Can somebody explain why it would not be possible for words to be stolen when recovering from seed? Browser sends where you click on screen but how to be sure Trezor doesnt give up information back to browser? I am beaing a bit paranoid but I am not sure why people trust that this is ok interaction. Why don't you make on device recovery?

There is already on device recovery for Trezor for 3 months now.

Hi!

I am not sure if this is the main Trezor thread or not, but as it is about Trezor I will post here.

Yesterday I received my first Trezor. I've had Ledger Nano S for several months but I was so incredibly happy with the purchase that I decided I also had to try the "original".

I will give it some more time just in case the fail is on my, but I am VERY dissapointed with the purchase when I compare it with my ledger.

First, I don't know if its my unit that is faulty or if all Trezors share the same problem, but the screen refresh is too slow. At first I was noticing some strange feelig when looking at the screen, not sure what was it... just that it feeled uncomfortable. After some tests, and recording on a camera it is obvious that the screen refresh is extremely slow. Is this a problem of my unit or anyone else have noticed the same?

Second, the password manager is the main function I decided to order a Trezor even if I was more than happy with my ledger. But it just plain doesn't work on the few sites I have tried. Well, it does work on some uninportant ones, but the main ones I want it to work have some or another problem:

- Kraken: It just says "Couldn't find login form. Sorry!".
- Poloniex, it seems to find the form fields, but after submit it always says invalid captcha.

Third, I feel like it is way better the method of pin entry of the ledger. ALso it times out too often AND the browser plugin asks again for the pin but the screen just displays the locks and not the pin grid, so I need to disconnect and reconnect the USB. Really?

Fourth, The device itself feels like much cheaper and worse quality than the ledger. I am VERY worried that the screen could be damaged in the pocket alonside coins/keys/etc.... Maybe it's ok, but the overall feel is like if it was a five eur toy or countrfeit from china.

I will keep testing it and its other functions as a wallet but if someone can point me out some solution for my problems (the screen refresh and the password manager) or tell me if my unit is somehow faulty I would very glad.

Thanks!

@bitserve your experience is not normal. Either you have a defective unit out of the box or there is a problem with the Trezor communicating with your computer. Try using different cables first. Also you should open a help ticket at https://satoshilabs.kayako.com/ and also post your problems at /r/Trezor on Reddit.

You mean the screen refresh problem? It is not that much noticeable so that's why I am doubting if it is a faulty display or maybe that's how it is.

The other issues I guess it's just how it is.... unless someone can confirm the password manager does work with kraken and poloniex. If it works I would like to know what I am doing wrong in the configuration.

I will try to get used for a couple of days in case it is my mistake. Anyway, except the display thing I don't think the rest of issues is a faulty unit but just how it is.

About the cable I am using the one of the ledger because the trezor one is too short, but I don't think I am having any communications issue.

I have been able to use the password manager with several sites, I just cant get it to work with Kraken and Poloniex, which are two of the most important for me.t

My stingy ass just bought a Trezor wallet today. Reason that I waited so long is because my BTC holdings are only like 1.3 BTC. My BTC holdings have never exceeded 3 BTC. However, gone are the days that my mini-BTC holding just doesn't justify purchasing a hardware wallet. 0.07 BTC for my purchase, today compared to the .50 BTC it would have cost back in 2015, seems very reasonable. I didn't realize Trezor had a password manager. I'll have to check it out when I get it.

Yes, It does have a password manager, something Ledger doesn't have. After some more intensive testing I have found out that it does work in about half of the sites I do use. It will save me some time, but I hope the pasword manager function (which is an exclusive feature of Trezor) will get more polished in the future and, at least, work on all major cryptocurrency related websites.

If only the password manager function worked flawlessly it would be enough reason to have one even if not into cryptocurrencies.

Not on Trezor yet, only Ledger Nano S. Official Ledger shop says if you order now they are not shipping until September 2. You can still find Nano S for jacked up prices on Amazon. I wouldn't pay the $200 plus sellers are asking for.

Ledger also have a password manager, it's in beta, is a different phylosophie, but is quite clever Wink you can restore passwords from seed has long as you keep labels Wink

and device restoration is 100% on device. I have both ledger and Trezor  Wink Don't use anymore the Trezor for Wallet, but will maybe try the password manager Wink

I can sell it maybe if Trezor first edition is valuable, have no idea, make an offer if interested Wink

Do you have any source where I can find more information about that alpha password manager for ledger nano s? Or maybe you are referring to FIDO U2F?

I haven't really tried Trezor as a wallet yet. It seems that the web app only supports BTC and for anything else it requires the installation of some standalone app. I am on Linux.

Anyway, the wallet function of the Trezor I only needed as a backup to my Ledger as I am more than happy with how it works. But I wanted the Trezor for the password manager... Have anyone else been able to use the Trezor password manager on Kraken and Poloniex? If so, could you share how did you configure it to work with those sites? Thanks!

$200? Wow, that more than double its regular price. Maybe I should be investing in reselling hardware wallets instead of buying coins lol

sure. it's on ledger manager under develloper items

it's also on their github
https://github.com/LedgerHQ/blue-app-password-manager

Thx. It looks like it's not only in alpha but I would have to compile it myself... I think I will wait until BETA or something.

It's interesting that it makes the ledger act as a HID (Keyboard)... Maybe someone should do a ledger APP that mimics a "Rubber Ducky" for extra value Smiley

It seems that both Trezor and Ledger wallets are sold out atm and on preorder. It's no wonder, and since I tried my first hardware wallet I knew everyone needs to have one. It is probably the best development that have hapened for cryptocurrencies for the past years. The only one that really gives you full control over your assets whilst being secure and convenient.

And if things like this password managers keep evolving they will be a must-have for EVERYONE.

You can still get a white Trezor with a weeks delay direct from Trezor. The only other hardware wallet ready to ship looks like Digital Bitbox, which is a nice, no frills bitcoin only hardware wallet from Core developer Jonas Schnelli.

I just got my trezor today and it's awesome. trezor is an extremely good hardware wallet since it's been around for a lot longer than others and has a superb reputation. I believe trezors source code and is based off of keep key, so in that way they should be pretty equal in terms of security.

You got it backwards:) Trezor was first. KeepKey forked Trezor open source code; it is a Trezor clone under the hood. Sure they added some new code, but without Trezor there would be no KeepKey. Ledger developed their own smartcard based hardware wallets that do not use Trezor code.

Is there anyway to sign a LTC message if it was sent using Segwit from Trezor?

Would it as a last resort be possible to export the private seed and find out the Legacy adress it was sent from?
