A lot of bulls on here are like mad cow disease; they give newbies a distorted view of bitcoin and end up taking their money as well, and then lose it all to the master traders/ whales.

Liberal use of the ignore button and checking to take the real people of ignore works well, you get a spam of ignored posts before dumps.
Very cool-- I hadn't really imagined there would be so many straw dummy FUD accounts.

Wink Its sometimes hard to keep up with the new sockpuppets but its better than suffering.

Good idea. It's been harder and harder to wade through this forum.

FYI BTCChina has TEMPORARILY suspended fiat deposits. Key word temporarily.

Sell if you think it's going lower and want to take the risk, but don't let fear take hold. It leads to the Dark Side.

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket....

It's time to choose.

Chinos think themselves so 'patient' LOL

What people don't know about is that east asia in general has a lot of gambling problem. HEAVY gambling problem. It's one of the dirty secrets in those societies.

One of the classic scenario for an individual in deep shit within east asian societies is borrowing money from triads/yakuza/mafia types to fund their one-hit-wonder gambling bets. Horse races, scratchers, lottos, sporting bets, etc.

Lot of those fucks lost shit load of money betting on their 1100 dollar bit coins. They better have not borrowed money from their family to pay for them.

Too late...

Works the same in the US, retirees spending their Social Security checks (borrowed from future generations of course and actively taken from productive workers) to gamble away at Indian casinos. Ever been to one? It's old people pulling levers like drones. You're welcome, Grandpa Grunt. Hope you win big!

aaaah, the smell of denial.

And here I was, thinking this downtrend might be over already... but there you are, guys, coming up with all kinds of explanations why "price is kept down artificially".

Funny, because there's much less conspiracy around when the price is going up, huh?

Jim Cramer admits to doing it in his famous video clip.

Buy up all the bids, then crank the price down. Maybe call a friend and release a negative press release or two. He implies other hedge fund managers do it too, because, well it's incredibly profitable, doesn't take much money and they don't get caught.

Not saying it doesn't happen on the way up, but everyone's making money on the way up.

Well-timed, large sells every time price threatens to break upwards... I wonder if someone knows something we don't.
Yes they do, and no, their not sharing.

Bullish. But it depends on how many sheeple believe him. Or if he's (or they) are intentionally driving down the price before good news.

Bitcoiners never share. They tend to hack, ddos, FUD and scam.

John.K what's going on?

Ohh, the irony.

You've been very outspoken against ragin, yet I don't remember you being in the group buy.

Ragin posted John's email a few pages back. Before the last round of refunds I was able to get a hold of him via that address. He should be done with school by now, hopefully he gets back here soon and wraps things up.

The four and six hour charts look much less menacing.

Hope you all have your gambling shoes on.

Incorrect. Phew. Understatement of the century. If you have read any of my threads, you know very well that I know a lot about many things, and actively use this knowledge to my advantage.

You absolutely do. Which means no one should be listening to your advice if they want to keep their coins.

I do like your pink Mary Kay car though Cheesy

I find it hard to believe that any legitimate financial intuition will allow peoples retirement fund to be put into Bitcoins.

I find it hard to believe that you were around during single-digit BTC prices and are not retired on an island somewhere.

European finance ministers have reached the basis of an agreement to wind down failing banks and share the costs, Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem told CNBC following a 16-hour marathon negotiating session in Brussels.

The agreement is expected to begin with a Cyprus-style "bail-in" process in which major depositors in failing banks are tapped first in an effort to support the lender.

This is positive news for Bitcoin, is it not? Or are we worried about how this could impact Bitstamp?

May be similar to the Cypress bail-in news, which was fairly significant.

Great read indeed. He actually exchanged emails with Satoshi. Amazing.

Blockchain is still in the app store, and is fully functional for BTC transfers.

And you can use Safari to log onto Coinbase, Bitstamp, or whatever exchange you need. Their mobile sites are quite good.

hopefully they are all trying so eager to create their own coin that bitcoin stands out of the corporate coin zoo.

They are not eager to create their own cryptocurrency when they are dependent on central banks for money creation and bailout needs. Besides it would take them 6+ months. They are stuck in an old paradigm.

The question as far as I'm concerned is whether this is real or some type of dead cat bounce.  I mean to get over $1000, close to $1100 would mean something to me.  If it stalls out soon though I'd be worried it's headed for another drop.  We'll see I guess.  Anyone familiar with characteristics of dead cat bounce?

I think the resistance (walls) before 900 (Stamp) are significant to calm the earlier flash rally. But "we" don't want to crash again. Profits have been taken, coins have been distributed to stronger hands. We may sit tight for awhile before more money (or news) causes an accumulation cycle to begin again.
1319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why are you all so worried ? on: December 09, 2013, 05:43:52 PM
Bitcoin can't create new "wealth", it can only redistribute it. The strong take it from the weak hands. Bitcoin is now in the hand of greedy speculators, most buyers only want to increase their wealth, but not everybody can win. Who will be left holding the bag? I don't predict an epic crash this year, but at some time there will be a significant correction and a lot of money will be burnt -> same as every stock crash. Most buyers are going to lose and a few will profit!

Isn't this how all markets work, since, like forever?

Financial instruments don't create wealth either, they represent value and are a tool to distribute it among willing investors seeking profit. Bitcoin's valuation is representative of its potential and infrastructure behind it. It's both a currency and financial tool to speculate on its underlying value. Speculators are necessary for price discovery. Some are greedier than others.

If everyone cashed out Apple stock at the same time after learning iOS 8 steals your identity and takes out a mortgage in your name, you'd get the same effect. And yes it could happen with Bitcoin with the right "perfect storm" of catastrophic news--that's the risk we take. Until then, not all investors will seek to cash out simultaneously. It's the same way with insurance companies: Their business model is dependent on everyone NOT getting in a car accident at the same time Smiley
1320  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why didn't you sell? on: December 09, 2013, 05:01:33 PM
Traders like oda.krell have years of market experience and are much better equipped to time these price swings than the average bear. I'd listen to his advice way before Captain Hindsight here.

Put your money where your mouth is, JayB. Will the price break $1000 in the next 48 hours or is this a dead cat bounce? Let's see this mind in action.
