Thanks very much for the server list but I think I will just use the web wallet. I've been having trouble with desktop wallets failing and becoming inaccessible. Web wallets are risky too, but seem to have less problems. With Dogecoin's desktop wallet for example it had an error and refused to load again after that, despite the fact it was syncing the blockchain from the bootstrap.

for the desktop wallets...   did you try uninstalling and reinstalling
then moving your wallet.dat back into it, from your backup.  (you do have a backup right?)

any time i have had an error with any wallet, thats fixed it.
bad dl, bad update whatever.   Mines mostly been with BTC wallets.

I just found out about Vergecoin, apparently it used to be Dogecoin Dark and is based on DASH: https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/xvg/overview/BTC

Does that mean Vergecoin has masternodes or no? I haven't seen any mention of them?

I want to make the world better than I found it

no, we are not based on dash at all. we use i2p and tor (ip obfuscation), not masternodes (centralization),

and we're multi algorithm PoW (x17, scrypt, blake2s, lyra2rev2, myr-groestl), instead of just x11 Proof of Work.

Ah ok thanks very much for clearing that up. So was Vergecoin ever DogecoinDark? Was that website just way off? If so this project kind of looks cool. How is the privacy and anonymity compared to Monero?

yes, dogecoindark rebranded and became verge. we use different techniques than monero. both are anon when used correctly.

And this next update is anon by default as I understand. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. No setup.

next release will have ip obfuscation built in. that is correct.

just a friendly reminder, there's good reasons we don't list yobit as an xvg exchange.

do not use yobit. if you do, you will eventually have coins go missing or something, and you aren't going to get help.

This coin has made a lot of progress so far.

Some things I like about it:

1. Tor friendly, and appealing to the anonymity-conscious
2. Online, web and phone wallets
3. Many algo choices for mining
4. Active and capable dev
5. Its on Cryptopia
6. Released not too long ago (Feb 2016)
7. Cool, marketable name
8. Bunch of other things, as you can see listed in the OP
9. Wasn't premined... right?

What I don't like currently:

1. Block chain bloat kills usability of desktop wallet.
2. Web wallet 2 factor auth doesnt work (can't be enabled or anything else). Web wallet has a very bare bones design and seems incomplete. Not a satisfactory alternative to desktop wallet.
3. I hate political correctness as much as the next guy, but if the dev used correct capitalisation and was a bit more 'diplomatic' in his social network commenting it would help him to be seen as more professional and serious. Thankfully he is relatively reserved compared to some other devs.
