Why are people scared of taxes?

Taxes is ok. The government needs funding to run but it has to be 10% flat not the abusive 32% and even more. In return the government has to treat the taxes as sacred and must allocate it with care and vigilance.

depnd on your government. If you know your taxes will be spend for the good of the country and it's people then paying tax is a good feeling but if you know givernment official is corrupt then paying tax is something you never want to do coz it will only be wasted. better to spend it for your family and enjoy your hard earned money.

Because some countries has a very big taxes, like not every person wish to pay half of his or her incomes. And what about reality estates taxes? That's insane!

I agree because if GOD is taking 10% of our salary I don’t think the government has any right to take more than the amount that GOD himself is taking. They shouldn’t take too much that will hurt the individual.

If you want something to destroy your life, don't pay your taxes or make a mistake.   Has not happened to me, but to a relative.  Between interest and penalties they almost lost everything they own.  It was partially their fault, they forgot to attach required documents, and by the time the taxing agency contacted them, the interest and penalties had compounded to an incredible amount in an incredible short period of time.  Tax time is nail biting time for me.

People are scared of taxes much like why we are scared of alot of things. Simply because we don't understand it and if we make a wrong move. We could be penalized by a huge penalty or simply be put to jail. Our fears stems from the unknown. Of we actually sit down and research the taxes we pay and when we should pay it we can actually know how to actually get around to not paying them or paying less taxes. You should know the rules so you'll know how to bend them with breaking them.

I don't know why ppl are always scared of paying taxes.
taxes are actually a great thing but only if everyone pays them and if they are spend on useful things only. Just look out your window and you will see lots of things paid with your taxes you use everyday.

Well here in the Philippines, you don't really see much outcome of paying your taxes. That's why there are a lot of people who may not be afraid or scared, but more likely hesitant to do so. It was hard especially for the minimum wage earners who don't get to take home enough, but after the implementation of the TRAIN law, somehow there's a slight change of what you can bring home. And all I can say is I hope that our taxes go to the correct people or correct projects.

Not having enough money to pay your bill. I can't tell you how many clients that I have that don't file returns or reply to letters because they can't pay their tax bill in full. While it's always better to pay on time, the world won't end if you don't. If you can pay the full amount eventually, you can work out a payment plan with IRS (more on this later in the week).

Maybe they feel that their taxes are not being put into good use and because of that they are unwilling to pay but unfortunately failure to pay taxes results in imprisonment because that's how the government funds and run everything in the country and a broke government is an angry government.

I am not afraid of paying taxes. Because I know that I would be beneficial also of those paid taxes. I can see how the infrastructure improves in our country and how the health insurances becomes beneficial to everyone. Maybe to some paying taxes is some kind of a burden and they do not appreciate the benefits they are getting from it.

Lot of people have this feeling that when goverment is not providing me with enough facilities then why should I pay taxes to the govermentt. ? The irony is that Govermentt. is not able to provide you those good facilities which you wanted is because Goverment. is not generating enough revenue to fund these new infrastructure facilities

Its not that they are scared hence they are only thinking that they paid taxes for the goods only of some corrupt politicians. Paying taxes is an obligation of each employed citizen of a country, to make improvements in its vicinity and to develop some structures, like building roads, public hospitals and schools for the people. All of that will return as a great and make each citizen live peacefully and better if the government is not corrupt.

No one feels good when a significant part of their earnings get stolen by the authorities. And the bitterness worsens when the individuals find out that most of this money is being used for wasteful purposes.

I happend to be studying tax administration,  why people are afraid of taxes ? it's okay,i will explain
don't trust with the tax officer and because charging SPT/ PPH is more complicated

When you are businessman and taxes eat all your profit, wont you be scared. Yes paying it is scarely but it is good in the long run for the society to function.
