At least as fans, its going to be big this Christmas day, watching the games with your families and having some fun.
Even not on Christmas Day, and scheduled for other dates, Nets vs Lakers will still be big. At least they should give chance for the finalists the last Finals to play on Christmas Day as part of the recognization of their performance last season. Phoenix and Bucks fans at least expect that they will allow it happened but it turned out not. Maybe next time if one of them will reach the Finals again although I don't see Phoenix Suns will make it for the 2nd time consecutively. I guess it's different though, it's opening night, NBA needs viewership on the very special day, Christmas that's why they re-organised the schedule so that the two hottest team are going to face each other. The publicity will be there, all NBA fans around the world are going to tune in and might be seeing the NBA finals for all we know. And I don't think that Phoenix or Bucks should be upset, they will still play against each other.

NBA market update - Two teams are currently battling for a possible acquisition of Paul Millsap. I'm talking about Brooklyn and Golden State. The two teams would have expressed their interest in the 36-year-old. However, it seems to be a complicated operation for both of them. The Nets have 16 players on their roster at the moment and they already have Blake Griffin and James Johnson - or even KD - in that specific role. As for the Warriors, they have 13 players with guaranteed contracts. Nemanja Bjelica landed in the "Bay" this summer, but Millsap could add some skill to the bench.
Base on ESPN, the Warriors also have a 16 man roster already so if they will trade somebody for him them they might get him but if I will choose between the two teams I think the Warriors will be the one that will fit him. @cryptomaniac_xxx said that the Lakers are also interested on him. Let him join in the Lakers then so that the veteran and old players will be on the same team ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) . Maybe it would be better if the Lakers will make their roster right now a roster of aged 30 years old and above ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) .

Paul Millsap is already 35 years old, and his production has dropped already compared to his stats with the Atlanta Hawks, but his experience could help a championship-caliber team, so he will always fit in a team like the Nets or the Warriors. I would remember David West if he ends up playing with the Warriors.

Just watched the Jump, and interesting enough, the average age of Lakers currently is 31.8 and would be the oldest in NBA's history. They are also interested in getting Isiah Thomas, as rumours has been circulating in the last 48 hours. So it's very intriguing now that the Lakers becoming the oldest team in the NBA and yet they wanted to be a running team, with Westbrook and Lebron anchoring it.

I can also say the same, though I also seen this as a good marketing strategy either for the Nets alone or for the whole NBA bringing your chair up means you need to put your words into it. And that's very interesting, seeing him back with his old form back when he's with the Houston, playing with his two pals who are part of the tops scorers in this league. They needed to bring the hypes back and expect that those who oppose will also watch them out waiting for them to fail. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) That's where the money, gamblers that will bet against them and those haters that will be forced to watch PPV just to see them losing.. Hahaha.. But they don't really need that, right? They are indeed the favorites now and people are going to pay just to watch an All-Star caliber kind of game. Damn, I'd pay for it if I have the money or the chance to be in Brooklyn. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Although, when the season starts I might bet against them. We will see high differences in odds and handicaps will be far. I'd rather take the lower chance of with big profits than a high chance of low profits. They will be the super dogs this season.

And at that time, there were news that Kobe and Shaq has a rift already, specially the Lakers coming from a second round lost the previous seasons. As compare to today's Lakers, Lebron is the alpha, the older, so chances are he can control the other vets like Westbrook and Howard and even Carmelo.

Wonder how they hold up over an 82 game season and multiple levels of playoff series. Older tes barely ever win because legs after a season that long tend to break down. I bet you are going to see tons of "game management" where they sit a bunch. I don't think they get it done with that squad. I like the Suns again, and the Jazz are nothing to scoff at....and you also have Denver and clips. Hopefully Jamal Murray comes back to form. Nuts were a fun watch. Might take a long shot with them winning the chip this year.

Lebron would always want to be in control, he can even control the coach, I mean he gets what he wants, that's how superstar he is in a team. Some people hate him because of that, but that is the Lebron that we know from the very start and he also has proven himself that he can carry the team to the championship with his style.

Lebron is the Alpha, no doubt about it, and if everyone listens to him, there will be no problem because that's why the captain likes. The team is successful with him, therefore we can expect that the LA Lakers management has full trust in him. Just imagine, if Davis did not pair with Lebron, he would not win his first championship, so this is Westbrook's time now.

My favorite NBA player, Spurs will be a bit weird this year. Not that they will suck, it is the Spurs and we all know they will be mediocre even at the worst cases, last season was probably the worst year they had in the last 25 years or so. However the biggest salary in that team is 15.2 million with Dejounte Murray.
How many teams are out there with max salary at 15 million? I believe nearly every single team have their highest paid player at higher level, aside from that they also have a very good amount of cap space for the future as well if they want to, very short contracts with small amounts so it is easy to get out of them whenever they want to.
So, this season is a bit weird because I am not sure if they are trying to do something with the current core? Like Murray - White - Walker - Keldon - Poeltl is a damn good starting five if you ask me with the new additions of the past 2 seasons rookies and few other veterans that team looks fine, OR are they just trying to make a cap space to get some free agent stars in the following seasons? Not like we manage that easily, but that cap space wiggle room is certainly available for that if they can achieve it.

Greg Popovich is know to experiment different line up just like last year. So I think this season it will continue that way and we might see different players filling up positions like in the center. Jakob Poeltl is now the starting center, but they also added Jock Landale so we might see some switch along the season. Patty Mills is already gone, so Murray really need to step up his game as the starting point guard now. And then they have the options of Bryn Forbes to play as back up.

^ I haven't paid close attention to the development in Spurs since Manu, Tony, and Tim were gone. They had good replacements like LMA and that former Raptor but it never worked out.
The 15 million salary as the highest for their current players suggests that they haven't found the right pieces yet. The team management is not willing to commit anything big. I guess they are still in the experimental stage.

Dejounte Murray. There is one time I saw him play smoking hot. I think that was his career high and it was against the Lakers. Room for improvement is wide so I guess the Spurs management will be focusing on this young core and try to build a chemistry with them. Pops won't have any problem about it. He built Timmy to be a great player so I guess he could also do this with them and manage to position back in the playoffs. Celtics announce plans to retire Kevin Garnett's No. 5 jerseyOkay, that's cool. He is one of the dominant forwards of the league. Why not? T'Wolves days was his stepping stone until acquired by the Celtics in his prime.

Don't forget about the Kawhi experiment too, Pops was successful with it, until it went sour and Kawhi went to Toronto and the rest is history. Good to hear about the Celtics retiring KG's jersey. One of the best players we have seen in this generation. Straight out of high school (same with Kobe), he was as at his prime with T'Wolves, but it was with the Celtics that he really blossom to become part of the big 3 (Paul Pierce, Ray Allen).

^ I haven't paid close attention to the development in Spurs since Manu, Tony, and Tim were gone. They had good replacements like LMA and that former Raptor but it never worked out.
Yes, after their own version of the big 3 gets old and retire, it was supposedly Kawhi Leonard and Aldridge to continue the Spurs legacy. One of the most dominant teams together with that Lakers on that stretch. The 15 million salary as the highest for their current players suggests that they haven't found the right pieces yet. The team management is not willing to commit anything big. I guess they are still in the experimental stage.
They are really betting on finding a gem, just like in the previous years with Tim Duncan and Kawhi. But so far they haven't found one yet and it could still continue as a experimental process for Pops.

Leonard demanded to be traded, that's why the team was not able to develop a big 3. https://www.nba.com/news/report-kawhi-leonard-demands-trade-san-antonio-spursThat means he doesn't want to stay with the team and he had already won a championship back then in that team and won again with the Toronto Raptors. You know, Leonard is really talented as he doesn't need to form a super team to win a championship.

Where will you be this Christmas? The NBA has blessed us with a Nets vs Lakers Christmas Day game and I’m very happy. I don’t know exactly what I’ll be doing for Christmas this year, but it will likely include a couple hours in front of the TV grabbing a preview of this year’s NBA Finals matchup. I haven’t been this happy about a Christmas matchup since the old Shaq vs Kobe days.
The NBA is pretty awesome about this..Christmas day games that is. The Nets vs Lakers is going to be an awesome matchup! I just hope that everyone is healthy and there are no "excuses" as to why one team beats the other. Speaking of Christmas games and the old Shaq days..the first ever game I went to was on Christmas day when the Orlando Magic faced off vs the Chicago Bulls. I thought that MJ was playing, but this seems to say otherwise ( https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199312250CHI.html ). It's possible I'm thinking of a different year, but this seems about right. What I do remember from the game is watching Shaq and Anfernee Hardaway in their prime. Was a really fun first game, especially being that I got to see Shaq in his early days.

The most famous one was the locker room issue where Leonard is not happy with his teammates and so does his teammates with him. That is the time where Manu and Tony are still playing. Well, he got what he wanted so I guess there is no need to dig the grave. Leonard, I believe he can really boost one team even when just surrounded by roleplayers. I think what he did for the whole country of Canada speaks of it. Injuries are the only problem with this guy. Even with his massive body figure, he is always prone to injury.
