I am little unsure whether i should chose ledger or trezor. I suppose this is a question most people ask before buying this stuff. I have come across some articles where people talk about security bugs of trezor, but i am not an expert so i can´t really say if it is true or false information. There is also a small price difference between these two products. So i ask those who have some techical knowledge and experience, what really makes trezor better than ledger?

I am using the Trezor. Trezor had 1 security-thing, but only if you had physical access to it. And its fixed with the actual firmware. So - no problems anymore.

If I understand your question correctly then what you need to do is get the next receive address from your Trezor and transfer the coins from your Exodus Wallet to the Trezor wallet.

But I may not have understood.

Thats my second options.

First option would be to use seed key and recover that on my TREZOR, then i dont need to create another address.

I am not sure if that is possible with combination Trezor/Exodus ?

So you are asking if you can take the seed words from your Exodus and enter them into your Trezor and recreate your accounts on the Trezor.

I do not know the answer to that question but I do know that is not a secure method of transfer.

Good luck.

Would someone please write up a BIP for the SegWit signature algorithm implemented in Trezor and discussed here:

https://github.com/trezor/trezor-mcu/issues/169

So that we can kick start the process of having this become the industry standard algorithm for signatures based on SegWit addresses.

I am sorry but I do not have the time to write it up right now.

Thanks!

so, these things really work?

I'm a bit suspicious, I've had plenty of little electronic gadgets take a shit over the years for no real reason

also, what about badusb? https://www.wired.com/2014/10/code-published-for-unfixable-usb-attack/

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.

Can I use it for a cold bitcoin wallet? What is the principle of cryptography used in this device? How with  protection against hacking?

I've been using my trezor since right after release and it has held up really well with zero signs of wear of any kind. It even feels like a really high quality product when you hold it in your hand and manipulate it. So A+ from me.

*edit* I should mention though that I don't unplug and replug it from the usb port on the trezor. I leave a short usb cord attached at all times because I know how those ports tend to wear out on every device. So I can not attest to that particular aspect.

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

do not type the seed into any device. write it with a pen on paper. several times. store at different locations and NOT where your trezor is stored.

Note that the seed itself is sufficient to steal all your bitcoins. Storing it away from trezor does not help.

what i wrote was meant to prevent the situation that a fire/flood destroys a house/apartment/room - if the trezor and the seed get destroyed there is no recovery possible.

edit: i recall a user who had placed his hw wallet on a desktop computer that cought fire. the poor guy had kept the seeds on paper on top of that same computer. all was gone.

Don't know how smart that can be.
It is electronic device. Any electronic device can be broken.
So why not just on USB drive?
It's almost the same, but without extra protection.
But as idea is safe and "in your pocket", then I chose USB.

The trezor digitally signs the transaction on the device. You can not do this with just a usb drive. You would have to import the private key onto a machine like a computer that is not designed with this type of security in mind. The trezor has an extremely narrow interface which only recognizes a hand full of very specific and limited function calls.

As far as every electronic device can be broken. This is false. It sounds like something you would hear in a hollywood movie about hackers. Any given device probably has some sort of vulnerability but not necessarily.
