With apologies, well, to all, we were riffing last night on what the Linnaean classification for certain terms might be.
Things are somewhat hazy, but I remember thus far

Capitulator ad ursos - weak hand
Adsiduus ad bellos - taxpayer
Emptor fomoensis - noob investor
Anima elota - rekt
Ferox tenator - hodler

Is there further classification of hodlers into subspecies? Wink

From 12 to 8 is a 33% variation. Maybe this kind of variation will be the norm now.

Double the price from 6 to 12, fall to 8, then double again to 16, fall to around 10, then double again to 20. How much time would this take?

I dont think we can reach 100k this year anymore. For that, we would be at 20k right now.

But we can still reach 50-70k by the end of the year.

My rough guesstimate would be 67-68 days.

for what?

For people to finally learn that price predictions are pure fine grade BS.

Or to not make investment decisions based on advice from random guys on a forum.

Take your pick  Wink

around 25 march we'll be around 5K

how's that for price prediction and timing ? 19 days left.

you guys don't realize how powerful and mighty good some of us are at this game.

I guess everyone can see it coming now...

Sorry, I was off by a few days, I had clearly underestimated the amount of novices in the markets. It's not really reassuring for the future, as their optimistic attitude will have to be balance by as much desperation.

So yeah long term, we are going under 5K

I remember your post and also found it funny that many people said this will never happen.

You all have probably seen this already.

It is a visualizer for the lightning network. Some of the node names are great! ---- I thought it was pretty cool.

Bitcoin shorts at ATH.  *If* there is a liquidation event, there won’t be a clean pair of pants left in the house.

Long:shorts ratio at 1:1 which is lowest ratio since November.

"In 2008, an Associated Press article designated the Huntington-Ashland metropolitan area as the unhealthiest in America, based on its analysis of data collected in 2006 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nearly half the adults in this metropolitan area were obese"

Apparently the West Virginia/Kentucky area has tons of bitcoiners.

President Trump has instructed the United States Trade Representative to consider $100 billion of additional tariffs on China.

I like this trading war between China and Uncle Sam, who got the bigger balls and who will bow in the end Smiley

Considering the enormous trade deficit the US has with China ($375 Billion), China has a lot more to lose from a trade war. But will they be able to surrender and still save face?

I think this whole trade war crap is just for show and won't last. Trump has probably been getting an earful from mid western soybean farmers (part of his base) over it right about now.

I bet both parties negotiate before the tariffs even kick in.... or they get dropped.

I don't know why we consider the "India" factor that much in crypto. Indian contribution towards crypto volume is surely not above 2.5% to 3% or so.

India has a population of 1.3 billion I would have thought a ban there is significant even if user adoption is low currently.

Actually, more than 90% of population is completely un-banked as Torque said, more than 750 million have no access to even toilets (I'm sorry if it hurts someone around), and around only 400 million have access to internet.

Now, at most, IMO, 0.4 million people would be using crypto in India, and almost all of them would be having very low volume.
Are you sure about the 90% figure? Sounds a bit far fetched given that Europe and the US alone have more than 1B people.

https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/slideshows/economy/what-government-plans-to-do-with-the-old-rs-500-1000-notes/98-of-all-consumer-payments-in-india-use-cash/slideshow/55579468.cms

98% of all consumer payments in India use cash

About 98 percent of all consumer payments in India use cash, and the high frequency of handling forces the monetary authority to withdraw about 75 percent of its notes in circulation in a typical year - more than the number of bank notes collectively produced by all countries taken together with the exception of China.

but I read in zh that they took cash away and that it was a giant mess... even saw it in tv  Huh

Yup, they took a lot out from circulation, happened like 15 months back, to promote use of banks.

But do you really believe that within 15 months of time span, almost everyone being new to banks, would've even bothered to see what crypto is all about?

Not quite they removed larger notes. To make it harder for criminals to work in cash. Same as in a few other countries.
