Introducing the Grothendieck Team

IOHK is nearly finished with its vetting and onboarding process for our development team (Known as the Grothendieck team) we have committed to Ethereum Classic. Carlo will provide more details early next week about the team and we hope to get some of them on Let' Talk ETC after they've had a chance to review all relevant documentation to discuss the roadmap and development timeframe for 2017 for ETC.
In the meantime, we'd love to get to know more about how the community would like to interact with and get reports from the new ETC developers. Please post ideas and requests here. The Grothendieck team will be first building a Scala client for ETC based on our Scorex framework (see https://github.com/ScorexFoundation/Scorex).
Thanks everyone for your patience and we look forward to building great things together.

I have made registered on ethereumclassictalk.org , but it was gone. Do you have plan to make forum for ETC's comunity? I think it will be nice because the comunity has website except use other website.

nub question, yet hope ull answer Wink

I have started mining for the first time, seems right.
I chose ETC to start, with a single msi 7970 twin frozr and get 12.1 m/h.
Is this ok or should i tweak it?

I got another r9 280 and will point it also at it, but thats for later :X

Thanks!

Get 50+ more gpus or its really not worth it.

Now you make what? 0,5 $ a day?

Edit:
Investing in new gpus today is risky, as ROI has been crashing hard. You might even not hit green ever if you invest in gpus today.

Profitability has crashed hard across the board for everything and is still falling like a ROCK.  There isn't a safe haven at the moment in any of the alts.  Bitcoin is holding up so far, but that remains to be seen if it will continue.  Like others have stated investment in GPU's at the moment is questionable given the current risk/reward situation.

There is the real possibility if things keep going this direction with pricing that there won't be anything that is profitable in a few weeks and people will start shutting down rigs.  If that happens you might be able to start picking up some GPU's for a discount as people start selling off rigs and the market will be flush with GPU's for sale.  Again you would have to gauge your willingness to take risk in a falling market.

What is causing this drop for ETH/ETC as of late? Are there any news that I have somehow missed, or is it just the market correcting itself to BTC?

Just feels like it has been such a downhill trend lately,, I'm still holding ETC and I'm not worried short-term, but yeah.. Just thought I'd ask in here anyways.

Some hacker has hacked somebody's account and is selling the ETH. So the ETH price has dropped quite a lot.

Someone hacked Bo Shen from Fenbushi Capital (early supporter of both Augur and Ethereum), stole his ETH and REP, and dumped it. [1/]

My suggestion would be to opt out of energy waste for more efficient and less power consumptive means for nailing gains. If ure looking to churn out a few dollars at this very moment u can do it thru mining but better start earning ur way up via investing in alts. U will go slow at first, playing with lesser amounts will guide u thru trading tips and tricks (there are many, which makes professionals learn 10-20 years before they advance their asses high enough to be able to retire under 35, if they dont commit suicide). By learning the basic principles of risk management, u will probably make a lil bit more than what u expect from mining alts. Trades will go better and easier. If u wanna get used to this sapce, u can mine for a little while and, when u are ready, switch to trading. 0.5 $ or 50 $ a day is far from close to what a dilettante schoolboy makes in average on a fewer % of their total trades.

Weird worded tweets disseminate the misinformation, always happens. How come Bo Shen dude own millions of eth and what that lie spreading crook means by social engineering of phone carriers?

Quote
se social engineering of cell-phone carriers to get your phone number, then if you have a recovery phone number enabled in your email

U can s/engineer a single dude, jack his facebook profile or twitter account of his step-brother but u have no chance to access the infos phone carrier officials have. How do u imagine this? U invade their office, put a barrel on them and say: gimme Bo Shen's phone number. They would call the ambulance or point to the door at best. Without further fact checking I wouldnt trust that bullshit tweet.

Congratulations to developer @jan______ on getting hired for IOHK's Scala Client for $ETC. Ethereum Classic is growing slowly but surely.
That was last updated by official ethereum classic on Twitter.

Hackers Stole Over $300k From a Blockchain VC Today (And Attacks May Continue)
http://www.coindesk.com/hackers-stole-300k-blockchain-investor/

its true, verizon let this happen to me a few days ago... @cryptoe1337
i even called into customer service ( i wish more people will try this) and tell them " i am a person who is attacking your customers and stealing millions of dollars and i want to tell you how i am doing it so you can prevent it." just to see there response,  the lady told me "we have no security team, all i can do is transfer you to fraud." fraud proceeds to tell me the same things, and transfer me to customer service...
this is unbelievable . please somebody else try this. you can tell them you are going to take millions and customer support wont even listen to you... what a joke
verizon has no specialized security team, for extreme cases, nor any other cell company apparently. embarassing in this digital age.
and my pleas to help them change to prevent this...they dont even listen and act like im lieing to them. that nobody is really losing money. its messed up
the problem is, that cell companys dont realize, is what if they get into bank accounts next, how fucked are the cell companies? these ppl tried to use my amazon to order stuff, aswell as get in paypal, and buy bitcoin through my bank on circle. just wait until banks get involved, these cell companies are screwed
