Great job! I'm following this thread semi-closely and things seem to be going well. The small hashrate increase is a nice bonus.
Bkk, I want to thank you again for all the time and energy you are investing in this. One question... do you still plan on offering the boards and parts for sale once a stable design is completed?

Seriously, I don't get how they get so much press. What have they actually done apart from buying some BTC and investing in a couple of co.s?
Because they are tall, handsome, went to Harvard, are mega rich, have had movies made about them... Etc... People love that crap.

Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Klondike] Case design thread for K16

I have designed and will be offering for sale:
Klondike 16 to 3.5" HDD Universal Adapter Mount (allows horizontal or vertical mounting) Klondike 16 to PCIE x16 and x8 (maybe x4/x1 if they are strong enough) slot Adapter Mount Klondike 16 to PCI upper-rail support (like those used in certain 4U rackmount cases). For example there's an $85 Chenbro 4U case on Newegg that could mount at least 13 K16 boards using 5x 3.5" adapters and 8x PCIE upper rail adapters.
These will be 3D-printed. I've already printed and tested them. They work very well.
Also, might sell 'kits' with I2C comm cables, and PCIE 6 pin power cables for the K16's.
Pics later. I'd like to know if there's any interest before going too far down this road.
Prices would be cheap. *very rough guess* $5 per adapter, with $5 shipping in CONUS. Kits for $10 or $15, bulk discounts, etc.
I like the idea of using a 3.5" hdd adapter to fill empty drive bays in my existing pc. Definitely interested.

So, what again does this have to do with Bitcoin? If it's a charity, focus on the charity. Your legal problems are none of our business.
It not a charity. It's the first murder trial offered to be publicized by any bitcoin media outlet. Although I'm sorry for your brother, this isn't the place. If you need pro bono legal help, check the Legal subforum. I'm afraid that's the best you're going to get.

This is one of the most important articles I've ever seen written about Bitcoin.
The writers are respected government advisers who have come together and attached both their names to this explicitly to make a point to whoever is willing to listen.
Agreed. They see the writing on the wall.

Perhaps I could get a show of hands from those who think they would actually buy a kit or board that would require assembly docs?
Yes, this would be my preferred way to go . But I'm obviously not buying large volumes since it's gonna be done manually. Yep, me too. Have the skills to do it so i'd like to make a 16 chip Klondike and 4 little USB ones with the 20 chips I have coming soon. Have you got a plan in place for supplying kits to people? (for ordering and logistics) I'd assume there would be a fair bit of demand. Most people would probably go for a pre-made option though. This is my preferred method as well. I would love to have a kit with boards, parts, stencil and basic assembly instructions.

"The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus. Einstein didn’t construct his theory under order from a bureaucrat. Henry Ford didn’t revolutionize the automobile industry that way." - Milton Friedman
My point is that looters won't beat Satoshi. He is the man who said that he would stop the looters of the world.
And he did.
The notable exception is of course the Internet. The Internet may have been born out of a government agency, but it certainly hasn't grown into what it is today because of it. They deserve a little credit, but don't go too far.

It is impossible to think that bitcoin growth will be steady rather than exponential. For the growth not to be exponential, every person who finds out about bitcoin would have to tell only one person about it. Bitcoin's growth cannot help but accelerate.
100k value for bitcoin sounds as absurd now as the earth being round when you can clearly see it's flat, or the earth rotating around the sun when you can clearly feel that the earth is still and the sun moves in the sky above sounded at other times in history.
I like the way you think.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoins for Edward Snowden.

I agree with you. Anyone who has been reading the news has known that the NSA was monitoring transatlantic communication at the nodes of where the cables come into the US. Also, the NSA is not looking at the actual content of our communication. They were merely creating a network graph of who talks to whom. Yes, that IS an intrusion, but they were working on the assumption that if you know who someone's friends are, you know who they are. I am interested in Bitcoin because I want to make money, and because I believe that if there is a form of currency that makes trade between individuals and small companies in different countries easier, the world will benefit. Snowden violated his employment agreement. He also screwed his life. He made a very bad investment. I guess I'm the only one that thinks this guy is a nimrod. He throws away his life, all to tell us the profound news that the US Govt is snooping on our communications. ROFL Anyhow, I'll throw in a bitcoin... a bitcoin to whoever catches the rat. Did you listen to his interview? He said that he could wiretap anyone at any time from his workstation. Judges, your neighbor, your accountant, even the President. I pay pretty close attention to the news and was not aware of this. Sure we all joke about it being true to an extent, but it's not like there are media outlets regularly informing us of this massive data aggregation. And it is absolutely massive and secret, seeing how all major tech and cellular companies are complicit, yet ordered to deny it when asked. The man has more courage than most of us here, I can assure you of that.

This is exactly what makes it valuable: the unique combination of scarcity and utility that was heretofore unprecedented. Scarcity and utility coming at a time when the downfalls of fiat currency are becoming glaringly clear. Satoshi got the timing right too.

^^I'd like to see a single version of that heatsink.
Something very low-profile is what I'm interested it, so I can stack them close together using spacers and point fans with good static pressure at them. If I remember right, Bkk said something about the heatsink requirements not being much, so something with tall fins might be overkill.
