Match fixing is almost Nil in my view. Because of the punishment given to the players caught into match fixing have made the cricketers not to think of it. Even in the lower leagues it is very low, because every team wants to reach the next level. Losing matches for money would surely downline the team and the same could affect players. Even now there are ball tampering and other tricks followed, which isn't easily found.

Nil? I disagree. Mafia gangs are still fixing certain bets in matches across different formats though their profits have definitely decreased over time due to their methods getting exposed to the public.

I don't think match fixing will ever completely go away, but I hope it continues decreasing over time in all sports.

On this I would agree that match fixing will never end completely and is not possible as per the current situation. Usually when we get information about match fixing we are very concerned about it. Otherwise no one can give any assurance that such fixed matches are not being organized in many unknown matches around the world. Various betting companies are currently engaged in various malpractices including match fixing. As greed is an important factor in human natural religion that is difficult to control, match fixing is also a common factor that cannot be controlled.

Match fixing is possible in lower leagues but in the top leagues where the players earn huge compensation, it is highly unlikely that players would be willing to risk their career for some pocket change because once you are caught you get a blanket ban on competing again. In Cricket we saw some scandals in the past and all of those players were banned and with the money involved right now, none of the players would risk that and jeopardize their career.

There will always be players who will be interested in match fixing no matter what. It's about the thrill that they get from match fixing which they generally don't get anywhere else. But of course, a rational-thinking player, he is not going to jeopardize his career just because of some money. Especially when he knows that they are can be a big penalty for this as well

You never know. Back in 2013, two of the franchise owners themselves were getting involved in betting. And they bet in matches involving their respective teams. Now what is the guarantee that there will be no pressure on the players to underperform, so that the management can earn some profits through gambling? The BCCI swept this issue under the carpet, because one of the accused was the son-in-law of mafia don N Srinivasan and back then the Srinivasan-Pawar mafia had complete control of the BCCI.

For those people, it is not like they have a lot of money but they still want more. So if we think money is going to stop match fixing but I believe we would be wrong. But match fixing has also been reduced a lot. Making gambling legal is a good idea. Actually speaking is a good idea if done correctly.

Yeah. The worst thing about all of this is that casual bettors like me cannot place bets on these lower level leagues because sportsbooks find out about these fixing issues and they end up not adding those markets.

I don't understand why people are laughing towards the Russians. Well, actually I do understand why, because men cannot be dumb in this world. And the Russians were dumb. Not doing any research.

Match fixing is always going to happen in smaller tournaments. It causes a lot of problems, especially in those tournaments where rules and regulations are not kept a close eye upon. Even in bigger countries, match fixing does happen. But it does not happen in big tournaments.

With the many franchise leagues and other small leagues things are looking good for these mafias and other gamblers even surely their profit is going to be less, but they are also doing good things in big leagues as well which are happening with the help of many big names which are giving them access to manage things for themselves even still now profit is going down, but they are happy as they can bring things for their own which is big success for them.

In soccer, we have also many things like these which are happening but no one caring as mostly matches are under fair play policy and here I have to be agreed with few members about this is not stoppable, but official can manage thing with tough punishments if they have any player or official involved in this all same happening in cricket where punishments and restrictions can bring better play and results.

Basically some leagues are built around fixing activities. At this time most gamblers conduct gambling with the possibility of match fixing. This is not only the case with the small leagues but also with franchise based leagues. Again, many of the gamblers think that there can be such a picture in many international matches except for some countries. But i have a different opinion on international matches, i agree that fixing is a common thing in small or big leagues. Definitely not all sports should be suspected of fixing. Cricket Boards as well as ICC are closely monitoring due to such allegations in recent times. Their laws have been amended and made more stringent but still this kind of fixing cannot be stopped.

We all know that there are a lot of scams going on in the name of legal things. That is what scammers tried. I honestly think it was going to hurt India as a cricket playing nation if people got scammed for a huge amount of money. At least that did not happen. Actually, I want to look at the positive side of this. It could easily have been another story like-  Scammers are actually getting a huge amount of money from this and people are not talking about it (who got scammed) because they do not want to make a full out of themselves by saying that in public.

The scam culture is huge in certain parts of the world, and the SEA region is one of them in my opinion.

This is wrong, mastering T20 cricket can be done by anyone. Playing ODI is different, and I'm sure playing ODI and moving to T20 is better than just focusing on T20 cricket. These countries are slowly making their progress and in the long run they need experience. The matches played will help them face critical situations. More countries into cricket, but we were able to watch quite a limited number of quality games. The change takes place slowly.

Another thing, native player controversy continues forever. Even with the top teams we've got players born in other countries and playing for a different country. When someone doesn't gets recognised in the home country they look for opportunities and when some other country is ready to give chance it is obvious to accept.

Afghanistan, Netherlands and Ireland may soon be joined by teams like Nepal. Those who are not yet aware of Nepal cricket can find a good change if they watch their match. I find Nepal more reliable than other teams like Namibia, Papua New Guinea, United Arab Emirates and some others. Winning 5 matches consistently has boosted their confidence and they have also been appreciated internationally.
