Hi,
Since earlier today when I downloaded and started using the Mooncoin Core version v0.13.3.0-c2f0e0e-dirtysegwit (64-bit) wallet my wallet is not synchronizing. It is stuck at block 1171452. At the time I am writing this there are 1171646 blocks, so I'm about 6 hours behind. I show 6 connections to the network but the wallet says "No block source available".

Thanks

This is barrysty1e's 0.13.3 version from his Github https://github.com/mooncoindev.
Don't use it. You can still use 0.10.5 version from his Github.
Barry doesn't communicate, he agreed to fix the code several weeks ago,
but didn't do that and didn't respond to PMs after that.

Also an user mebagger contacted me about potential issues with BalloonHash.
So after many unsuccessful attempts to contact barrysty1e and fix the code, and after discussing things,
old members decided to change Github not to let download the wallet with issues.
Still waiting for barry's response, in a PM some months ago he told that he's busy and would be glad if another dev could develop Mooncoin instead of him,
there was no alternate dev then, so the community asked barrysty1e to continue until we find another dev, and barrysty1e completed important work.

Another thing: it looks like barrysty1e is quite busy and has no time for implementing Smart Likes, organizing the fork, contacting exchanges etc.
so a new dev Vassilis Kritharakis will do that instead of him.
Vassilis Kritharakis works at his own Github at https://github.com/mooncoincore.
Vassilis Kritharakis is an experienced programmer, he worked with BURST, his Burst-related Github is http://github.com/bkrith/burstexplorer
looked like for whatever reason he had no Bitcointalk account before.
He registered a Bitcointalk account and we were communicating via PMs. Then he posted and his post was deleted. I have contacted a Bitcointalk mod, asking for the reason of deleting a post. Still waiting for an answer. Very likely it's technical (like a ratio posts/pms or anything).
Vassilis is from Crete (Greece), you can find him at social networks, he is transparent.
He doesn't speak English ideally, but he is responsible.
That's the situation. Nothing to hide here, but if you are suspicious, then you are welcome to start rumours.
But better to put emotions away and wait 1-2 days.
There will be more information.

Edit:
for now, to make it as clear as possible:
our new dev, responsible for the Mooncoin code and compilations, which you can find at https://github.com/mooncoincore
is Vassilis Kritharakis from Crete Island. I don't know if barrysty1e agrees to work in a team. Waiting for his response.
He doesn't communicate at all for weeks.
Anyway people shouldn't be allowed to download the wallet with major issues any longer in the future and the network should not be under risk.

I used the "Windows Wallet" link at the bottom of the http://mooncoin.com/ page and it took me to this page https://github.com/mooncoincore/wallet/releases which is that 0.13.3 version.

Anyway, I went back to the 0.10.5 version wallet, but I had to re-download the blockchain from https://cryptochainer.com/dir/?page_id=881 and now all is fine again.

I will keep an eye out for a final/production release of the newer version.
Thanks for the replies and support.

The link is correct, but the 0.13.3 wallet is not ready yet. I guess you just downloaded a copy of barry's 0.13.3 wallet.
If Vassilis completes it today or tomorrow, he will announce it and you'll be able to use the 0.13 version.
For now it's announced in the OP that the current version is 0.10.5.

A Case for keeping the Scrypt Algo

Mining blocks is required for transactions to complete, and we want that to be fast and consistent. In this case having large miners and mining pools isn't a bad thing really. Because large miners are investors just a different type and they mine consistently 24/7. Unlike a random user that might mine for a few hours on a computer in the evening or afternoon or something and then turn off the PC. If the network relied on these miners there is a greater chance that there were hours of the day the network wasn't being mined and transactions freeze up for hours.

Large miners pay more than an average user to mine coins and value them accordingly. And large miners intentionally mine the coins they mine. So they are less likely to dump coins on the market. Average users mining are more likely to sell at any price or gain coins from profit switching pools and dump because they were not intentionally mining moon. This is also a reason why we should never switch to auxpow. Only people that believe in mooncoin and value them should benefit from mining them and they should intentionally be making that choice to mine them.

A case for Altering mooncoin's Algo into a multi hash coin

If we did fork this coin for an algo change. I propose we keep scrpyt and add sha256 to make a multi algo coin. I don't think it's absolutely necessary but to change the algo. But if we did make that change it would allow mooncoin to continue trading in it's largest markets on the lightning network, BTC/MOON, LTC/MOON, DOGE/MOON.

This is also another reason why we should not change our algo for an obscure algo like ballonhash.

Lightning Network
https://lightning.network/#intro

"Cross Blockchains. Cross-chain atomic swaps can occur off-chain instantly with heterogeneous blockchain consensus rules. So long as the chains can support the same cryptographic hash function, it is possible to make transactions across blockchains without trust in 3rd party custodians."

For multi algo discussion, maybe get ahold of the xvg dev.  he added multi to verge.
(so he could point in direction etc)  and give insight into good/bad on it.

(i am a Dolphin on moon and verge)   (compared to a whale) Wink

The "lightning network" is a very good idea...
Is a "twisted" scenario of smart contracts via p2p! I saw Bitcoin news and they are passed the development tests..
After btc try this in "real world", we can implement it also in our wallets! There is no reason to re-invent the wheel! Wink

Hello Vassilis i feel very inspired by your enthusiasm

I believe a lot of us are.

Anyway, it has been a fun and rollercoaster year for moon community, investors ... but, the important part is we are still here with a bright future ahead.

So I am very positive for 2018 (and for the end of 2017 as well heh).

I have installed mooncoin desktop wallet but it do not connect or synchronize it. What do i need to do?

Thanks for the help

1) which version?
2) if its the 10.5  you can look for the Addnodes in this topic. (back a page or 2 is all)

if its not the 10.5, uninstall it, and dl the 10.5  from the First post inthis topic.
