Seeking to improve Rx 480 performance.
- SAPPHIRE NITRO+ (100406NT+4GOCL) RX 480 4GB model with V9 runs at 220 H/s at factory core 1306 / mem 1750 ( I think I can do better )
I tried pushing the mem over 2000 to duplicate other settings I saw posted on this thread but the PC crashed. Card was headless so I plugged a monitor to it, same speed. (ULPS is disabled for the card)
I have a Sapphire Fury running on same PC at 330 H/s using V9.
I see lots of references to bios mod's is the outcome the same as manually setting the Core and memory clocks in trixx or msi afterburner ? Also I recall back in the day of Silt bios modes AMD was using signed bios's so it was reported to be impossible to modify bios without have a certificate to re-sign the bios file. Did AMD that drop that requirement ?
I think I found my I can't get better performance for this card (ref http://www.legitreviews.com/sapphire-nitro-radeon-rx-480-4gb-video-card-review_184553/10) "This overclock meant that we were running at up to 1370 MHz at time and the memory was running at 1900 MHz (7600 MHz effective) on the 4GB of GDDR5 memory. Not the highest overclock in the world, but you have to keep in mind the reference cards boost speed is 1266MHz and the Nitro RX 480 4GB cards are the ‘fallout’ from the binning process done by Sapphire as the best chips become higher clocked Nitro RX 480 8GB cards. We could not get 8000MHz effective clock speeds on the memory and Sapphire confirmed that the Radeon RX 480 4GB comes with slower Hynix GDDR5 memory chips and that hitting 8GHz would be unlikely. If we went much over 1900MHz the system would hard lock. If we overclocked much higher on the core the system would also lock up. We were able to get some games to run at 1385MHz with stability, but others would crash. At 1370MHz on the core we played a handful of games and they all were stable with this particular card"

For RX 480 reference cards with 4gb flashed to 8gb stock bios..
v8 on rx 480 reference i got ~ 190s/s, but it would default to i 4 v9 on rx 480 reference i get ~ 220s/s, but intensity is now at i 6.
Still that is about ~15-16% difference.
I would like to note it seems a little bit more unstable...perhaps due to the intensity 6 default. Will have to play with it a bit more.

Was 9.0 the last one or will you make another one! <3 Claymore! Good question. We need an answer. I am wondering if he can get some more hashes out of hd7950 and especially from rx470 and rx480 v9.0 is not the last version, further speedup is possible. But don't expect another +30% in a couple of days please Dear Claymore, Can you make the "UNIVERSAL MINER" with key -miner [Eth, XMR, Zec] (or something like that) managed by EthMan - to change mined coin operatively! Please) It will make my miner's life easier)) I want to manage rigs from one EthMan by simple edit config.txt and restart miner) will not need to connect remotely to rigs and run another miner when the price of coins changes!

Here's what I'm getting with v9.
R9 295x2 core 1100 mem 1500: 567 Sol/s
Nitro 470 8G core 1400 mem 2100: 233 Sol/s
All stock BIOS. Free electricity. Maybe I can push the cards more if I mod the BIOS and tighten mem timings.

Memory clock speeds are not going to help you much with ZEC mining. You're better off pushing the core to 1400 and you should reach around 240 / 250 h/s depending on how much you can squeeze.

Is it just me or is this version mostly geared towards the Pitcairns ( 7850 / 7870 / 270x / 370 )? Getting pretty much 25% speed up with these cards. The rest not so much.
Odd, I saw a 20% DROP give or take a hair on my 7850, pair of 7870s, 7750s, and A10-7890k 7870s for example dropped from 113 sol/s give or take to 87 sol/s Might have to go back and recheck and see if v9 has a MUCH longer ramp up time than v8

Hi, my graphic cards in Windows 10 64bit, Crimson 16.11.5, Claymore`s v9:
Asus Radeon Strix Gaming RX470 4GB - 190sol Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX480 4GB - 214sol
Anyone advise me how to modify the bios for each of these cards? Link to youtube?
Thanks

Hello, do you guys noticed bigger reject rate? I went from ~205 sol/s to ~217 sol/s on my r9 280x each, but reject rate is much higher, so total speed is same as v8 (if not lower). I am mining at nicehash. Using stock settings, bios, intensity, all.
Thanks.

ok so i have noticed over all versions that the watchdog doesnt work well if at all miner just hangs dosnt report that anything is wrong then if i hit S to report speed it then restarts
only time i notice this is when im messing with volts on 290x after a new release it doesnt crash driver or anything miner just hangs till u hit R or S
and yes i have the restarts and delays set

Are you using teamviewer? The last several version of Claymore will freeze up when I click on the open teamviewer window. Miner will run perfectly for days with the window open.......until I click on it. It doesn't do this EVERY time, but often enough I have to watch closely or immediately hit "s" when I bring that window to the front. Wouldn't be much of a problem on a plain mining rig, but this rig with teamviewer is also a torrent seedbox.

I'm having problems with power spiking. 3x 470 @.96v using v9 spikes from 280w to 360w and eventually crashes the whole system using i6. Is it just me? v8 spiked much less being stable @.96v

Did a bit more testing on my HIS Ice-Q 2GB HD 7870 single-card rig.
X240 dual core CPU, 2 Gig RAM, Win 7, Catalyst 15.12, mining on flypool.
Machine has been stable running V8 at about 110 H/s for a few days straight.
Switch to V9 (no other changes):
-i 6 miner reports "too high intensity" and reverts to -i 5, see below.
-i 5 miner stable, reports 96 give or take H/s, TONS OF REJECTS (bloody near 100% rejected).
-i 4 miner starts up, then fairly quickly crashes after never getting far enough to report hashrate or any shares. Watchdog then reboots miner, and repeat in a seemingly infinite cycle.
-i 3 miner starts up, reports 336 H/s (NO TYPO) but every single share is rejected. -i 2 miner starts up, reports 96 H/s give or take, but tons of rejects (seems to be acting identically to -i 5)
didn't bother testing -i 1
[edit] Remembered seeing a comment about "16 GB virtual memory needed for multi-gpu machines" and decided to try bumping that up from 2GB.
-i 6 miner stable, reports 89 H/s, 100% rejects.
-i 5 miner stable, reports 80 H/s, 100% rejects.
-i 4 miner starts up, reports 111 H/s, then goes into constant driver crash / watchdog recycle mode and never starts hashing again.
-i 3 miner stable, reports 330 H/s, 100% rejects.
-i 2 miner stable, reports 84-87 H/s, 100% rejects.
-i 1 miner stable, reports 0 H/s and never finds a share.
Switch back to v8
-i 6 miner reports too high intensity going to 5, stable, reports 110 more or less H/s and lots of accepted shares 0 rejects.
GPU-Z also reported some odd behavior on the clocks under the -i 4 settings on both runs with v9 - a short spike early, then a "ramp-up" 'till the driver crashes, then just stays at idle after that.
[edit] I tried updating that machine to the current win7-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-relive-16.12.1-dec7 drivers.
Loses 1-2% hashrate and no other changes, on both V8 AND v9.
I'm starting to wonder if this v9 version requires a ton more system ram for some reason than V8, though it doesn't SEEM to use very much when I look at task manager memory usage.
It's definitely VERY PICKY about something, as I've seen quite a few other comments about it not working well from a few other folks.
