I'm in both camps, Ethereum and Bitcoin. I can envisage the utility of both. Bitcoin and a storage of wealth and Ethereum as the world computer fulfilling smart contracts, etc. What I don't understand is why the diehards Bitcoin fanatics cannot see this. The Bitcoin community cannot even decide on changing one digit for gods sake. Ethereum seems to have more authority and leadership guiding it to its goal. Long may it last.

Well said! But what do you want, many here are stupid anarcho fatasses fanboys with neckbeards that think Bitcoin is good and the rest is evil, kinda like Marvel vs DC in their nerdy fantasies.

Same goes for many Bitcoin developers, that's why Hearn left, he wasn't stupid. I'm not saying Bitcoin is doomed because it's not, it may even have a much better future now that it knows what it is, digital gold, not a payment system (which anyone with a brain knew since hearing about it). No woman or average non-tech savvy person will adopt it ever. But as a investment tool or commodity that you move around once in a while it can have a huge appeal.

Wow... Increasing by a dollar+ a day is huge, surpassing Litecoin even more.  It has a strong backing and since it's gpu based many larger companies won't hop in.

Let's put it simply that way: If you think of Bitcoin as a decentralized version of Microsoft Excel, then Ethereum is a decentralized Excel where we’ve made the visual basic macros functional.

Ethereum is a programming language that lives on top of a "blockchain"—a concept invented six years ago with the launch of Bitcoin. Bitcoin was the original blockchain. It was meant to be "the proof of concept" from satoshi nakamoto. However, Bitcoin has a very limited scripting language that allows it to check if transactions are in the proper format and other things. Ethereum wants to replace that simple scripting language with a much more powerful turing complete language.

So basically the big banks and Microsoft aren't really using the same Ethereum blockchain that we are using now? They just copied the Eth blockchain and are using it privately?

Doesn't make sense why ETH will go up then since they aren't actually promoting the coin.

Honestly ive been into Bitcoin for years but the jargon that is used to describe what is going on with Ethereum and Blockchain and Microsoft is very hard to grasp.

I really like the idea of Ethereum and the sheer endless possibilities it creates. You could say I value Ethereum highly for what it can be.

But I'm unable to grasp the reason why the tokens should have a high price for Ethereum to work? The tokens are used to run the DAPPs, right? Do the DAPPs run better when the tokens are more expensive?

Sounds like justifications i used to hear from nocoiners about how bitcoin shouldn't really have a high price. It is what it is. The price is the price.

The dapps are unaffected by the price of ETH because the computation is geared internally by "gas" so whatever the price of ETH the dapps work as coded

The price right now is pure speculation as we can't really quantify how much one Ether cost. However, keeping in mind that there's "only" 72 million (I know there will be more each year) and considering the potential it has to actually be adopted and used (unlike Bitcoin, which 99% of the population doesn't own or care about) then you can infer that 1 Ether should have a relative high value if that makes sense.

Imagine if institutions and companies around the world (like Microsoft and Reuters in recent news) start developing dapps and using Ethereum blockchain. All this massive platform require fuel to work, and Ether being divisible like Bitcoin, well then, I'm not saying it should cost $10, $100, $1000 or more but if Bitcoin went to $1300 with such a bad name and minuscule user base then anything can happen.

It appears that ETH chart is about to print another green bar on the daily.  Looks like wise people are putting their BTC in to Ethereum right now.

If it breaks the 0.024, we can say that. But now, we will have to wait. The price of bitcoin did not drop in Dollars.

Well, the daily chart is a green bar right now.  The price of bitcoin is irrelevant.

to be honest thats the way i use bitcoin and i always used it for that reason, as some kind of internet gold. i know its not what it was suppose to be but making btc the number 1 payment method seems so far fetched. but useing it to store wealth ? works fine even now Smiley

At this exrate anyone with a graphics card should be mining ETH.  So tempted to go round 3 with GPU miners.

I hope ETH kills all the useless altcoins.

Lots of Titans are up for sale in the marketplace; that's a strong vote of no confidence for LTC.  Grin

ETH will kill the useless altcoins.  There is no room anymore in the market for useless coins.

At least Monero will survive. It is anonymous coin, and can be used by the people who are concerned about their privacy.

The Ethereum price is rising fast. There is no good consolidation for the price. Are they whales so confident?

0.03 hit Shocked

By my estimates, we should be looking for a pullback within the next day at some point above 0.032. I'd expect 25%+.

Results from that will be critical in determining Eth's direction, for no other alt has ever survived a retrace above a billion mcap. Will Eth be the first to conquer that mountain? Interesting times.

Although we both have been following this for some weeks now and so far I can say my predictions were correct, I must agree with you that right now I'm feeling scared since we are entering the "paradigm" shift of every bubble if this is what it is. The recent spike is just too sharp to be sustainable even by crypo standards. I mean for me it's all good and extremely profitable but we are entering unknown territories.

I have like 75% of my portfolio in Ethereum and the rest in BTC but I will be willing to buy more ETH as soon as I see a drop, it just doesn't seem to stop, I think I've missed the under 10 USD window...

Hedge funds are buying because they know the price of ETH will skyrocket when Augur quickly becomes the world's biggest sportsbetting platform.
