ETH is already recovering a little bit, I think you could've bought that red line to 950k,...I admit I picked some, to me that's the trendline before the Dao and I couldn't help myself. Like many we are all waiting to get ETH at $3-5. I suspect we will never see that, not even in a flash crash but stranger things have happened.
I thought it recovered but price is now back to below $8- even despite small upward trend we noticed today.
What is happening is people selling ETH to buy bitcoin because of the news about China and India is banning gold trading/export.

I think the price will only recover when there is no more attack on the Ethereum network when it become very robust.
But it may take a lot of the time, no one knew when the upcoming fork for the ethereum network.

that is right. But if there is another big attack on the Ethereum network, there will be another hard fork.

Finally seeing some volume...

This could be the cause: https://twitter.com/tensorjack/status/806084099202945024

If this is true (at least partially) then a huge bounce can happen with so many shorts in the .009 and .01 area...

There are lots of shorts now. The interest rate in the Poloniex is 0.25% per day now. That is quite a lot of interest.

Yeah, I saw that. I wouldn't ascribe too much of ETH's fall to just that one guy, but 760K is certainly a possible bottom for now.

Not to worry too much about the Eth price. It is rising at the moment. It is 0.0115 bitcoin, almost 15% from yesterday.

That's a pretty endless list with plenty of smart people working hard on various promising projects, that alone tells you why Ethereum has value, because innovation gathers the smartest people possible. Ethereum barely has one year under its belt, its price is based on potential alone.

Bitcoin has more than 5 and we are still quite not sure what it does, now it's digital gold and not a currency any more. Still hasn't catch on either. Both can transfer value quickly (Ethereum quite faster) though, just like many other coins o cryptocurrencies.

To me, the bitcoin is both digital gold and a kind of currency. I invest in the bitcoin and also use it to buy things.

Except it doesn't make sense at all, it's cool of course to be able to buy stuff but what problem solves for the average consumer or company? Nothing. No business can be built on it because of its volatility, it's only used for speculation and hoarding.

Now in the future if businesses would actually use its blockchain (which it is its main value imo) and start adding services, registries, data into it and turning BTC or ETH into a huge database, then the value would be astronomical, every single satoshi or wei could count. A decentralized, bulletproof, globalized database/server.

Interesting pattern emerging with ETC. If it's pumped up further it could start a positive feedback loop with ETH and cause another dump.

ETC is just a pump and dump coin at present. It needs to do more to be a proper coin.

I don't care about it being a proper coin or not, I only care about effects.

In the long run, not in the short run.  These waves can be tempestuous.

Lol! Well I bought the previous dip at 700k, I'm very cautious now but I would still pick up some more really, long term of course. The only thing that works right now is shorting all alts or longing BTC...

But I think we can all agree this won't last much longer, I called BTC top at $850 some weeks ago, it already passed that. I'm sure the dump is around the corner.

You really shouldn't be so sure imho. We've overcome major resistance, and the chart suggests new ATH is quite possible. Let the trend be your friend as they say.
