is it a fork of boolberry with a different algo just or am ı understanding wrong ?

Why do you think that?

"The foundation of Sia is a proof of work blockchain"

this is in the explanation so i've asked

Why does "proof of work blockchain" makes you think of boolberry first? :-D

On the OP -
Quote
Sia's hashing algorithm is blake2b. p2pool and multisig wallets are both supported on Sia.

I have a couple of questions about mining sia. If I leave my wallet on and mining, will it reset itself and start actually mining real coin once the coin goes live? Or do I have to download a different version, clear something from the cache, delete the .dat file, be there at the right time or something else to get it to work?

Also, where do I find a GPU mining build that I can just download and run? How about a pool? You know, the normal stuff people use to mine crypto.

Thanks.

I think you need to download a different version. Testnet's blockchain is different from the one in the real production.

I'm running 0.3.0b331 on Win7/64. Works fine.
On June 07th, will this wallet update to new product? or must we download a new client?
Will any testnet SC be removed automatically?
For hosting, how to direct Sia contracts to appropriate drive/partition?
Can't find any information about this on thread. I guess a few people will be wondering how to get started.
Basic how to will be welcome.  Smiley

maybe you just need to wait for enough confirmations... how many blocks ago did you get your coins?

On the testnet you'll need 50 confirmations, on the full network you'll need 144 confirmations. There will be a spec sheet released shortly.

Is this wallet mining only? Any pools?

There are no pools, we'll have p2pool running at some point in the near future.

Please keep in mind that we're a very fresh coin. Everything was built in-house, which means we don't have a lot of the infrastructure like mining pools yet. All these things take time to build, but we wanted to release the coin and the initial storage platform to the world.

=====

Sorry in advance, but I'm going to disappear until launch. We've got a lot to do and we need to avoid distractions while we finish everything up. Thanks for understanding.

hey all

I'm having some REAL confusion here.

I ran the siag script, it gave me a

Keys created for address: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
1 file(s) created. KEEP THESE FILES. To spend money from this address, you will need at least 1 of the files.
logout

I sent the key to Taek with my SIAassets but now I do not know where these files are. What is the file name? in the Sia_Address_Generator-v1.0-darwin_amd64 folder there is just the siag file and readme

I think the file is your private key for your account. After launch, your siafunds will be sent to your account and you can access it by this file.

There's been a bit of confusion so I'll say it again:

Launch is on the 7th at noon EST. That's about 18.5 hours from the time this post was made.

A lot of people have been asking for features and tools like block explorers and mining pools. Please keep in mind that this coin is very young (fetus!), and doesn't have all the same infrastructure of some of the mature coins. But it will, we are actively working on building out the important parts of the coin. Thanks for being patient.

What? I thought this already launched. Is that why I have 13 blocks mined, but the wallet shows 0 SC?

Only involved with this coin for about 25 minutes now lol, but wallet opened and updated smoothly, I am mining with 3 threads at the moment and have found 1 block so far.

So this is test net only. Ok will keep reading up on this as I have questions naturally but seems like a cool concept. Does remind me of Maid safe in certain ways. I want to try the file uploading soon. Also, I have no idea yet as to how to set up the hosting, pricing etc. and the amount of storage to make available, or what is recommended. I would think the more storage available the more one can make? and I assume once we set that part up we then need to "announce" it.

PS: Make sure your CPU cooling fan/ heatsink is clean and up to par lol

Coin's currently in testnet mode. In about 14 hours it'll launch fully. You should see your testnet coins count towards your balance once they confirm, which is 50 confirmations. On the actual network tomorrow, it'll take 144 confirmations. Any mining done between now and the actual launch won't mine actual Siacoins, only testnet coins which are often wiped on release anyway.

You'll need to re-download. We're working on being able to update by clicking an update button in the UI, but for now you still have to re-download.
