You wish to get a little Bitcoin in exchange for your Classic coins,  You send them to Poloniex, at their ETC deposit address.

You sell the coins, withdraw Bitcoin, and are happy. Until.. you log back in to your client tracking the non-Classic fork and see that your coins are gone. Where did they go?

Some ETH-Classic supporter has sent them on to the same address as Poloniex' ETH-Classic deposit address, but this time on the main chain, by simply replaying the transaction in the main chain.

If you are very, very lucky, Poloniex may be able to keep track of these coins on the main chain for you. But, probably, they are going to be lost until and unless someone can manually see what's going on and help you out.

So if your mining etc and sending to an exchange..beware...

Here is The DarkDAO address on the Ethereum Classic chain. It occurred earlier today. The Ethereum Classic blockchain explorer only goes back 256 blocks, but you can see that the Classic DarkDAO is now drained. No one knows where her ETC has gone but per the current price of ETC, her 3.6 million ETC would be worth $2.3 million USD if she were to sell them today, magically without moving the market at all. Still a huge haul for a few hours of her time and effort. Yes, she. Women can be DAO attackers, too.

You forgot to mention one crucial detail. This can only happen if one mines to an old ETH address. Create a new address for ETC mining and this won't happen.

You seriously need to go start your own post "How ETC will ruin your life, make your penis fall off, and give you fleas".  

It is time to ask yourself.  Was ETH hacked?  The answer is NO!  The DAO was hacked, specifically a contract mechanism that was poorly implemented was exploited in the DAO.  ETH was NEVER in any danger.  If you are not aware of how ETH was affected then what in the world are you doing holding a LOT of ETH in the first place if you thought it was in imminent danger?

Now seriously if your want to ramble on about replay attacks that never happened in ETH, or 51% attacks it would be best to move over to another post/thread and repeat this to the less informed instead of trying to FUD everyone here.  

If your in this thread I assume you have done your homework, or are about to do your homework regarding ETH(now ETC).  If any of this BS that is repeated had any truth to it anyone who owned ETH prior to the hard fork would have been ROBBED.  Simply didn't happen because ETH was not in any danger.  

If your here because you want to know more or have questions please feel free to ask.  Right now I can honestly say that most of the nonsense being repeated is absolutely baseless, and it really drives home the point that you can probably trust about 1/10th of what you hear.

So awesome that Poloniex added this coin. Can't speak on behalf of the whole Bitcoin Co-op on such a controversial issue, but I think it's fair to allow the free market to decide. This is how we maintain consensus while disagreeing on things; it is a natural counter-reaction to the forces (investors in the DAO Project) who incentivized the fork. You don't want ETH's value to be higher for the reason that your ideological opponents are forced to play along
