Dollar is too much popular and it has taken a large period to make his place in world economy so bitcoin will also require a hard struggle and a longer period to make a place resemble to dollar, but do not think that it will replace or not.
Not only popular, the dollar has more value since many economies depend on it. Not just the US. At this moment there is no currency that comes even close to compete with the dollar. Not even the EURO or Yuan. So no it's not possible, because the dollar (us economy) needs to crash at least 1 time.

Very unlikely for bitcoin to replace the dollar. The dollar is controlled by the governments, backed by gold and used the world over. Bitcoin is great as an alternate currency and for those who prefer anonymity and decentralization.
Governments and banks are actively looking into Bitcoin technology. While they may not decide to use Bitcoin really doesn't matter because now they have legitimised it and Bitcoin is unstoppable. If i could pay my rent, food and utilites in btc I'd already do that I share same opinion with you guys. Its almost impossible for btc to replace dollar. Even if we can imagine that to happen, we are talking about far future. Everyone looking into blockchain, but what will they do about it is a big question. With money they have, they are capable for big things. How its gonna happen is a secret for us ordinary people, if I can say like that. Technology is replacing jobs constantly, more jobs are being automatized by technology than new ones are created, therefore in the long term the unemployment can only rise.
Technology! Magic word. And bitcoin itself is a technology, and cause of that I see bitcoin in the future. There is one nice thread about some article : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1510598.0"... you cannot have blockchain without bitcoin..." What to say more!?

The dollar is way too big, and the bitcoin is now way too small to do this, maybe in the future it got a chance but I honestly think its gonna be very difficult to do this even in the future. yeah, currently dollar is too much bigger, because it has a large number of users, bitcoin can also become a bigger currency if more and more people start to come to adopt bitcoin and use it instead of all other currencies at least for their international use.

Yeah you are correct dollar can not replace by bitcoin because dollar is very well know currency even a kids know this currency while bitcoin will take more years to be well known currency and no one know if it will adopt by all country

It's more about local use than international use because if local economies start paying people in Bitcoin and real estate owners and grocery stores start accepting Bitcoin then it will be a lot easier. Obviously at the start those business will need to sell the Bitcoin for fiat but eventually Bitcoin will sustain itself and then people will only see and use Bitcoin.

If we're all being realistic here, I think we all know that fiat isn't going away a currency like WAVES has the right idea of being a fiat gateway for crypto.

I think fiat is going to go away very soon, which is exactly opposite of what you're saying right here. The current world economy is not looking good, and when the dollar collapses, which it will, people will get into BTC instead. Time will tell, guys.

Although we cannot predict the future but I agree that bitcoin future is good, I can tell it already base on what the BTC is going right now. People already find that bitcoins is a good currency that will give the economy to improve more, we just need time to get the support of the big sectors of the industry and we will experience success.

How come all big sectors of the industry will support this currency if most of the time bitcoin were used as an investment. A currency needs to circulate and that is the role of dollar today and other fiat currency. Bitcoin are great for making profit no doubt about that because of it's active price fluctuations but that is not the factor to consider to make this currency replace dollar. Like I said circulation and not just ordinary circulation but in regular basis.

You are right same goes with bitcoin, it is very difficult to speculate that bitcoin will going to replace dollar soon. I find it possible and impossible. Possible because the value is getting higher and higher and the demand is also rising. Impossible because the government can't control it and it has only 21 million supply limit.

It's hard and impossible for bitcoin to replace dollar. There are many things on bitcoin that makes bitcoin can't replace dollar, it's like bitcoin don't have a paper money like dollar.

Maybe in the future if the government and it's congressmen will have an agreement together with it's constituent to have a digital currency. That will turn to a cashless society. Then bitcoin will going to be the first choice of it and that can be done when they are going to create a bill for the changing dollar into bitcoin.

Yeah that's true it's hard for bitcoin to replace dollar as of now but i think there is a possibility of that scenario in the future. Because if many people will use bitcoin so why not to use it as a main currency aside from dollar. I think it will be awesome that if we are going to malls we don't need some cash we just need our mobile phone and have a internet access to buy some things. It will make our task easier .

No this will not happen in my eyes because of the fact that the bitcoin is too small compared with it. The most people are not even trusting the bitcoin, also the fact that the dollar is already many years a trusted currency..

I honestly don't think it'll happen, certainly not in 15 years... In 100 years maybe?
I think that this is never going to happen because the Dollar has been around for to long and the Bitcoin has been just around. the one thing that could happen is that the Dollar is going to take over the Bitcoin.

I dont thinks so that it will replace soon and that is because you have to know that there are still a lot of people that is using Dollar as their payment method so that is really important. And it is kind of hard to know what is going to happen later in the future with the value of Bitcoin itself.

Dollar and bitcoin are different currencies and no one can take over each other, people will use both in future according to their convenience, and it won't affect each other for sure.

It will be impossible to replace dollars with bitcoins fifteen years from now. There are still areas that internet cant reach and many people doesnt know what bitcoin is. It needs gradual development that will took more than fifteen years. It will still be possible that dollars will be replaced by bitcoins but at this present time it is hard to tell when is that time maybe 50 years from now.
