Busser has apologized after making a Novak Djokovic joke that went too far.
Has this story with Djokovic gone too far?

https://mobile.twitter.com/TrackerTennis/status/1280134080290385921

I think he went to far with that kind of joke, as I have said before, Djokovic has messed up and that media will really take him down whether in a form of joke or something. But this kind of attack went over board, IMHO.

Everyone should move on with Djokovic now, I think he already suffered a lot here.

It could be an 'easy' tournament for Djokovic in the US Open, but we don't know maybe we can see surprises, and other names besides him will win if the US Open resumes without the all star cast we used to see.

I agree, he did go a little too far with this joke and I also think that Djokovic has been ridiculed enough in the media and by other players so I think it is time that it stops. He has made a mistake and lets be honest just take a look around the world right now, how many higher up powers have made mistakes and are making mistakes when it comes to this virus. I can name many government leaders right now and the thing is that it seems that there is no way of stopping this virus no matter what we all do. The thing is that people want sports back, want to go out and want the economy to get moving again so there is a lot of pressure on governments and sporting bodies to get things going again which can cause things like what we saw with the Djokovic tournament. No matter what no one can win when there is a virus like the one we currently have and its going to take a long time before we return to normal and that goes for everything. As the saying your dammed if you do and your dammed if you don't.

Yes, if Novak enters the US Open and other top tier players are either sideline with injuries on has been infected by the virus, Djokovic will have the perfect match for him. However, there will be a question mark, in my opinion. Of course, a win is a win, but without that much competition around, maybe down the line when he retires, there will some question, specially when we talk about this greatness in the tennis court.

yeah, but one can then question a lot of titles, Rafa and Roger won three grand slams each, while Djokovic was out for injury, and Djokovic won four or five while Rafa and Roger were not at their best due to injuries, even Murray would hardly see top spot, if there was not for top players injuries and down performance

it is all sport, and nobody would question their trophies in ten years, maybe hatters, but they would question it anyway
It's different situation though, this is the first time that we will see sports having this pandemic, it's only comparable to ww2 when almost all the sports got suspended. Injuries is very different in my opinion, and there are two sides in every story, of course there are haters, but there are also fans who will debate this for many years whoever won the US Open 2020 under the new norm.

@vella85 I agree with you that he crossed a line with this joke, but let’s be honest don’t we all get what his main aim was (publicity), and he got tons of publicity at the expense of Djokovic which is really sad. Also I don’t think Djokovic will be forgetting this soon, as his opponents will definitely keep reminding him of this incident, and I hope that he finds the strength to cope with this mental torture, that he’ll be subject too when the play resumes again.

I do think that Djokovic has the mental strength when it comes to his opponents sledging him if it does come to that however I think that once the crowds come back that they will be even more hostile against Djokovic which could break him down mentally. All this could really put an end to his dominance in tennis and might put a stop to him becoming the top grand slam winner. I've always said that I do believe that he would some day be the top grand slam winner but now I am having my doubts after all this.

I don't agree with you
Djokovic is the best tennis player in the world because of his mental strength.
He won many times in difficult tennis matches,  even when all fans was against him, like in Wimbledon final last year with Federer,  because of his mental strength.
He will win more grand slams and become GOAT.
I don't see who can stop him now.

Djokovic has been in the most hostile environment so personally, I don't think it will have a big effect on him playing his best even if the fans are against him. For now, no one can challenge him, after his recovery from injury last year, he has perform even better prior to the injury. So with that said, he can surpass Federer in this era to become the most successful tennis player in history in terms of winning.

@vella85 you this statement is not correct as I am also watching Djokovic for years mentalli he is best tennis player in recent time even phyiscally he is not good enough but sometime he done great jobs against top ranked players and we watch how strong he is mentalli and physically even if crowd is against him its not going to be any problem for him as he can do his best job in next few years we will watch he coule be one off greatest tennis player of this era.

^^ You don't need to be physically gifted to be a good tennis player, you just need to be agile. But Djokovic doesn't need to proved anything, he is the reigning number 1 player today, so that speaks for how strong he is psychologically, whether fans is on his side or not, and most of the time they are not specially against Nadal and Federer. So there is no doubt that someday he will be recognise for his achievements.

Please read what I post guys, I know that Djokovic has been up against hostile crowds in the past which is why I said that they may become even more hostile towards him which could really affect him in the long term. Yes it was in finals where the crowds were against him but we could see it happen in every match he plays which can take its toll on him. That is the point I was trying to make, just go back through my posts on here and you will all see that I have been one of the biggest supporters for Djokovic and that I highly respect him for what he has achieved in this sport.

Novak Djokovic 🇷🇸 He has proven to be a great athlete and also a great human being. I am looking forward to seeing him in action soon.

Social media can be cruel when you make a mistake. I hope that the fact that he tested positive for Covid19 and was highly questioned does not disturb him psychologically.

I have taken a look on his official Twitter account and there has not been a new update only that of having tested positive for Covid19.

While Federer and Nadal's accounts are up-to-date and fans show their love and admiration for their idols, those displays of affection strengthen anyone.

That is good to hear that Wimbly is being fair specially for those low rank players to get paid. Specially that we are in the pandemic and tennis players are not making money, kudos to them.

And I think US Open is also not reducing their prize money, because they understand the current situation. I don't know who's who in the US Open this year, but I bet that there are just a couple of top rank and more of a mid to lower rank who are trying to enter and win the trophy and the huge money.

Wow, great move of Wimbledon, other organisations can take an example to them!
For the top players, the cancellation isn't really a big issue, but for the low ranked players, it will make a huge difference.

Regarding the Djokovic case, I am not a fan of him and will never become one, but although he is mentally strong, this whole Corona affair will play in his head. We will need to wait and see how he will react on the tennis court.

This is what we like to see in sports as this will go a long way to helping the lower ranked players earn something in a very tough year. We are still unsure how many tournaments will be played this year so it will help. The US Open will be interesting to see which top ranked players will come to play and also that we may see a lower ranked player win this year. I just hope that the US Open goes well without any issues when it comes to the virus as in the US its getting out of control.

LOL, its seems that the whole Djokovic drama is not yet over. I'm a fan of him and we really appreciate what he had done so far, although again there are fans who doesn't like his attitude because its short of being arrogant. But he needs to accept that, whether he like it or not. The best thing to do of him is to go and get that US Open title if he can.

He is mentally strong no doubt about that, maybe he can have some lapses resulting in a loss. But with so many trophies already I think he is not that mentally weak in spite of current drama he is in.

I will say that most likely, we will only see a few top rank players competing in the US Open. And I think this is why the organizers didn't decrease the prize money to at least attract more players to go and compete despite the situation and the worsening of the virus spread in the US as it is really getting out of hand now. So players are in the dilemma, whether to go or not, but I'm thinking that most of them are not going to sacrifice their health and doesn't want to get infected.

Well if Djokovic does play at the US Open I think he has a big chance at winning and what will make it a little easier is that there won't be any crowds as like I said once crowds are allowed back I do think that they will be very hostile towards Djokovic which even though he has a strong mentality he might fight it hard. We have seen in the past he can block out the crowds and win but it has mostly been against other top players and in finals, this time around we may see him being booed in all his matches which could take a toll on him, I hope it doesn't happen but there are a lot of fans that don't like him so we shall see what happens once crowds are back.

Yes, if he plays definitely he will be the betting favorites and I will love to see him sweating to get that US Open trophy again, LOL. I'm also thinking that same, without fans that are going to boo at him, he can really focus on his opponent, unless his opponent is really distracting like Nick "the bad boy" Kyrgios.

But as I have said, I doubt that he can be affected by fans going hostile and booing him, he has been used to that environment before.

He is the favorite to win the US open trophy especially without fans.
But from the moment, crowd is back allowed, it will be different times. Because then, the amount of booing against him will be x10, can he cope with that? I have my doubts.
