IS there any benefit for long-term Verge holders?

I mean, something like stake/masternodes/harvest/fees/revenue

Can I actually gain something from keeping XVG's on my wallet?

fees are collected by miners. as far as centralized masternodes, that is a weakness and we don't plan on implementing something like that.

you don't gain from keeping xvg in your wallet, but you do gain from mining one of our 5 algorithms. we are not a PoS coin, if that's what you are asking.

Hey there,

I'd like to ask, how i can store my verges safe offline apart from the paper wallet. Is there a way to store them on a hardware device?

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Phanti

paper wallet is probably the safest option for any crypto. we are working on a hardware wallet, and will be adding it to our roadmap within the next 2 weeks

speaking of, we are going to be taking down our clearnet web wallet, because we prefer users own their coins, instead of leaving them on the site.

we will leave the tor and i2p web wallets up however.

we'll wait until the end of july to take the clearnet site down.

Looking forward to the hardware wallet, makes me curious.

Agree on paperwallet, safest for any coin. Make it super-safe with a cryptosteel , this way your paperwallet will survive fire, water or any other disaster  Grin

Nope, exchange wallets not safe as you think, also all online wallets!

Paper wallet with "BIP38 passphrase" is the safest option for verge (Right now)

Why exchange wallets not safe?!
1. exchanges can't stop getting hacked
2. may goes out of business (Suddenly)!

exchange wallets for trading only, So (For verge) paper wallet is the best option, then electrum wallet then core wallet, then coinomi wallet

Verge dev's recent interview with Ameer and some Pivx guys has made me curious about which coins are actually the best for privacy.

For complete privacy (ring signatures, IP anonymity) it seems Monero and Aeon are the winners, right?

For ledger transparency, but IP anonymity, Verge is the best, right?

As for Pivx, is its only distinguishing privacy feature Obfuscation?

There is/was also ShadowCash, it has ring signature but not sure about IP anon. Its developers seem to have moved on to working on a social and marketplace platform.

Anyone got more info and insights about these or other coins?

any chance the supply will get a cut in the future, i think what is holding back this wonderful coin, is the immense supply, if it can be reduced to million instead of billion would be better imho, i know it require a hard fork but its worth the risk

First I want to say our Dev Team is doing a Top Notch Job - keep it up!

Your suggestion needs to be analyzed.  At this point the space has gone into "Hyperspeed" and we need dramatic and intentional moves.  "Coin Reduction" would be a BIG MOVE; raising scarcity would increase value.

I would add that adding PoS immediately would be of great benefit as well.  It's hard to park your cash in a coin that doesn't pay dividends for holding while almost all other coins that share our objectives are providing STAKING incentives.  For the holder Staking represents some assurity during the inevitable "Pumps and Dumps" plus it provides a double incentive of value:  The rise in coin value (XVG $1.00) + the Staking Dividend.  For Hardware Miners it becomes a triple incentive if they choose to hold what they mine.

This is definitely a race, so reminiscent of 1999 with another emerging technology at that time.  I know by these suggestions we're asking a lot from the Devs but I strongly feel we have a strong community willing and able to support our Team in whatever is necessary.

So, Coin Reduction + PoS = Rise in Coin Value

Btw, Coin Reduction becomes very meaningful when RSK is implemented.

nice sum up, thanks, so what is this RSK, a new feature for this coin? surely it come with great features which make me look forward to this project, but something is holding this coin back

Yes to all of this.
This is not happening and it's a dumb choice on many levels. Dev has already discussed this. Read the post history before telling Dev what he should do. It's really assuming, naive, big headed, and annoying.

correct. i am not going to hard fork to take away users coins. that's absurd.

you would not take away what users have now, you woudl take away what the miners will mine in the future, none will lose anything

80%+ have already been mined, so we're not going to just cut off the remaining 20%. i can consider making the rewards smaller, although its only making 1,560 coins per block at this point, and we're already more than halfway through the second to last halving. last halving occurs in less than 1million blocks.

oh well you have a point if already 80% is mined and on circulation, i guess nothign can be done anymore, at best you can cut that 10%, but i doubt will make any difference

monero and aeon do not provide user ip anonymity.

pivx does not either.

shadowcash sort of did, but that project was abandoned.

i agree. i think paper wallet is safest for long term storage (created offline), and then electrum/core wallet.

To clarify

So Monero and Aeon are good for ledger privacy, and no wallet balance reveal, but you would still need to hide your IP?

Pivx has ledger privacy/obfuscation only through using CoinJoin, but you still need to hide your IP. Right? Not sure about wallet balance reveal.

And Verge has IP privacy (although you should still hide it), but ledger transparency and wallet balance reveal. Right?

you dont need to hide it with us. our resources do that. some of our resources are located on i2p and tor, like our electrum wallets/servers, web wallets, our new android wallet, etc. but ledger transparency, yes.

mainstream adoption cant occur without ledger transparency. plus, with ledger transparency, people can see that nothing is shady going on with distribution, etc, and retailers can easily look up and verify transactions from customers.

we're making real privacy easy, unlike our competition.

Hello, I've brought this out once.
The prohashing block explorer does not reflect the actual balance.
The balance I have at DRQzMiThNaSsUEok8Nos8gKDKuQGyBCkTu is not reflected by the block explorer. The current balance I can see through the web wallet is 4.88..., while the balance indicated at prohashing is 0. The transactions listed by prohashing are not real.
Can aomeone address this? I guess this is something important.
If this is some geek stuff, please explain. It makes no sense to me.

Use Binance for day trading, and for buying-and-holding blockchain assets. Exchange fee is only 0.1%.

Can we retire the rest of the clearnet resources, Dev? Even if one user uses obfuscation there's no way to know if the wallet he's sending to is also using obfuscation. It would seem the most secure bet is to remove this option for all users.

that's the plan. to phase out all clearnet resources over the next quarter =]

The Crypto Syndicate has chosen XVG as a coin to move on. Large stores of XVG have been accumulated.

Thank you dev for creating and supporting a solid project. We look forward to future releases and success. They are crucial.

We work partially on a social basis. Help us and spread the word of XVG through all social platforms.

Hello guys,

I downloaded the Window Wallet.

But I do not see any paraphrase or password

Can someone walk me through this ?

I downloaded Verge Wallet and just unzipped and a nice beautiful wallet came up.

Do'nt I need a password for this ?

I see there is a "Change Paraphrase" and "Unlock" Wallet option in the settings Menu.

But how do i know my current paraphrase. I did not click on those options yet

you can encrypt the wallet using a password, just dont forget it, or you wont be able to use your coins until you remember. (encrypt wallet is under the first menu tab "File")

if you use the electrum wallet, it is backed up by a seed phrase.
