What a start of this first semifinal between to quality players in the world Khachanov vs Ruud in first set both breaks serve two times, but fight back very quickly which is showing their commitment and quality which is essential for this Grand Slam after end of first set with the score of 6 - 6 Ruud won this by tiebreaker with the score of 7 - 5 look like it's going to be five set match as both are having good service and good returns entertaining match is going to be long both are fighting hard for place in final as now after many years we are going to have final without big three.

Second set started with Khachanov done good start after having score of 0 - 40 won his first game.
Ruud improved his game on hard court drastically since last season. He still isn't the best out there but he can run to almost any ball and he is solid with all his strokes. Still can't believe he has a chance to be no. 1 in the world if he gets further then Alcaraz here.

Very interesting situation all around, if Ruud and Alcaraz loose today - Nadal is no.1. If one of them wins and the other looses, winner is no.1. I want to see Ruud - Alcaraz final and if we get it, then the winner of US OPEN becomes no. 1 as well. My money and sympathies go towards Alcaraz, he simply has that something that makes you wanna cheer for him.
In second set Khachanov completely outclassed by Ruud with two serve breakers and Russian have three double faults look like he is going to lose his match in straight sets which could be never been ideal situation as most of the money was done on over which was good but his decline game and poor service giving impression he is already down and out from this match and most chances we are going to have final between Ruud vs Alcaraz as I have positive feeling about this player even Tiafoe is also in good touch but can't stand against this quality player who is going to be number one in next few days after winning this Grand Slam in style.

Already on the third set now, and Rudd is up two to nil. So my money on Ruud, he is becoming one of my favorite as well. As I also observed that he has improved a lot on hard court.

Yeah, lots of scenario and of course we had our favorite to go into the finals and I like the shown between Ruud and Alcaraz. Just let those two fight it out as who is to become the number 1 player.

In the second set it was a very easy win for Ruud. Third set goes without any serve breaker and the levels are equal 2-2. A server breaker is expected to take place soon. If not we can have the set to be same as the first one. However Ruud will have the advantage of playing his natural game whereas Khachanov will have the force to win the set.

For me it is still wierd if Ruud wins the us open and gets that first place. He isnt the material for first place with his gameplay but he is improving. Currently he is leading 1-2 against Khachanov and has an amazing chance to reach the final and book his place in the final

For now it looks like Khachanov have took the momentum, because every point is taken without much efforts. At the right time he made a break and won the set 7-5. The match have turned more interesting. I believe this set will be once again won by Khachanov as he have begun to play same as the second set.

Ruud managed to win against khachanov it was not a surprise even thought khachanov had a really good performance and result, making in it into the semi final of a grand slam is a really big deal unfortunatly for him he faced a player who is really consistant in his performance and results.

That was so solid, I would assume there are no questions left on the table if we don't consider who is missing. Now sure, Nadal was eliminated. We have seen incredible games like Tiafoe against Nadal and Tiafoe is confirming what he has been doing this tournament all the time. He is such a strong player.

Now against Alcaraz things become very very exciting. Against Alcaraz, wow. In my opinion Alcaraz is going to win that game because he knows how to attack Tiafoe's serve.

Why though? big 3 is already fading, it's time to look for replacement for them and it's fortunate that it could be Ruud to become the top player in the world right now.

And yeah he defeated Khachanov, and have a new title, "Ruthless" Ruud.

The match between Tiafoe and Alcaraz is on the final set, Alcaraz leading 2-0. Nail biting match, when we thought that the Australian Open is exciting, I think the US Open beat that one as far as game matches and excitement is concern.

It's going to be a fitting finale in the US Open, winner not just about to take the trophy and the title but being the world number 1 player as well.

Tiafoe's run has ended, he has a good string of victories and even force a 5th set. But Alcaraz is just too good and even at his young age, his mentality is very matured. So as I have expected, going 5 sets and then the over bet is good.

So this is going to be as exciting as we ca get into the finals in the US Open maybe in the last 5 years with no big 3 names.

-snip

not sure about Ruud taking no.1 spot, as far as ATP list shoes, Ruud win will lead to Nadal on no.1, and Alcaraz can get no.1, in case he wins

maybe I just do not know where to look

nevertheless, I expect Alcaraz to win, he is simply better player, although this is Ruud second GS final this year, and he has a bit more experience

I expected Ruud to struggle a bit more against Khachanov, he was on cruise control for the majority of the match. Alcaraz was also dominant against Tiafoe - although Tiafoe managed to prolong it by winning both tie-breaks.

Alcaraz will favor his chances in the final, they played each other twice and Ruud is yet to win a set. They played on hard recently in Miami - with Alcaraz winning the final 7-5 6-4.

Yeah, probably Alcaraz will be the favorite (haven't check sport bookies yet), but for sure might be Ruud will give Alcaraz problems as he had improved. Maybe 3 or 4 sets in this finals and a lot of amazing shots from both players.

And the same with the womens, Swiatek as the top seed, will be the favorite and definitely keep his number 1 rating as she is simply dominating the ladies side.

Alcaraz is the big favorite for the bookies; odds to win for Alcaraz are around 1.4 . Personally, I hope that Alcaraz can win the tournament, he is only 19 years old and one of the biggest talents so should be nice for him if he can take the title. It it too bad that Kyrgios is out as that would also have been a nice clash against Alcaraz.

BIG WINNER!

Alcaraz really went from being a great tennis talent to becoming a tennis champion very quickly.
Regardless of the outcome of the final, it's obvious that the future great tennis champion is ahead of us and that he will inherit the big three of world tennis.
His tennis development is truly incredible. A just few months ago, he was talked about as a great tennis hope, and he now already playing in the GS final.
It seems to me that even Nadal wasn't that good when he was his age. His mental strength is really something special and reminds me of Nadal.
For me he is also the favorite in the final.

His mental strength and overall game is indeed already very good but I wonder if he will be able to really dominate the field as Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have done? Nowadays, you have a lot of young top players (Ruud, Medvedev, Thiem, Kyrgios, Zverev, Sinner, ...) so the competition is extremely high.

BIG WINNER!

That was a great match between Tafoe and Alcaraz. tafoe won the first set but after that it was the Spaniard who set the tone. I thought it was strange that he let Tafoe come back so far after leading 2-1 in sets and also a break in the 4th set. Tafoe is also a player for the future, we have a lot of young tennis players at the moment who can play great. Tomorrow the final between Ruud and Alcaraz. Normally you would say that Alcaraz is the favourite, but Ruud already won a tournament on this surface and was already in the final at Gravel in Paris. So he did better than Alcaraz. I think a 50-50 match. The winner also immediately becomes the new number 1 in the world.

Was out all day so I did not have time to write here but I hope some of you have taken Swiatek to win today. Odds @1.6 for ML seemed like free money to me and I took  it on couple of tickets. She is currently leading 6:2 2:0 and even though Jabeur is playing good tennis she can't really put pressure on Swiatek. Hope it stays that way, usually when I write stuff like this match turns in an instant Smiley

Agreed about this comment, it's completely free money as Jabeur is not near her quality and giving her easy win with another Grand Slam with second lost in Grand Slam final for her which is still good as watching here game look like she can do good in near future as still need more experience for having win in Grand Slam events. But surely she deserves praise as she is doing amazing job in last few years with first Arab girl to be at this level and having good potential to reach do something amazing in future for their peoples which are waiting for good news from this great player in tennis.

After losing first set by 6 - 2, and she is completely outclass in second and look like going to lose by score of 6 - 0 as she is down and out.

Much easier win for Swiatek in the first set. As expected the momentum didn't stay with Swiatek. In the second set Jabeur tried the best to keep the match active and take it to the decider set. The set was interesting, and Jabeur wasn't able to keep up Swiatek within her play. Finally Swiatek won the set after consecutive points from both ending at 77-65

To answer Trofo, no I took Jabeur on a +4.5 handicap and she lost with a 5 game deficit.

The commentators on Amazon Prime were saying Jabeur was suffering from nerves, hence
the dismal result of the first set.

I think many people including the audience thought and wanted a "closer" match. Well done
to Swiatek though, as they said she is a brilliant front runner and that was the case.
