What are the Blackbytes needed for? Is it a own Coin or is it something like GAS in Ethereum or in NEO/Antshares Huh

Blackbytes are a cash-like tokens like bytes build-in byteball platform. You can use them as a form of payment which is private and untraceable. The transactions are far more safe, secure and cannot easily identified the source or destination.

Okay that sounds really cool. So how come they are not traded on exchanges then; how does one assess the value of these bytes then? And I know there is a blackbyte bot now

but does that mean it is a set rate built in ? Or do you have to wait for a buyer to come accept your price? I barely understood bytes, now you guys dropping blackbytes on me Cheesy

There are 2 blackbytes exchanges in the bot store.

Would be great that Blackbytes Bots could report it's price and volume to coimarketcap like sites or blockfolio like apps

One bot already reports on a website: http://freebe.byte-ball.com/
It should be easy to add a small API to be used by external apps.

The main purpose of this currency is the solution accumulated in cryptosphere problems: anonymity if it's necessary, opportunity to be confirmed by third parties. All of it looks really attractive.

Price will go up again: so many copycat coins have a bigger market cap compared to byteball.
In the end only the best projects will prevail (and survive). Byteball is one of them IMHO

There's a lot of air/hype in those copycat coins (or even just tokens). Hype can appear and disappear in an instant, real world usage grows slower but stays longer.

One question:  I took part in the last 3 Airdrops. My addresses are linked fine and the bot says I'm to expect getting X GB and X GBB. The GB amount is fine but my GBB amount is still 0. I've now waited months for them to appear and also tried to create a couple of addresses to fix it (40-50 total) but nothing seems to help. What am I missing?

Distribution of bytes is finished.
Total distributed: 57,444.473272169 GB.  It's about $19m at the current rate.
New available supply: 583,896.4940036 GB.  Coinmarketcap is already updated.

I'll update when blackbytes are distributed, it is going to take about 3 days.

Distribution of blackbytes is now finished.

The 10th round will be on the Full Moon of November (November 4, 2017 at 05:23 UTC), and the rules stay the same:
BTC to bytes: 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 6.25 MB (0.00625 GB)
BTC to blackbytes: 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 2.1111 * 6.25 million blackbytes (money supply of blackbytes is 2.1111 times more than that of bytes)
Bytes to bytes: 1 byte on any Byteball address gives you 0.1 new bytes
Bytes to blackbytes: 1 byte on linked Byteball address gives you 0.21111 blackbytes

Putting this another way, to receive 1 GB from the distribution, you need to already hold 160 BTC or 10 GB.  These same holdings also give you 2.1111 GBB (giga-blackbyte).

By that time, we'll have more apps in the Bot Store, more cashback partners, and hopefully a few teams will start their token sales on Byteball platform.

Simplicity is beauty

THANKS!

Now the whining about not getting their GBB [because they did not link a Bitcoin address to their ByteBall address] can officially start.

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

Oh, it started already.  In slack, I've already talked to a few people.

My favorite part is when they ask me if I can help them fix it so they get 'their' share.
I typically go into a conversation that the first step is to get a time machine and go back three days to do it.

One question:  I took part in the last 3 Airdrops. My addresses are linked fine and the bot says I'm to expect getting X GB and X GBB. The GB amount is fine but my GBB amount is still 0. Not sure why you thought creating addresses would solve anything.
The blackbyte distribution just finished 30 mins ago - Do you see them now?

Are you saying that you go blackbytes from the other rounds, but not this round?
PM me your address(es) and I can look to see if you did it right.

Do you think taking a private payment system to a public exchange keeps it private?    Maybe it doesn't.   Just thinking out loud.
I see many people even asking about making a chain explorer for blackbytes.  Ummm, duh.   Smiley

No whining here, all blackbytes arrived on all wallets I checked. Backups are running as we speak.

Hello, friends. How to make a copy of a small wallet? Do I need to make a full backup? Or just download a csv file?
I do not want to lose my GBB))

Full backup.

Then on the other device, run a full restore.

Don't run the wallet on both devices.  That will cause problems.  There is another method for that.

Can I save the exported file on a USB flash drive?

Why the price of GBYTE is dropping? Is this connected to IOTA's broken hash function mentioned in this article here?

For the same reason that ALL coins are dropping.

(Nothing to do with IOTA's problem.)

No, in USD terms GBBYTE has lost more than the price in July, more than the other coins. Back then it's $394, now its $283.

I just install Byteball wallet on Windows PC and it is the version 1.9.1 while I read on the forum that the newest version is 1.10.1. What is the newest Wallet version for PC? The second question is how to obtain test bytes. When I go to chat tab it is blank and I don't know how to obtain them.
