And so it was written.

And as it is such, so also as such is it unto you.

Still waiting. He hasn't logged in since 11/3.... does anybody know if he went out of town or something? I'm starting to get nervous.

Is anyone else tired of seeing this chart?

The most impressive thing about this Chinese run up is that is coming on huge volume, the most we've seen there during this rally.

We could literally see them run all the way up to 3000 ($482)  in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, if that happens I literally think the other exchanges are going to sit there and watch it happen.

Which could be a good thing. If the other exchanges don't react on the way up, they probably won't react much on the way down.

The arbitrage opportunities for those with the means will be too great to keep a large price difference going for long.

I have an interesting decision to make. I'll not be able to trade over the week-end, and probably for the whole next week.
Most of the coins were moved to a cold wallet.
Now, what to do with the rest...
Initially I planned to sell all and place scattered buy orders from below 250 and down to 150 with 3-5 dollar distance, and see which of them would get filled during my absence.
Looking at the latest development and extrapolating what happened in April, I am starting to get inclined to do the opposite: place scattered sell orders from 350 and up to 600, and hope that the top will not arrive before that, to subsequently re-buy at the new level, which I think will be around 400 (+/-100).
Any input from the experts?

You could always donate them to me!  ;-)  It would sure help my .19 BTC wallet expand slightly...

Ha. I'm hurting too, lost 65btc to Yifu in the chip debacle. I try not to think about it. Any wealthy sugar daddy wants to help heal the pain...

Wow what a crazy night.

Is it just the beginning, or do we get a correction?

What about CampBX? Do they not look legitimate? Their price has been low, and liquidity pretty small, I even wonder how/why are they continuing this business, it doesn't seem profitable at all.

The reason for the price difference on BX is because Dwolla pulled their business recently. Now there is no easy way to get large sums of fiat there other than postal money orders through snail mail. When they start ACH bank transfers later this month the gap will close quickly.

I find this whole discussion somewhat ridiculous.

Maybe the Gox wall is holding the price down to bring it back into alignment.

1457  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: November 06, 2013, 02:13:17 AM
Thanks, Pablo.

I just want to chime in another thought on what my ideal stop loss function would look like.

I notice a lot of the time the bot will make trades that will lose money, not large sums, but enough that over time my account would get nickeled & dimed to a significant extent.

For example the first trade it ever did was selling low & buying high, and it didn't just happen that 1 random time- it's happening so often that it's indicating that it's a common occurance. So somehow the bot sees trends and does what it thinks is best even when it's not always best, and I can't help thinking there must be a way to code a subroutine to check for these scenarios and protect against their occuring.

If somehow the trading engine can be programmed to only make profits, and not trade at a loss in these cases when it does so, the savings would add up I think.

For people who are trading with smaller amounts of money, these 3-9% losses are more of an impact on their working capital, and thus their income potential, than those of us with larger sums which provide greater cushion to absorb these trading anomolies.

Markets are difficult to predict. If one could program a bot to always be profitable, everyone would do it.

There are always losers to winners. The profit you make as a trader is a loss to somebody else.

There are times where the market *should* go up and down, but doesn't, and vice versa. And Bitcoin doesn't always appreciate. There have been numerous bear markets, and sometimes the price stagnates (ranges) for weeks and weeks. That's when EMA trading is helpful--it identifies a (potential) up or downtrend, and trades accordingly to put you on the correct side of it to profit.

DDOS is sooooo six months ago.
1459  Economy / Speculation / Re: Uncharted territory. What happens at $266? on: November 05, 2013, 06:55:36 PM
I think we'll probably blow right by it, since this rally seems to be driven by the chinese, and $266 has no significance for them.

Looking forward to some uncharted territory.

You forgot:

5) $266 has absolutely no meaning to Chinese investors, who are looking more at ¥1600, so it blows right through it like nothing because it doesn't matter to the people who are dragging the market around like a rag doll right now.

I was thinking about this today. Now that we have three major exchanges representing different parts of the world and currencies, we should see some pretty amazing price movement. Now it's Gox, Stamp and China; once CampBX implements ACH transfers later this month Americans will have another good choice besides Coinbase.
