How can KnC be adding 2.5PH to the network? I thought their September pre-orders for Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 was 180TH or something like that...

I think people are being hugely optimistic with respect to actual hashrate per unit.

How much mining are they going to be doing themselves?

They have always promised no more than 5% of customer sales equivalent.

Why are you selling the Miners and don’t mine yourself (will you use the miners for mining yourself)?
We are mining ourselves, but we believe in the bitcoin project and a diversified market is the best for all parties. We will continue to mine but we do not believe in a monopoly of miners. We will not mine with more than 5% of the hash rate we sell, and we will never mine with customer hardware.

If anyone wants Day 1 Jupiters (3) we just cancelled our order and the refund is processing. Keep an eye out on the KnCMiner product page for these. FYI. Firstly, our orders for September delivery are now closed. If any refunds occur, any devices that become available will be added as, and when, on the KnCMiner site. So for those keen to secure a device for the preliminary deliveries please keep a look out. They will be sold on a first come first served basis and be added to the end of the September/October queue. Nice affiliate links...lol

I think people are being hugely optimistic with respect to actual hashrate per unit. 10-15x too optimistic? That seems nuts. Are you referring to optimism around the distribution of the type of units sold (Jupiter, Saturn etc) or around the achievable hash rate vs. nominal hash rate?

If KNC actually delivers around 2PH by 15th of Oct, will the other companies face a wave of cancelled orders? Or KNC itself for the Nov shipping orders?

I recently wrote an email to KNC asking about shipping times and if there was a way to pay for more expedited shipping (I'm from the US). I got this response today: "As we use UPS Express Freight, it might take around one day for the miner to be delivered once it is produced." I'm ok with that

anyone do an ROI chart on getting a fast food job instead of using all their time speculating on miner ROI?

I'm actually happy so many decide to bail. Any decrease in deliveries is a bonus for us getting ours sooner really. Over the last four months, I can't tell you guys(and gals) how many hours we spent in meetings discussing Bitcoin and our strategies. Bailing from the investment was actually discussed very little, as was the comparison if we were to have invested the same amount in coin. First of all, the electricity cost (Gh/s per kw) will be the deciding factor on exactly how long any miners will produce coin very soon. We knew this would happen as the ROI began to stretch into oblivion. We also know, that people are not going to be mining at a loss for very long, when they figure out that the electricity is costing them more than the units bring in. Best we could estimate, is this should begin to happen around the New Year for some of the earlier manufacturer's machines. At that point, there should be a "Tapering down" beginning to hit the diff increases, and (mostly)only the most efficient miners will be hashing, because there are not many folks that will continue to operate miners at a loss. At that point, most of the smaller investors (and players) will be dropping from the hash-cloud, which will result in a huge stabilizing of BTC volatility, and get BTC on track for an imminent rise in BTC price. With all this in mind, it's a game of longevity, and MARKETSHARE(in hashpower), all depending on your ability to obtain the most cost-effective miners, and the cheapest electric.... and lots of it. I actually smile inside watching people bail as the difficulty rises, because it just means we are all the closer to seeing our predictions unfold, and getting rid of most of the people who saw BTC as a "Get rich quick" opportunity, bringing us on track with a more stable system as global adaptation takes hold as well. I don't really feel sorry for those who got caught ordering machines from companies that had little to no experience in making asics because that's all part of doing your homework. The first rule in investing is "Knowing what you own", followed by a stop-loss system. I understand the allure surely though... "A machine that makes money" . How could you go wrong? Several ways. The next few months are going to be very interesting! Good luck to you all. Ewik

“Currently we’re looking at 450 Th/sec that we expect to enter the network between September and the end of October,” Cole predicts. That will mean substantially increased difficulty as more miners come onstream. Sam Cole KnC http://www.coindesk.com/a-look-inside-kncminer/

I highly doubt anyone is canceling.
It is sad that the nice folks here (since they are nice folks) keep trying to make this a positive thread yet become an unwitting partner in the trolling tango of FUD
Someone over at the KNC forum post a good explanation of this farce in the 'trust no one' post

Oh, I'm sure there are plenty cancelling, but your point is also very valid in the sense that surely there are plenty of trolls spreading FUD to make others bail. Absolutely no argument from me there... lol
