If ethereum classic decides to fork, it won't survive very long. It is already wobbling, barely standing as it is.

It depends on the type of the hard fork. If it is for the good of the whole network, it will certainly survive.

Ethereum Classic Divided Over the Proposed Hardfork

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/ethereum-classic-divided-proposed-hardfork/

https://www.reddit.com/r/EthereumClassic/comments/57ipia/statement_on_the_hardfork_to_address_spam_attacks/

Hi everyone,

Very busy day for statements it seems but the silver lining I suppose is that lots of activity is much much better than no activity. My feed has been filled with some misconceptions by outside a parties about this protocol improvement so I wanted to state the following:

- This is a protocol improvement.
- This protocol improvement is very much aligned with our principles of immutability.
- We have stated since day 1 that protocol improvement is 100% acceptable.
- The discussions taking place are about the pro's vs con's of doing it sooner as opposed to later.
- General strategy and dev advice leans towards later. (about 1 week 10-25-16) _____________________________________________________________

Please voice your opinions about this matter, discussion leads to better decision making. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Cheers

 Sad

Quote
Ethereum Classic is a project to keep the original censorship-resistant, immutable, decentralized Ethereum

Developers will be building on our immutable chain, are you ready? Code is law.

Judging from what has been said at the Shanghai conference, it should be assumed that ZCash and Ethereum plan to join forces in some way, so that the two technologies can be used as part of an integrated super-system.

Would it be a good idea if Ethereum Classic forged alliances with Monero to do the same thing? It's obvious to me that ETC is the superior blockchain due to it's political base, as opposed to the rather scammy corporate hype-machine base of ETH/ZCASH.

It seems to me that this is the direction we are headed, and it might be a good idea to think of things in this way as a form of expansionist strategy.

sad to see ETC performing so weak. I followed ETH and later ETC since its incorporation. Lost some $ on the ETH crash and regained it with the ETC pump.
ETC would have been a valid coin from the beginning if they just pointed out that

(a) its the original Ethereum as it has been announced once (bailout-free)
(b) all future updates, dapps and developments can and will be implemented on ETC too

THATS what investors wanted. But the Dev team and the community lost this track. Instead they increasingly promoted it as if it where sort of a competing "new" "better" ETH coin, as if it were an ETH fork or a new coin at all with own separate projects!

Nobody ever wanted an ETH clone and nobody gives a shit about it! Everybody wanted the original, bailout-free Ethereum with all the expected future developments of Ethereum!

just my 2 cents.

(PS: and yes, ETC can fork for technical (non-bailout!) reasons as this was always in the concept of the ethereum development)

Regardless-I think it's safer to stick with ethereum at this point whether you are investor or trader.

Why do you think so?As up to me I judge based on fundamentals although  clasic is original ethereum chain it is a new in terms of who works on it.But that's only short time bet.

etc wasnt under attack till last week but eth is under attack for weeks now. we just can guess why. but eth is since summer busy fixing bugs and stop attacks and i dont think that will stop in the near future. maybe the fork now will give eth a break . dont get me wrong i wish eth the best. didnt agree with what they did to solve the dao desaster but its past.

i think etc wasnt the aim of the attack it was just in the way. as soon as the fork is done  the attacker will focus on eth again . etc can and will grow.

eth will survive this too but i guess etc will make faster and better profit for investors. at the moment . how it will be in a couple of years . who knows.

and the attacks are good on the long run . lets be honest ethereum was coded very fast and now that attacker finds all the bugs and they have to fix them better now then later .

Thanks for input-all points are valid.Actualy my argument was stupid for a short run lol, becouse you have to look at the charts too and ETC a lot  better placed for correction up.

Issues should be addressed even if its required a hard fork as there is no alterative...hope there will be an official word soon.

for sure there will be a official word soon. as i understand it they are still sorting out details and test it.
i heared they said dont rush it have it tested and let eth fork first.
i like that approach.

Will they use the ETH code to hard fork or create their own code to deal with the current DDoS attack?
