Whoa where did gox get 55K volume? I thought it was dying. Do bots just like collectively losing fees?
Just because some idiots run around screaming about it all the time doesn't mean it is dead. You're right. It actually lead the rally on the last leg up. However, it really amazes me why so many people still use it. Its almost like psychotic nostalgia. Its obviously a high risk exchange with even higher prices. I guess its more volatile though, so better still for daytraders. Psychotic nostalgia. Can I get a technical indicator for that?

Has anybody received a refund lately? I requested a refund several weeks ago for 48 Batch 3 chips and have yet to receive it.
The refund ship has sailed. If you haven't received a refund yet, you most likely won't. The cutoff date was 9/16. Best thing to do is request your chips to be shipped and sell them at a discount. A recent auction averaged about .015/chip, but with today's huge difficulty spike you'll be lucky to get that.

I have a huge amount of respect for the work Chris put into this project, so naturally his safety and continued contribution to the DIY community is worth more than the 8 btc he owes me. That said, it's a lot of money and I'd like to see at least a partial refund should he ever return.

If you don't pay your parking tickets here in Chicago they simply boot your car if you have two or three or more outstanding after a certain period of time. There is a boot-mobile that constantly roves the city, scanning license plates, looking for cars to boot.
Chicago is a city of rackets. One of my favorites is "street cleaning" where neighborhood streets, full of parked cars, are regularly sectioned off to be cleaned. "Cleaning" is simply one of those little trucks that sweeps curbs with it's noisy spinning brush. Most of the time it's not needed. Naturally, they post bright orange signs telling residents when they cannot be parked there... three days before. Out of town? New to the city? Hung over and forgot to move your car where you pay $100 a year to park in the first place? $50 ticket for you. The schedule is available online if you're brave enough to navigate Chicago's system of terrible websites. Planning your life around this nonsense is crucial to avoid tickets, and the game of parking musical chairs that ensues in most neighborhoods would be hilarious if it wasn't so frustrating.
Naturally, there are always few dozen cars in my neighborhood that forget. And "street cleaning" happens once every 2-3 months. Ridiculous.

Few people can get it right now because their gov-owned website is horrendous and won't let most people sign up for it (but this shouldn't be surprising.) Those who have gotten through have realized that it is generally both more expensive (!) and covers less (!) than what their employers already offer; in other words, it's a waste of time and money. Three cheers for the state.
Apparently the site (healthcare.gov) cost over $500 million to create by a company named CGI Federal. And it still sucks. Also insurance companies lobbied for and helped write this law. Now why would insurance companies want a law that mandated *everyone* in the US to buy health insurance?? It's a mystery!!! :-/

I have attempted to contact him several times via email but no reply.
Ideally one person who has his phone number should try and get hold of him to find out what is up. I hope he is ok.
Agreed. He owes me a refund but I'm honestly more worried about his safety.

If I had 700 chips in hand think I would try Ebay. Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. Don't really want to deal with the hassle of Paypal though. So, when did you submit your request? Curious to see when this cut off was... I submitted the form on 9/17. Is it confirmed that Bkk is gone for good, took the money, and left the community ? I hope not, but it's starting to look that way. It doesn't make any sense to put that much work into a project then suddenly vanish.

Does anyone have direct contact with Steamboat...as in a phone number or address? Seems like someone stopped by to take pictures a while back. Could we get that same person to pop back by there and ask him for an official update? I never received an e-mail about refunds, the e-mail I sent through the website was never replied to, and I don't think there has been any communication in a few weeks now. To top all of that off the forum was down for close to a week and we still haven't heard anything back from him.
Chad
I was in contact with Zeke (helping Steamboat verify addresses for shipments) who answers at least one of two email addresses I've received updates from. He forwarded my second refund request to Steamboat, who denied me again. Apparently my first request came in a day late and there's simply not enough refund $$$ to go around. It's disappointing, too, because I had nearly 700 chips from batch one and supplies ordered from Chris (Bkkcoins, developer of the K16), who disappeared with his customers' money and left the USB firmware unfinished, as well as the I2C bus inoperable. Steamboat said they're quickly trying to finish the firmware (so the damn things work with an acceptable error rate) which probably accounts for the lack of updates. He also said that finishing the I2C bus, which is required to chain multiple K16s together, is not a priority. So those with many K16s will need more USB cables and hubs. Chris left a lot of work to do when he disappeared, apparently. Today I got a tracking email from a Steve Manos (I'm assuming that's Steamboat) notifying me that my chips have been shipped. If anyone's interested I'll be selling these at a deep discount as I have bills to pay. Thank god this saga is finally coming to a close.... a very bittersweet one at that. Hope you all get your K16s sooner rather than later.

At least we know something is happening because people are still getting refunds. So it's not like there's zero info.
That would be nice but it seems refunds have stopped at the 16th of September Might want to read back a few pages.
