Antshares was a weird name, but NEO is just as weird. Dash pulled the same trick, from something untrusted with a very bad image ("instamine") to a new name to make people forget it's past. well the name and the logo. i always thought about a snowball that i getting bigger after every airdrop. and you can pass these balls to others while transferring them. but who collects balls? and who uses balls to pay for something?
Whenever I mention Byteball to someone, what they hear is "bite balls" and what they think about is sex. Bytes doesn't have that association, but it's confusing as it's just a general term when talking about computers. I understand the snowball effect that lead to the name, but changing it may indeed be better for mass adoption. Something with "chain" works well for crypto, for example Bytechain?

Hi, for join the airdrop in November can i connect my BTC accounts from exchangers? There is a minimum ammount of BTC that you must hold? Exchanges would either have to sign a message with your BTC address or send small amount FROM that address in order to claim your GBs. But that's highly unlikely to happen. There is no minimum you get 0.00625 GB for each BTC you hold on Nov 4th.

btw: what should be changed is the unit in exchanges. a GB is to much. I agree with this. Changing the base trading unit over a few decimal places actually will increase volume. It is psychology. People will be more inclined to buy 1000 coins of a 17 cent coin than one 170 dollar coin. Even though they are spending same amount, they get "more" when the price is less. There is also a puzzle maker that has been taking Bytes for his puzzles over at https://www.cubicdissection.com/ and giving a 10% discount. Is there a reason why he hasn't been added to the Cashback Program yet? In my opinion this is clearly a very reputable business and would be a good addition to the program!

So shall we start trading mbits instead of bitcoins? or satoshis even! No man I don't think is that. Unfortunately, even the shittiest coins that are listed on exchanges have a marketing plan. This coin gets very low attention. I don't know if it's because of the DAG, or because it has witnesses. I really don't know. What we all know is that our community is quite lively but we don't get much light on us. This is it

Man did I ever buy near the top here and am getting destroyed. I thought byteballs had a lot more going for it than it did. Maybe it is this fork stuff that is causing all these alts to crash. Unfortunate I really like this project, and either way gotta hodl now

This is it Yes, I think that psychologically it is not really up for debate if people have a higher willingness to pay for a "cheaper" item. So if BTC was priced in mBTC, many people that couldn't bring themselves to buy "expensive" bitcoin at $500 would have bought a few mBTC for 50 cents.

At least I can watch the GB/GBB market with some sanity. Much more stable than the GB/BTC price. And it's getting more liquid thanks to freebe!

I was asked if I still believe in Byteball.
The fundamentals are as solid as can be. Development is happening unhassled by the constant proclamations of death. It is still a big cognitive dissonance for me to look at the price and the project. Whenever I bought the price dropped more.
I do not belong to the people that scream for marketing. There is so much marketing for short term adrenalin markets going on that our plea for a good long term community is only heared by the select few that check for facts. The ICO-Altcoin craze will go on several months longer. After that there is time to tell the difference between shit and shiny.
We grow from the ground up with the rain of airdroped magick internet money. Face that fact. And with the long airdrop you have a inflation at work that is baffeling to behold and "unfair to the unexpierenced avarage guy who can plan for next 3 days market spike".
Get your mind ready to speak not of cryptos but of Blockchains and DAG. Let people ask: what is a DAG. And then you can speak of Byteball.
Do I still believe in Byteball? I wouldn't be here otherwise.

Byteball is still the only functional DAG coin, without "baby training wheels".
Still the only implemented consensus algorithm in which higher amount of transactions, make it only faster. More transactions, higher throughput.
How is lightening/raiden progressing? Those still have limits.
Byteball is limitless.

Was there an airdrop on the 5th of Oct?
Dev decided to skip this month, and will resume next month on Nov 4. no airdrop and the coin went down all the time... looks like something is very wrong... This is just the painful way in which what's wrong is getting corrected. The wrong thing is that there are sooo many people who have adopted Byteball only for short term speculation purposes, and they are now selling to those who are interested long term, who are less and so the price is tanking. At some point, in an either near or distant future, only holders will be left and price will raise again.

In Slack the question of Lightning Network was raised, too. Here is a snipet.
Bakibyte: The essence is not in DAG, the essence of the scaling. Everyone screams that their technology is steeper, only the technology can not be modeled, it can be copied. There is no reason to assume that the DAG is the solution to the scaling problems. Bitcoin can be scaled simply by increasing the block and this will increase the data for storage. Byteball will also be scaled by increasing the storage of transaction data, what's the difference? Do not always repeat the DAG, as if pronouncing a drug. There are crypto-currencies with good technologies, but generally with a poor implementation. The bitcoin can be scaled as follows. The use of LN will give any number of transactions and if you fix transactions in the block chain of the transaction once a month and increase the block to 50 megabytes, you can serve 500 million users.
Me: We can bath in as much essence as you want. Lets have a lightning drug session then: You just got a private key bounced your way. Haven't changed a thing to the underlying Blockchain. Public ledger need not update. No further mining required - until you do. But don't worry. It will take the next Blocks (picture busses) when they: 1. Have free space 2. You payed for a ticket 3. They leave the station. Is that as elegant as a private fast shuttle that leaves when you need it?
The LN transactions will have to prove their safety in the market first. LNs stopped scaring me a while ago. Put them into action please! The great once a month mining sounds a bit like my monthly paycheck. All proper accounted for - once a month.
And the once a month mining will not scale Back the hardware or the fees, otherwise 51% attack becomes a problem again. Look, Blockchains successfully threaten the world economy by decentralisation. But at a price of running around with a handgranade without a fuse. Its its fate waiting at the gates. No amount of LN will get them out of this chinese fingertrap. And there is no LN without an underlying Blockchain. And at that moment of "the great accounting" you will have to wait extralong for all other transactions. Somehow it does not sound that appealing to me. *takes another toke of DAG... Jummy*

When BTC skyrockets alts get always left behind, always. Byteball is known, unfortunately, as an altcoin although it has completely different characteristics compared to bitcoin. But traders and speculators are the market makers here. They pumped byteball hard in June/July to profit from the hype and they made it. This is not a good time for Byteball but this is another coin to hold

When BTC skyrockets alts get always left behind, always. True. It looked like it was gonna go back up yesterday with almost a full day of green %ages on CMC and was ready to have my GB < 0.03 prediction squashed but BTC clearly had other plans. Byteball is known, unfortunately, as an altcoin although it has completely different characteristics compared to bitcoin. But traders and speculators are the market makers here. They pumped byteball hard in June/July to profit from the hype and they made it. This is not a good time for Byteball but this is another coin to hold I'm not too sure its reputation as an altcoin affects it as much as its reputation as an airdrop coin. I haven't confirmed it but I think GBYTE has got to be the worst affected coin since BTC began its rise in July/August. The skipped (totally understandable) airdrop definitely didn't help.

It was not just the skipped airdrop. It was also the drop in the Bitcoin:BB distribution ratio. The correction was inevitable once the airdrop (almost) ended, but I didn't expect such a drastic drop with the change in distribution formula.

I thought the month off of airdrop would be good for the price but I couldn't have been more wrong. I think it's probably best that the coins are just handed out quickly without messing around with cashbacks. I hope that Steve Safronov has been working on some nice ICO/ token sales on Byteball... all this coin needs is a couple big token sales and gamblers to notice the platform is ideal for gambling and this coin is going back to the moon

Hi,
Everytime I go to restore my encrypted backup my byteball wallet goes "poof" and disappears.
Solution?
Restore from full backup or seed? Using a full node? Need more details than 'poof' You're welcome to send me the wallet and I will see what I can do for ya.
