1641  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dwolla can no longer process deposits or withdrawals to MtGox on: May 14, 2013, 08:02:14 PM
Mutum Sigillum is the name of Mt Gox's Dwolla account.
1642  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox account in the USA has been seized by the DHS? on: May 14, 2013, 07:35:20 PM
Your headline is totally misleading.  All that it says is that you can't get your money out via Dwolla now.  There is no Mt Gox account in the USA

So how does it work on their end? Gox must have a Dwolla account. The email indicates they no longer have access to it.
1643  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox account in the USA has been seized by the DHS? on: May 14, 2013, 07:34:16 PM
Mine doesn't say anything about "seizing".

I have money in limbo too. Isn't this just great.
1644  Economy / Economics / Re: Proof that Bitcoin is going to yield returns beyond my wildest hopes!!! on: May 14, 2013, 06:58:34 PM
Now if those numbers were actually your bitcoin address, I'd be a little worried. Not so much that someone sees it, but rather that the same monkey sitting at a typewriter may eventually produce your private key.
1645  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When will Butterfly Labs (BFL) run out of money? on: May 14, 2013, 04:26:43 AM
I just read about the CEO of Butterfly Labs being a convicted felon, pleading guilty to mail fraud of over $20 million.

What's worse, he strung his victims along by mailing some of them checks. The vast majority, however, lost money. See any correlation?

You've got to be kidding me with this company.

Amazing.
1647  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When will Butterfly Labs (BFL) run out of money? on: May 12, 2013, 03:53:27 AM
you can look that up on Wikipedia.  estimates to produce a 65 nm ASIC easily run 2 to 5 million.  if I had an rtl I could get the Avalon reproduced in less than six months, but that is not a very sophisticated chip.

Don't forget other business costs. Rent, salaries, accounting, employees, equipment, marketing, website.... the list goes on.

I have read the recommendations about avalon miners and found this psu: Seasonic Platinum 1000
It seems to be a nice piece or work, you only need to put in the cables you need and it gets highest values in benchmarks. I think i will get one of these and hope it will be enough to run many or all diy-miners. Maybe, if needed, with y-cables. Unfortunately this psu never is sold cheap at ebay... i have an email alarm since a month without results... Smiley

The PSU is arguably the best investment you can make. Don't cheap out. Well-regarded brands (Corsair, Antec, Enermax) are popular for a reason: they don't die under heavy loads. Most of these have multiple 12V rails you can use, rated to a certain current (say 18A). It'll be important to not overload individual rails.

The Lepa 1600-MA is $288 at Amazon. I bought one. Four 30A rails, two 20A rails, 1600 watts total. 20mV ripple on combined 12V rails under full load with 87% efficiency (according to one review). Yeah, she'll drive a lot of boards nicely Cool
1649  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 11, 2013, 07:13:49 PM
Yeah check that math.

I wonder how feasible overclocking will be. Obviously you could compensate with better cooling/heatsink design. Would one have to manually adjust the voltage, or is it software controlled?
1650  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Got 18x6870 - Need Advice on MOBO/PSU/Risers on: May 11, 2013, 07:25:51 AM
Whaaaat how did you get an order in???

As far as your questions, 4gb of ram should be fine.  I have 6950's and they use 500mbs each.  That x 6 = 3gb which should give you a little left over for your operating system.

If you want to stick to one PSU, your looking at something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817494006
They actually have it on Bitcoinstore for a little cheaper + free shipping.  Just note that you will need to use 2 molex to 6pin adapters, because that psu only has 10 pcie connectors.

Motherboards, there are threads on here discussing good mining mobos+mobos that can hold 6 cards.  You might be able to find some good stuff in there.

Amazon has the Lepa G1600 for $288. Just in case Smiley

Ha! Showed that site to the wife and we had a good laugh for a solid 10 minutes. That poor squirrel!

When I have a prototype I'll attach some test heat sinks and see what works best, and test with the new IR thermometer gun that some kind member here bought me. Smiley

I'd like to add... if there's anything you need, please let us know! I'm sure it's the least we can do for the time you're putting in.
1653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does low number of Bitcoin Facebook "Likes" prove we are all early adopters? on: May 10, 2013, 09:08:16 PM
I think most early adopters value their privacy. If BTC becomes as popular as dogs, watch out because you'll be suddenly sitting on a lot of cash. All sorts of people (family, friends, various leeches, con artists) come out of the woodwork when they find out you have money. Best not to broadcast your wealth to the interwebs.
1654  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 10, 2013, 04:21:41 PM
Will the board have a reset button at least?

Maybe. Read his last post.

Will PCB come fully populated with components with exception of Avalon chips?

No. He's offering boards and parts only. You must assemble them yourself, or find someone who can.

Great to hear Bkk. Awesome work you are doing!

Zero problems with bitinstant. I always send funds straight to a wallet address.
1657  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Medical marijuana bill clears Illinois Senate committee on: May 09, 2013, 07:28:40 PM
Illinois is so deep in the red they're desperate for new sources of revenue. And Chicago's government is so corrupt I wouldn't be surprised is the mob was still involved somehow.
1658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gyft and BitPay Open 50,000 Retail Locations to Bitcoins on: May 09, 2013, 06:41:01 PM
Beautiful. I see a lot of gift cards in my future.
1659  Economy / Speculation / Re: While volume is sinking in the middle of the week on: May 09, 2013, 08:24:23 AM
Then there is the difficulty/price correlation. The more miners, the higher the difficulty, the more secure the network, the more likely Average Joe will buy coins. ASICs will burst onto the scene this summer and if this correlation is true, price will go up.
1660  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: May 08, 2013, 04:31:01 PM
^^^

This occurred to me as well. I assume in that case the parts already in place would simply re-solder themselves. Definitely interested in this idea so long as it is safe to do.
