Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ?

It depends. Maybe in your place there are lot of places but not in mine. It is hard to see a stall with a sign that accepts bitcoin. It is always changing it to hard cash first before you can even spend it. Now, I have just been doing online buying instead of going to the mall.

Bitcoin is being used widely in porn sites, gambling and drug dealing sectors. Is that why the btc made for ? I have seen a lot of members in this forum discussing about buying drugs, gambling and enjoying porn with bitcoin. Is not it a misuse of a currency ? Block chain tech is a awesome tech and btc is getting popular. I hate these misuses of precious btc. It hurts me. This will lead into unhealthy society along with unhealthy future generation.

Well, bitcoin being used in illegal transactions is unavoidable. the features of bitcoin made it possible for traders, investors, gamblers, drug lords or even terrorists to use it in their favor for easier transactions and for-profits as well, etc...
I wouldn't say bitcoin is being misused just because it is being used for illegal transactions because every currency is being used
for illegal transactions and this individual picked bitcoin because of its features that can be used in their favor.
and for the future generation, it is up to them on how will they accept bitcoin and how will the use it.

there is always a positive and negative for some product and we don't have to go with wrong way like other people in out side but we should use bitcoin for good purpose.

and for now i think many people will prefer with bitcoin over fiat its because the bitcoin price is increase in higher than we can expected. i hope that many investor will invest their money in bitcoin so bitcoin will be adopted in many places.

I don't consider the current transaction fees to be cheap at all. As pools more and more depend on income through fees, it will only become worse. If the price goes up accordingly, then it can compensate the lower income through mining, but if the price doesn't go up, then the fees will be upped in order to not fall behind with their earnings. Right now 0.0001BTC ~$0.10 isn't enough to get pools excited. At least 0.0002BTC should be included to make pools pick up your transaction assuming the byte size of your transaction isn't too much above the average transactions size. If the latter is the case, then you need to up the fee to 0.0003-0.0005BTC...

Even the government can`t do anything about their currencies being used in illegal transactions.
what I want to say is that we can`t do anything if people choose to use bitcoin in illegal transactions
and of course it is better if bitcoin is used for a good purpose it would help bitcoin promote itself to other investors.


I agree that bitcoins price helps attract new investors but it would be better if they learn more

yes that is a fact, in fact those areas where the people are advanced and education and those who know about computer and internet so they know the method of online shopping and getting benefits from other services and therefore bitcoin keep more value for them.

actually the number of bitcoin users will be less in your area, i think you need to introduce bitcoin to your friends, so that the uses of bitcoin increase and then you can expect shopping in local shops.

yeah it's still be the biggest problem for bitcoin while it has been the fastest transaction
always annoying when you see your tx never confirmed for hours
it's indeed rare case, but once it's happened i don't think people will have a good opinion about it
bitcoin still far away from established for now.

If it takes more than an hour to get one confirmation because pools simply haven't found any blocks, then no one can be blamed here. But if the mempool is stacked, and you include only an average fee, then the fault is on your side. That's why you have to keep an eye on how many unconfirmed transactions are in the "waiting line". I always add a much higher fee in order to get my transactions confirmed. It works all the time.

In my place the same story. To buy something with bitcoin I need to cash out that coins first. there is no other way now. I heard that PayPal is going to adopt bitcoin soon as payment. That would be great. That would allow me to make my buying on the net directly in bitcoins and to avoid unnecessary taxes.

Most people used Bitcoin as a alternative mode of transfer compare to USD the transfer fees are sky high plus the documentation and the waiting time. but in the end they will convert it to FIAT for daily uses

I don't see anything wrong with that since we must use bitcoin in whatever way it benefit us the most, someone that sends bitcoin with a good fee can be sure his bitcoin can reach the other side of the world in a matter of minutes and then you can convert it into fiat with an exchange in very rapidly too.

Anyway, for porn sites, gambling and other not so clean ways to make money bitcoin is becoming more and far more better than fiat since there is no better way to settle a dispute when bitcoin is already sent than to just talk with each other. Same as for others mentioned by the OP. We can't change that since it is part of the growth, the more bitcoin become familiar in the future, the more it will be used just like how the fiat was used.

Why more people use fiat currency to there investment means the bitcoin is not acceptable in all business. But the fiat can accept by all business. And fiat currency has more value than bitcoin in the market. And yes only in casino websites and other illegal activities people are using this bitcoin over fiat because the price of the bitcoin is high.

I did already introducing bitcoin here in my community and guess what? My old friend who is always my companion with my crazy deeds way back then is already using it.

And the fact that he is already in bitcoins for almost 4 years, the thing is that he didn't introduce it to me and he is even an early comer than me.

I learned from him that those people who are preferring to use bitcoins are just quiet and doesn't want to expose themselves.
