I'm probably free next Monday. However, as I've thought about it, I might not be the best guy to go. There are a number of reasons:

• I'm not willing to pay for the trip myself, someone else would have to pay for my expenses (~1 BTC).
• I've decided not to invest in KNC or any other new BTC mining equipment.
• I know a thing or two about bitcoin mining and I've been doing it since 2011, but I am in no way an expert in FPGA/ASIC mining.
• Most of what I know about the business side of computer hardware development I've learned from this forum.

Nevertheless, if someone is willing to pay for my expenses, I'd be happy to go. I own a DSLR camera and I think I'm a decent photographer, so I could probably take good enough pictures. I also happen to be an engineer* in Industrial Engineering and Management (Civilingenjör i industriell ekonomi in Swedish), so I think I'm still somewhat qualified to ask the right questions.

* Technically, I'm not an engineer yet. I've applied for a diploma, but it will take a few more weeks before I get it.

I think the train has gone for now - if you don't already have mining equipment in hand, chances are slim you will be able to recoup your investment. Also, there are too many uncertain variables (delivery time, actual performance, difficulty rise, exchange rate, power cost, alternative coins) for my taste. Just buying/keeping BTC is a better investment, as I see it.

same channel to get access to 28 nm ASIC chips, just saying... 

If it's coming from eASIC, the 28nm node is "coming soon" only. You can register to receive more info as it becomes available.

The way they describe it is basically "you come up with program an FPGA and we turn it into an ASIC". Sounds interesting.

Toksu apparently has no interest in purchasing from KnC (unsure as to why - respectfully -  he follows this thread then?!) would appreciate a contribution to travel, which is fair, so anyone else willing to assist?

Depends! To me, if the turd belonged to Maria, I would sniff it first before deciding what to do with it, but chances are I'll put it in my pocket.

Then I would share my fine on some website, garnering other's opinions, whereupon some may want to view it, thus setting up a viewing date consisting of trusted members so that it doesn't come up missing, couple with them giving favorable reviews.

Yes, that's exactly where we are at, with another meet when they unveil the ASICs they are developing. I'm more keen to attend that. Defxor (hero member) has a friend in Stockholm who's an ex-ASIC dev and bitcoin miner, so he'd be perfect. Tosku (senior member) who apparently is totally impartial as he has no desire to purchase an ASIC miner would make the trip if we covered his travel expense of around 1BTC as he lives a couple of hours away - I'm happy to contribute if others are. JohnyJ (hero member) is only 20mins away and happy to attend, but has yet to receive a reply, guessing he may have the wrong email? As there appears to be one that works and one that doesn't.

They have the processor info up for the Mars one - an Alterra Cyclone IV 115K - 48 chips - over 6GH/s (125Mh/s each) is definitely on track.  Don't know about the others.

Maybe this was discussed earlier in the thread but I'd like to know why they choose that FPGA for their lowest model.  Consumer end rather than by wafer runs over $300 per.  Why not a Xilinx Artix 7 215K which runs around $230 consumer price?  A Kintex 7 326K is known to run around 350-400Mh/s and the 65K around 100Mh/s so a conservative estimate would be over 200Mh/s out of each.
