....

Lower the clock to 625 run for a day see what happens.

I have five of these  they all like lower clocks.

My take on that board is it wants a lower clock .

Now it could be the 2880 breakout board is failing and you should measure every  pcie jack.

Good points.
I will move it to another PSU and see how it acts for a few hours and then if no change I will downclock it to 625.
So many different directions which were possible to go, but these do sound like the best of the lot.

Thanks Phil

Transaction fees go to the pools and the pools decide to pay them to the miners. Anything else, including off-chain solutions are stealing and not the way Bitcoin was intended to function.
Make the block size set by the pool. Pool = miners and they get the choice.

Looks like Batch 5 of the S9 is done (i.e. Grey BUY button). Apparently the moniker of "Limited Edition" was accurate!  Smiley

They will often grey out the button if the USD/BTC/CNY price moves too much, and will update the price multiple times daily if necessary.

You are probably right they are sold out, still took longer to sell them than I would have expected. Hopefully this means the batch 6's will have another decent drop in price.

Always hashing for the community. Oh, and dollars.

Hey hey,

maybe someone can help - what kind of silent-fans do work with the s9 ?
I have several fans here (max speed 2200) .. but the s9 wont start mining with them - maybe to less speed ?
SO i mounted the original airplane-turbines again to the miners .. but the noise is terrible ..

Default Frequency reduction from 600MHz to 550MHz. They must be selecting ASIC's / Hash Boards and setting appropriate Core Voltages and Frequencies.

Going to either stay the same, or go down slightly imo. Why make an 18TH/S miner when you can sell an 11.85TH/S miner for the exact same amount? They're going to take the path of least resistance and make a weaker miner just because they can. They could even use less ASIC chips on the board and clock it higher just to save money, nobody knows at this point. if there's going to be an 18 TH/S miner, it's going to be a new model.

I am planning for 2 x S9 purchase

just having a doubt, few are saying that mining wont be profitable after halving

Is it true?

Most profit depends on your expenses. Like your electricity cost? Are you running it in your house, if so its going to be hot and you may need more cooling, etc etc. But I still think its profitable. I just purchased my first S9 and plan to get more soon. The efficiency is there and I am in a good spot for electricity.

Does AC is required for more cooling or table fan would be enough for 2 x S9?

Planning to run it for 24x7

The S9 B3 I have seems to run a couple degrees cooler than my S7's in the same environment, keep in mind the S9's also use a 6000RPM fan on the front so they can certainly be louder.

Yup, 2.77 is definitely less than 3.05. Never said it was a better value.

Only a fool pays full price at 2+ BTC for the next batch, with halving in the next 5 days. Bitmain will have to drop S9 price by 50% right after the halving. But stupidity and greedy go hand in hand.

Well -- DHL failed to meet their Friday delivery -- however, they did manage a 4th of July delivery to try and make up for it...

It seems like everything is running fine!!!

Aside from the S4+, this must be the slowest antminer thread ever. Guess a lot of people have moved on.

Yeah with the halving I imagine that it is much harder for any chance of return even with really cheap electric rates.  They would need to drop the price by half for me to even consider getting one with my rates.

My B45 order of S9s has hit the United States.  I've been buying miners from Bitmain since the S3, and this is the first time I've had DHL tell me I owe import taxes. Apparently the message is coming DHL Canada, perhaps because its the 4th of July Holiday here in the USA?   I tried calling Customer Support, which is suppose to be open, but got routed to an old DHL Canadian telephone that told me to update my phone records and call 1-855-DHL-SHIP - very strange.

Anybody else having problems today?

Why would they drop the price? The halving? Nah. They'll drop the price when there is competition from another company. Welcome to monopoly pricing power. If you want to mine with the latest generation of chips, then the S9 is the only publicly available option right now. There are rumors of other current gen chips, but not generally available.

Cheers,

- zed

edit: added available

No mining at the moment.

DHL showed up today, the 4th of July, with my 2 power supplies, and confirmed my B5 S9s were sitting in the warehouse (well, at least one of them the carrier actually laid eyes on) awaiting import duty payment.

I've been reading this and other threads and apparently duty varies from $10 to $50ish per unit, I had to pay $138 for two units in Missouri - which seems excessive.
