affected other exchanges and whether they have coins in their exchange wallets.

6) Aurumcoin is unable to secure their coin network against further attacks and is not backed by any gold - despite claims in media articles.

Disclosure / disclaimer:  I am not Cryptopia staff. I am a volunteer moderator for their trollbox and discord channel and user of their services. Cryptopia does not have staff that answer questions on Bitcointalk as it is not recognized as an official communications channel. I am not authorised to provide any statements on behalf of Cryptopia. This is personal opinion only. The actions of the Aurumcoin developers caused financial losses to me.

It has already been covered extensively in other threads:

Lie #1
AurumCoin – The first distributed open source cryptocurrency to be backed by gold

Proof it is a lie:

Aurumcoin has NO GOLD.

It has no gold so it is not the first.
It cannot become the first because there are other crypto currencies already backed by gold.

Lie #2
Cryptopia got hacked

https://archive.fo/iNLQa
Proof it is a lie:
Aurumcoin published on 10 November that “Cryptopia got hacked”.
This is untrue. None of the exploits used in the 51% attack touched the Cryptopia servers.

Aurumcoin got 51% attacked. In this attack a single attacker took over the blockchain and “overruled” the previously mined blocks by the honest miners and replaced it with “privately mined blocks that were mined in secret by the attacker”. This reversed transactions that had been previously confirmed by the Aurumcoin network. The exploit occurred entirly on the Aurumcoin network.

Balance of funds are held on the distributed ledger (Blockchain). A hardware wallet only holds the public and private keys. The private keys remain secure.
This means that if funds are reversed they are removed from the distributed ledger (Aurumcoin blockchain) and become no longer available.
None of this is under the control of the wallet owner. This process occurs entirely on the Aurumcoin network.

Lie #3
Cryptopia do not admit a 51% attack

Proof it is a lie:

9 November Cryptopia publishes the 51% attack. Prior to this Cryptopia sent a report on the 51% attack to the Aurumcoin developers.

905  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: November 28, 2018, 01:55:48 PM
Cryptopia has generally NEVER supported any forks and disclose this.
In order to take part in a fork or swap you need to withdraw funds before they put the wallet into maintenance.
Leaving it to the last day is never a wise move. Allow more than 48 hour prior to a fork. (Network congestion and wallet congestion being potential issues + it also doesn't leave time to fix any technical issues). Making a support ticket just hours before the fork is happening when the problem is due to a technical issue is unlikely to get it resolved in time. A transaction cannot be processed when the wallet is in maintenance. The issue cannot be resolved until the wallet is out of maintenance.

https://support.cryptopia.co.nz/csm?id=kb_article&sys_id=bcee7178db8e1b4032a664a14a961919

As the answer to the support ticket that you posted shows - they cannot resolve the issue  (i.e. rebroadcast the transaction) until the wallet is out of maintenance.

Bitcoin Cash wallet is in maintenance. This can be viewed on the coininfo page.
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/CoinInfo/?coin=BCH

I do not expect them to take it out of maintenance soon since the BCH network does not yet have replay protection and there are inherent risks involved.

Disclosure: Cryptopia does not monitor bitcointalk. As a volunteer chat moderator I am not Cryptopia staff and am not authorized to make statements on their behalf.

I don't care who your Asif is. If he is a crook, then I am glad that the team kicked him out of the project.

Your words about the project are too much like stupid spam. Are you here to blacken the project? Maybe you can prove to us the whole deception of other team members?

If all you can do is another story about Asif, you are a mediocre who deliberately spammed this topic.

I saw how the team agreed with your words and got rid of the fraudster. I have no reason to doubt innovaminex.

The people who have posted this actually lost a lot to Asifs scams.

Both in terms of $ as well as reputation by their previous association.

Numerous developers had staked their reputation on a project that was destroyed by fraudulent behavior and had to deal with the angry investors when the coins collapsed.

Innovaminex obviously didn't vet their team as they claimed.

Also their message claimed that they "disassociated from each other" and "no longer appears in their communications channel as a member of the InnovaMinex team". This means something different from "having left".

To me that means that they have seized to be publicly associated and that he probably is still in their communications channel - just not listed as a member of their team.

Why would they state something in such an indirect way ?

Dear community! 🙌

🔺 Important information based on an internal investigation of the situation reported by the Bitcointalk community harms Dr. Baloch Asif.

The InnovaMinex team and Dr. Baloch Asif agreed to dissociate each other for the benefit of both parties. For this reason Dr. Baloch Asif no longer appears in our communication channels as a member of the InnovaMinex team.

Sincerely,
InnovaMinex team

BIP 21 supports URI and BIP 70-72 supports attaching messages to transactions.

That is not what they do. They standardize the communication of payment information between a wallet and a merchant or payment processor.

(they can send a small amount of bitcoin with a message if they want to get in contact)

So they can use that for initial communication.

There are multiple ways to send a message:

All of that said, spot price is just what a paper certificate on the stock market says the metals are worth. You don't find any metal at spot price (under normal situations)

China is changing that, and they have created an exchange that deals with physical gold. This seems to be another attack on the international bankers. Some people consider that 100 times the amount of gold in existence has been sold through the "virtual" exchanges, and this is why gold is undervalued at the moment. Silver is even more undervalued in my opinion. China has accumulated a massive store of gold, and it is rumoured to be about to announce a gold backed currency.

Unless you have untraceable gold hidden in some secure location that you control it has no means of being a hedge against economic collapse.

There are many fraudulent scams that use "gold" in their name and that purport to have "gold backing".

Unless you have physical gold in your hand - you do not have gold. Just the illusion of gold.

If you pay for gold but do not have the gold then you just got separated from your cash fro a promise of gold. (A promise of gold is not the same as having gold).

Silver price was heavily manipulated by the Hunt Brothers in the 1980's and a Govenrnment bailout prevented the collapse of wall street bankers and mayhem on the silver market.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Thursday

China as a country is hoarding gold as a hedge and value store. China traditionally also has a obsession with gold.
I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable with a gold backed Chinese currency. It would give the Chinese government my money in a "promise of gold" on a piece of paper. They would have my money and my gold.  Shocked

Quote
Executive Order 6102 required all persons to deliver on or before May 1, 1933, all but a small amount of gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates owned by them to the Federal Reserve, in exchange for $20.67 (consumer price index, adjusted value of $391 today[4]) per troy ounce. Under the Trading with the Enemy Act of 1917, as amended by the recently passed Emergency Banking Act of March 9, 1933, violation of the order was punishable by fine up to $10,000 (equivalent to $189,049 today[4]) or up to ten years in prison, or both.

Personally I believe non perishable food is the "gold standard" if there is economic collapse. You cannot survive eating gold in a disaster but there will be people wanting to trade food for gold in a disaster.

https://www.moneymetals.com/precious-metals-charts/platinum-price

The US dollar, stock prices and Crypto investments were surging. It prompted a flight from speculative investments. Chinese interest in Gold has been keeping that price high as there has been more put into Bullion and investment by the Chinese in US Government bonds and US currency has declined.
909  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: November 28, 2018, 10:52:44 AM

This shitposter won't let punctuation get in the way of the sheer brilliance of this investment advice:

You have to do the right thing if you want to sell bitcoin and you won't get what you don't want and you want to buy or buy bitcoin you will definitely buy at a low price and you sell at a high price but if you have found the price is right for you and you don't hesitate or regret the same price as bitcoin because we don't know the price of bitcoin is up and down, the best is the right conclusion to sell your bitcoin by getting profit

You have to draw very precise conclusions if you want to sell your altcoin so you don't get the losses you don't want and in my opinion if you want to sell or buy altcoin then surely you will buy at a low price and you sell at a high price but if you think you have got a price that is suitable for you to sell and you do not hesitate or regret the prices that sometimes go up and down altcoin because we all do not know the price of altcoin ups and downs, the most important is the right conclusion to sell your altcoin by getting profit

I see there were two solid attempts at premature punctuation.  Grin When reading it out loud - it is where you stop to take a breath.

EDIT:

Just found this one:

Bitcointalk already have an existing coin which is the bitcoin it self, if you have not taken the time to read the brain behind bitcointalk forum well according to the information the forum was created by Santoshi Nakamoto him self and about the same time or period with the creation of bitcoin. Asking bitcointalk to created another coin of it own has no relevance instead we as a community will keep developing on the existing foundation which is bitcoin.

So close to Christmas...

913  Other / Serious discussion / Re: World laughing at the US on: November 27, 2018, 10:57:47 PM

There's not really that great of presdence for criminal charges (or civil charges) brought against a sitting president. Normally, criminal charges are processed through Congress.

However, Congress is stacked with the same party as Trump... they're refusing to remove their own man.

Also, the Supreme Court is being stacked. A couple decades ago, I'm pretty sure the SCOTUS would rule that the president of the United States can stand before a trial. If the GOP (and Trump) gets their way, Trump will have nearly unlimited authority.

It doesn't help that Trump's a pathological liar. For example, from one of his speeches recently, they broke out everything he said.

The President can only be impeached. The president is immune from standard criminal prosecution. He could be charged for wrongdoing after leaving office, but he would have to be impeached and removed, or resign.  If Trump committed any federal crimes, then only Congress can address that wrongdoing by impeaching him.

It appears from history that only blowjobs and undeniable embarrassing evidence results in modern day impeachment.

Johnson was impeached but acquitted.  Nixon was impeached but resigned. Clinton was impeached but acquitted.

The problem with impeachment is that it carries a heavy political repercussion. Even the Democrats (if in majority) will try to avoid it because it is only successful if two thirds of congress vote to impeach. This would require Republicans to vote for impeachment - something unlikely to happen unless there is overwhelming evidence and at least three people recorded it happening. Even then there will be conspiracy theories.

Stacking the Supreme court has been done by both the Republicans and the Democrats. Constitutional interpretation is very important when determining whether laws are valid or not. The Supreme court has extreme powers by declaring something unconstitutional they can effectively nullify a law passed by congress.

Trump has gotten his way all his life using whatever means he could. Teflon Trump - scandals don't stick.

One of the best things someone once said to me is "Shit happens in Crypto - get over it".

Bitcoin and altcoins even more so are like a bipolar relationship. You can be drawn into the manic and depressive episodes or you can try to understand it, deal with it and not let it negatively affect you.

https://99bitcoins.com/price-chart-history/

Every dip looks scary. If we knew what would happen for certain then there would be no speculation involved.

I'm here to be part of the movement. Not just the bitcoin movement but Crypto as a whole.

I pick my coins based on ethics, purpose, activity and viability.

This way the price might disappoint but the projects are worthwhile supporting. Interestingly some of the Cryptos I held onto during the manic bitcoin price rise did terrible during the price rise but are now slowly gaining in value.
915  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: What do yo do if you find a private key online with money inside? on: November 27, 2018, 08:46:12 PM

"Safeguard" is just another way to say "I might as well take them because someone else is going to steal them anyway." However you want to justify it, it is stealing. If someone is going to steal the coins, it would be better for you if it were not you.

Tell me, how are you going to contact the person that owns the address? There is no Bitcoin "messaging system". I don't know where you got that idea. The odds of you returning the coins that you are "safeguarding" is 0, so it is just stealing.

BIP 21 supports URI and BIP 70-72 supports attaching messages to transactions.
Which wallets have support for BIP 70 - 72 for merchant message transactions?
https://bitpay.com/docs/wallets

The Bitcoin network is a secure messaging system that processes value-transfer messages called transactions.

If you move it to a safe address, notify relevant authorities and never spend it then it is not stealing.

If you "donate it" or spend it then it is stealing.
916  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Gender identity, bigotry and being categorized. on: November 27, 2018, 08:21:28 PM
On your point about categorizations not being important I have to disagree, though. I work in healthcare, and categories such as age, sex and race all change what diseases you are at risk of. Some diseases are X-linked recessive - if you don't tell me you were born as a gender different to the one you are now, your diagnosis is going to be near-impossible. Many diseases are more common or even exclusive to a certain race, ethnicity or group of people - Ashkenazi Jews are the most commonly used example here. There is evidence emerging that different antibiotics work better in some ethnicities more than others. Even something as common and widespread as high blood pressure has different treatment protocols depending on your age and race.

I agree with the points that you have made. When it comes to medical classification there is definitely a good use case for categorization.
It could lead to a rapid diagnosis.

However it also has it downsides. Sometimes preconceived ideas or bias can blind. It would be had to judge how much bias has resulted in initially looking for the wrong diagnosis. (i.e. testing for things that are not the cause).

Supporting something for the benefit of the majority can also cause dire consequences for a minority group.

A large portion of the population is Anemic. For this reason a lot of product have been fortified with vitamin C. (To increase iron absorption)
Close to 25% of the population is Anemic with the majority being women.

Hemochromatosis is a (sometimes complex to diagnose) hereditary condition that is frequently not detected until later in life. The added vitamin C to products amplifies the potential serious consequences of the condition (especially if undiagnosed and untreated). About 0.4% of the population is affected by Hemochromatosis with the majority being men.

I cannot go into much detail but a person I represented at a hearing recently was classified based on pre-existing condition not covered by insurance. The conditions were not related to the actual claim. The insurance appointed medical expert was completely blinded by the pre-existing conditions that she did not take the numerous opinions by the treating physicians into account. The hearing did not go well for the insurance but the trauma of the bias and the personal information that had to be disclosed was embarrassing and demeaning.

Statistics can often be deceiving and provide a false impression. For instance - speed kills. Excessive speed has been the cause of accidents.
Question: How is excessive speed assessed ? Obviously when an accident occurs the speed is not suitable for the conditions and I have never heard of two stationary objects hitting each other.

Medical ethics are very complex. Often demographics are used to justify particular screening but it might exclude other demographics that as seen as low risk. Usually to save on screening costs. There are not infinite funds to spend on medical care but in other areas excessive amounts are being spend on keeping humans alive that either have a very low quality of life, prolonging suffering or extremely low chances of survival.
917  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: New Goldman Sachs stable coin. Tether doomed? on: November 27, 2018, 04:48:52 AM
Cryptopia had a stable coin pegged to the NZ$ until their bank gave notice that they were going to shut their account.

It worked well as a two way system. You could deposit from anywhere in the world and withdraw if you held a NZ bank account (for KYC purposes).

Recently it was in the news that they are relaunching it.
https://coingape.com/stablecoin-new-zealand-plans-relaunch-new-zealand-dollar-token-nzdt/

Ideally a forward thinking Government will launch a digital stable coin. But the technology still carries too many risks for Governments to get involved.

https://www.coindesk.com/tether-claims-30-million-stable-token-stolen-attacker

IF a Government issued coin got hacked or exploited it would cause potentially very serious repercussions to their financial systems.

While companies can limit their liability and their creditors often carry most of the risk and losses. Bankruptcy for a country carries severe consequences for their citizens.

918  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: What do yo do if you find a private key online with money inside? on: November 27, 2018, 04:21:35 AM
If you cannot ensure that the rightful owner retains ownership, then the best choice is to do nothing. If you do anything, you are potentially harming someone, and if you do nothing you lose nothing, so the best outcome comes from doing nothing. If you take the coins (or "safeguard" them) you are stealing them since you don't know that they were lost or abandoned.

If you find the private key online like the question stated then if you do nothing -
With the key being online it will only be a matter of time when someone will either:

a) Steal it
b) Safeguard them

So doing nothing is just leaving the decision for someone else.

If you move them to another wallet for safe keeping then at least they don't get stolen and the owner has the chance to recover them.

Bitcoin is a messaging system (they can send a small amount of bitcoin with a message if they want to get in contact)  and there would be various ways of proving ownership.

Personally I wouldn't report a post like this but you also don't know what other posts were deleted by the moderator from that thead. Moderators only have a short amount of time to decide whether something amounts to spam and the post is borderline. It could be that they deleted a whole lot of posts from the thread to prevent an interesting topic into turning into a signature spam mega-thread.

Next time put a bit more effort into your posts and they are unlikely to get deleted.
