It's just really impossible bitcoin can ever replace dollar or any other fiat money. No chance at all.
Bitcoin can replace dollar to see the interest of people in it, it is now going to be acceptable worldwide. No one there is its national owner, it is made for online worldwide use and as now the age of Internet is spreading all over the world and all types of transaction are going to be done online, so it will replace. But the fiat maybe remain there in its place. |

Well for now bitcoin could not resist fiat, bitcoin requires fiat to be worth, bitcoin can not stand alone. Bitcoin can't replace dollar. Dollar has been universally accepted and in use, but the universal acceptance of bitcoin takes long time. As now only a small percentage of the world population is accepting as a currency |

Right now, the US dollar is the reserve currency so therefore it might take a little longer than we expected for Bitcoin to replace it.
We need mainstream adoption to gain a step ahead for this to happen. The day that Bitcoin replaces the Dollar, would be the day that it would be used by all countries around the world (main currency)

I don't think Bitcoin will replace Dollar. Many people dont even know Bitcoin.
It is also difficult to make such a switch for a big country.

I`m not sure. Probably not in the next 15 years. Even if the USD collapses, they will just cut some 0's out and call the new currency dollar too.
There are hardly any world currencies being proposed currently, except bitcoin.

Not in the near future or even bitcoin can't replace dollar as currency, bitcoin too complicated to use and people still doubt in bitcoin because of the massive price movement. Most people need a stable and strong price as currency not a currency which move up and down faster it's make them insecure and people not yet ready to accept it nowadays. |

I believe bitcoin can overtake dollars in very near future in terms of online usage volume. This may reflect in plastic card usage in next decade. This way bitcoin will replace dollars.
Maybe in the online transaction it may come in lead compared with other cryptcurrencies but it won't equal with regular transaction done for dollars through network. The second statement is quite appreciable of plastic cards implementation as now itself very few countries using plastic currencies.Noway bitcoin replace dollar. |

Why not??? It is possible for BTC... You haven't heard of places where only BTC is being used to survive??? Also, there are countries where you can use your coins to pay for your hotel, bills, etc... But that is not the case in all countries, many countries have not even heard about the bitcoins, so paying in bitcoins as a mode of payment is very difficult and it will take a long time to happen, but dollar is widely used and widely accepted in every country, bitcoin is new technology and dollar is traditional, bitcoin will more stronger in future but I don't think it can replace dollar worldwide. But there are many places where bitcoin is not used, but in those places, people uses their local currency and are not connect to international world but only their governments and other big organizations. The thread is about replacing the dollar not about replacing the local currency in the local use of every region of the world. So, upto where the dollar is used it will be replaced with bitcoin. |

I still dont think it`ll replace a world currency at all. I see bitcoin more as a function like a western union play then anything else, you gotta keep in mind that if it was the dollar. Then it would have to process transactions on the daily way more then it is now, which means increasing block size which the community doesnt want etc. |

I think for the near future, it will not happen, fiat still too strong Fiat still strong. One day it may occur that the true money tries to compromise with the fiat money. If this happens the dollar might be replaced by bitcoin. It takes centuries for that particular day to come. When people start to use bitcoin in all places that might be the start of such a scenario to take place in the future. |

I think it's all been proven by bitcoin, anonyms, convenience, faster transactions, security, etc all owned by the bitcoin, just waiting for the right time, for bitcoin take over the position of the dollar |

Everything is changing fast nowadays so it's possible that what we now think will happen in 20 years will really happen in 5 years or so. Personally I think Bitcoin will not replace the Dollar completely but that a big part of the transactions related to the online trading will be in Bitcoins pretty soon (it will take maybe several years or so). |

To be honest, I think it's naive to think that bitcoin will REPLACE the dollar ever. Bitcoin can attain widespread use without replacing the dollar.
To replace the dollar, each bitcoin would have to be worth around $250k, and for bitcoin to reach that price would require some serious price volatility, and price volatility like that would prevent bitcoin from being widely adopted... people want a stable currency.
