RSI can stay overbought/oversold for a long time in strong bull/bear markets.

If yore going to be calling bubble tops with it use a long time period, like 3d or weekly.

Err Bitstamp is not insolvent.

It's a Memorial Day in the US, major holiday.

Also, what's a roomer?

1. Altcoins have not really gained relative to BTC in the last months. They still account for only 9% of the total market cap. If this number rises to more than 20%, I would start to consider them. Otherwise no need.

I've played the altcoin market recently. What you basically do is guess which coin is going to get pumped next--either by analyzing the micro-accumulation and price suppression by whales, or by having insider information, or by jumping onboard early during the pump. Then you wait, sometimes weeks, watching the markets like a hawk, hoping you were right and the coin doesn't go to zero. Then you exit once the pump begins, hopefully before the whales decide to.

It's a pump & dump game, no more, no less. Inexperienced traders will get eaten alive.
924  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 23, 2014, 05:48:02 PM
After numerous unanswered emails and PMs, I have little confidence that Chris (Bkkcoins) is going to issue the remaining refunds. I do not believe he set out to steal anyone's money, but that is where we are now.

To those new to the thread, Chris is a Canadian expat living in Thailand, and was the creator of the Klondike K16 design. He sold boards and parts sourced from Thailand, using the site www.klondikedesign.com. Unfortunately the project fell down when Yifu Guo was late in delivering the ASIC first-gen chips. Yifu eventually issued refunds and managed to salvage what little reputation he had left. Regardless, this left many manufacturers using Chris' design in an unfortunate position.

Chris' site, www.klondikedesign.com has been up until early this year, and even took this poor guy's money long after the project had been abandoned.

On 11/20, Chris claimed to be involved in a motorcycle accident, seen here. After his recovery, he was active in the community despite his customers' pleas, emails and private messages to issue refunds. His last post can be seen here, showing a mental capacity that would not prohibit him from this task.

I'd like to start gathering information about who was granted refunds and who is still owed refunds. Personally, he owes me over 8BTC.

If you bought items from www.klondikedesign.com and were refunded (or not) by Chris, please post here.

The best traders probably don't post here for good reason.

Here's my trading manual, for what it's worth:

Don't trust anyone, not anyone on this forum and especially not emotional traders.

Watch the market for at least 6 months before you put any money on the table.

During those 6 months learn basic TA: trend following, support/resistance, reversal patterns. This is like learning scales when you took piano lessons as a kid. They are not that interesting or fun, but you are laying the foundation.

When trading, no outside influences or distractions. No forums, trollboxes, phones, television, etc. The one possible exception is news feeds. This is non-negotiable.

Don't get greedy when the market goes up. Ignore fear on the way down.

No, it is NOT different this time.

That's it. Easy right? Not at all. Good luck!

One of the things that has been concerning me for some time is the amount of funds the foundation pays staff despite being "operated by volunteers". Maybe it is just my country that has volunteers pegged wrong, as folk that do stuff for zero pay. However the more folk you pay, the less volunteers we have from the way I see it.

Surly those funds are best spent on publicity etc.

I am getting the feeling chunky and the WCF are a scam and possibly not buying back any WC from the exchanges. Maybe giving out some of the coins people donate to the WCF whilst keeping the profitable coins they are possibly mining in secret using our hashing power. Yes I may seem paranoid however for me it seems to be one of the few scenarios that actually makes sense and explains the continued poor choices of coin to mine and the seeming lack of buy support that should be marginally apparent despite the low hash rate at the pool.

Am I the only one left feeling this way?

Yes, apparently. I've received payouts from Chunky just about daily.

If anyone is getting paid anything, it's very little. I've devoted many hours to help promote this coin for no pay.

WC is not a scam. WCF is not a scam. Please don't spread false information unless you have verifiable proof.
927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (WC) | WhiteCoin | ☯ www.whitecoinfoundation.org ☯whitecoin.info ☯ on: May 21, 2014, 05:00:27 PM
Just so people don't think I'm blowing smoke up everyones rear while sitting idle I have been working on a new image for WC. Here is an example of what I can see Whitecoin becoming, its everything Blackcoin failed to be. We don't need cute/retro posters that confuse everyone, we need a single focused image... that image needs to be money/wealth. We want to be the coin that people buy and hold and live of the POS. Sure that might not be the case now but its a image that will attract new investors. Wealth is universally wanted by everyone, its very easy to sell.

I'm working on a new media packet with the potential rebrand but we need a new logo first.

Very nice on this. Good to have you aboard.

To the newcomers: Whitecoin is unique in its talent working behind the scenes. We are not simply one (or a few) guys releasing updates. It's a coordinated effort by over a dozen people. We're trying to get away from the pump/dump mentality to build something with a great foundation. Our goal is to be the premiere proof-of-stake coin.

Marketing is about getting the message out to the right audience at the right time. Right now the message is that WC is not dead; in fact the opposite is true. The new dev team is amazing and we are building a community based on honesty and transparency, and of course, delicious stake Cool

I've mentioned this before but Mrs. Bassclef works at a large marketing firm. She just rolled out a big campaign for a huge client, the USPS (that's the US Postal Service for you non Americans) releasing their Barnum & Bailey and Jimi Hendrix special edition stamps. She's a pretty big deal in the marketing world. I'm an opera singer and voiceover artist, so I have lived in the PR world my entire career. We have amazing writers and artists like LadyWhiteCoin and birddog who can rock Photoshop like nobody's business. Yes, I'm pumping our PR and creative team, because, yeah, we're that good Grin

So yes, the coin is alive and well despite investor confidence. My personal opinion is that a whale is buying in and suppressing the price while micro-buying, because that is how whales buy in. They see the potential and want a piece. As we build up Whitecoin's reputation, targeted marketing strategies will be put into place to take this coin up up and away!
928  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why trend reversal? -> basic technical analysis! trend lines is all you need :) on: May 20, 2014, 07:55:28 PM
TA is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Kinda funny to see that yesterday very few wanted to buy around 440-450, but now people are fighting over almost $500 coins.  Grin

TA is mass psychology. When grouped together, humans move in somewhat predictable patterns. TA applies mathematical formulas to this. It doesn't guarantee anything, but it is certainly helpful if you know how to use it.

A little friendly competition between Whitecoin & Blackcoin. Maybe a little bonding... maybe a little bashing..  Grin

Here's your chance to duke it out!

Game should start in about 2 hours. Get into IRC #blackvswhite !

Great idea! Too bad I missed it. TF2 is a riot to play and I do believe it's free. Let's see if we can't schedule another match!
930  Economy / Speculation / Re: Here we go on: May 17, 2014, 07:31:06 PM
That chart is a Logarithmic one, while most traders use linear Charts. I'm not saying  Logarithmic charters are not legitimate, just saying that most traders don't care for them.

Anyway, under its own terms, a breach of the 440 would leave bitcoin on a very fragil situation.

Remember also that to breach again the 1156 (bitstamp), it would be necessary all the money that went sideways since that value. And to go above, it would be necessary a massive influx of money: and, this time, it couldn't be chinese.

I use log charts. Of course they are useful as bitcoin follows a logarithmic adoption curve; it's silly to say that traders don't like them.

My take on all this bull vs bear nonsense is that I don't see why we couldn't have another exponential adoption sometime this summer. The fact is we see repeating "bubble" patterns because of Bitcoin's limited supply combined with human psychology. You can find miniature versions of these in the altcoin markets. Why not? Infrastructure/business continues to be built and adoption is increasing. Wall Street may start getting their feet wet. Turns out they are pretty risk-averse and love regulation, but this technology is just too interesting and lucrative to resist. The investment banking guys I've talked to are interested (very much so) but don't understand how it works and the implications of its digital ownership protocol. That will change with time.

So China might ban it again. So what? We lose $50 in value. It's largely been priced in anyway.

The way I see it, the internet gave us decentralized information exchange. Now in Bitcoin we have a technology that is decentralized digital ownership and property transfer. Sure governments don't like it... big deal... they can get on board or we'll simply wait for the current luddite leaders to die in 20 years. Blockchains will still exist and will evolve and mature faster than centralized leviathan institutions can keep up.

This is a question for anyone on the WC team.

I'm interested in printing WC t-shirts and selling them for WC ... to give people who are interested in spending their WC a practical reason to do so (because if there were WC t-shirts available, I'd probably spend my WC on one ... because I'd wear it).

I do not know who to approach about this for permission to do so. Thus, I am starting here. I figure there would be some sort of profit sharing between the WC Foundation and me, if this idea is given a "go." (I'm not really shooting for the moon with this idea ... more of a boutique idea targeting those dedicated to the community, like myself, and others on this thread.)

Any direct replies can be sent here: marcxstar@gmail.com

That would be awesome! We are an open-source community, so go for it! I have a bunch of new Whitecoin logos I can share with you if you like.

That would be amazing eddinova. We have quite the art department here coming up with creative ways to promote WC, so feel free to use any of our designs as well as any official logos.

You can usually get a hold of us over at webchat.freenode.net, channel #whitecoinfoundation  Cool

Hey Everyone, I've just posted a copy of this statement to my blog as well so people can point to it if these questions come up again:

http://mogonzo.blogspot.ca/2014/05/a-statement-regarding-my-position-as.html

A statement regarding my position as Project Coordinator for WhiteCoin

Hello WhiteCoiners,

Since the initial crisis that brought us to where we are today, there have been many questions regarding the structure of the WhiteCoin Foundation transition team and my specific role in it. A little over two weeks ago, I was the head of PR for ChunkyPools and  WhiteCoin. Now I find myself at the head of one of the most talked about organizations in crypto.

So how did all this start?

When WhiteCoin launched just over a month ago, I was approached by the original project manager to talk about creating a multipool for WhiteCoin. Mculp and I at ChunkyPools had been working on this concept for some time, and so it seemed a natural alliance for us. The original WhiteCoin team needed help with Public Relations, and we were looking for a headline coin to launch our new multipool code with.

But then we had some twists in the road

Within 24 hours of being named publicly as the head of PR for WhiteCoin, I received the first reports we’re all aware of now.  Contact with the original devs had been lost, and I had reports that an attack was imminent. The rest is history, and this lead to a series of events that saw the crypto community rally around WhiteCoin in an unprecedented show of support.

Many are wondering what I personally have to gain from my involvement in WhiteCoin. And on a financial level it centers completely around my relationship with ChunkyPools, there can be no doubt. I receive 25% of Chunky’s profits. From my own mining and working with Chunky, my personal stake in WhiteCoin now amounts to approximately 65K WhiteCoin.

So why am I here?

Because I believe in the power of online communities. I have seen them accomplish great things first hand time and time again, just like with WhiteCoin. I can tell you that I have been so impressed by this community I would continue to volunteer and do this job for the challenge and fun alone. Working with this community has been a singular pleasure. I know many of you have concerns that as coordinator, it’s a conflict of interest for me to have an involvement with Chunky. This is a valid concern. But I ask you to consider this question:

What more reliable motivation in crypto can there be than profit? There is no premine for me to sell off and run. Beyond my own personal enjoyment of this job, being paid out by one of our multipools I think gives me a solid foundation of motivation.

As the coordinator, I also know that WhiteCoin needs more than one multipool to be healthy. This is why I offer you all a promise right now: I will actively encourage the creation of new multipools, and work with the foundation to see they are promoted and supported.

But most importantly, I promise to not stop. I promise to see this project taken to its next logical phases from recovery to healthy growth. And I stand by my original promise to this community, made in the IRC on the night we all decided to fork this coin together:

I will not stop until we have a reliable process in place that sees this coin controlled via a transparent and community driven organization.

TL;DR: WhiteCoin to the moon people.

WhiteCoin to the moon.

Mogonzo

Thanks so much for the update! With such leadership in place I'm very excited for the future of this coin.

How to unlock the wallet?I have only option "Change password"

Go to help, debug window, click console tab, the type .....   walletpassphrase yourpassword 10000 true
the number is how many seconds you wish to keep the wallet unlocked.

This workaround will work until we get a new wallet with a button for it... but until then this process accomplishes the same thing.

Regarding wallet staking, think of having an open wallet with a balance as your miner, the balance is your hashing power. The larger the balance, the more chance your wallet will "stake" and earn a return.
937  Economy / Speculation / Re: it will reach $5000 before this year ends on: May 12, 2014, 02:10:57 AM
The Winklevoss fund is about to be listed on NASDAQ.
First of all, creating a new security can take many years. Second, there is no indication by the SEC that it'll be approved. Third, this is not actually adoption, because people buying this can't actually use any real bitcoins and be part of the bitcoin economy. It is only for price speculation, like a CFD.

Bitpay has a huge announcement coming soon.
an announcement about a future announcement about an unknown subject is not even worthy of discussion. that reminds me of mtgox...

Coinbase and Xapo have hinted that Mastercard is coming soon.
hinted?? and this news would hardly qualify as adoption. It will become slightly easier to use coinbase, which already exists - that's not a quantum leap in adoption

You must be so much fun at parties Smiley

where are the dev team for this pos?

how did this coin get so fucked up??   even asiacoin that fucking scamming piece of shit is trading 2x the price of WC?

wtf is wrong with the dev team here? any activity at all from them?

We are not one person and the coin is not dead. Please pour a drink and stop by IRC #whitecoinfoundation if you're interested in helping. This is a community backed coin now--things might not happen as fast but as a reward you get a more transparent dev team.

What is latest wallet version?
I have 1.0.2.0 and is not staking ?!
Its unlocked!

Haven't received a single coin from POS. I feel like its still broke. I have had my coins sitting in an unlocked wallet for over 4 days and nada.

I had the same issue and then it staked a few thousand coins so it works but  seems somewhat random... (Staking difficulty?)

Staking is a probability based on how many coins are in your wallet. More coins=better chance of staking.
